Type 2 Life

8.3 ate late. Silly me. Up early but this time remembered tablets, testing and injection. Not in any particular order. More energy when not too high a sugar reading or is it less of a liver dump?
Have a lovely day everyone!

7.3 this morning - did well yesterday, walked up to my mum's and back ( about an hour total) and had a very low carb stir fry. Sausage, mushrooms, onion, courgette and peppers - job done :)

5.8 this morning. On Tues and Thurs we wake up at 6:30, whilst M/W/F the alarm goes off at 7:30, and I always have a better FBG on the earlier days. I suppose it's too early for the dawn phenomenon to kick in...

I was a bit silly yesterday after dealing with a few eejits at work, I ate a 33g bar of Dairy Milk that had been left over from somebody's birthday.

Got a banging headache almost immediately, eyes went blurry and felt dizzy for nearly an hour.

BG never measured over 8.3 during the 2 hours after, but I definitely WON'T be doing that again

Feeling a bit rubbish today, my cold feels worse and my fbg was 7.8 but it's shopping day today so I have to drag myself into town groan

6.0 and feeling much better than last night - had a headache and burning cheeks, thought I was coming down with something for sure. It seems that all of the supplements I'm currently taking for anaemia have a positive effect on the immune system!

Feeling better than yesterday - no headache and more energy yay! There's a farmer's market in town today, might go and see what goodies I can find

Evening Folks

Survived my annual review yesterday and had an interesting discussion with the DN about vitamin B and Metformin.

Somewhat to my surprise she agreed with me that reducing my Metformin to three per day and continuing to monitor the situation would be a sensible thing to do.

Started that from this morning but I also had a flue jab and feel like a poorly goldfish now,,,,,,,

My cold is craving carbohydrates this evening, which I could ignore much easier if Mr Al and the kids weren't eating bramley apple pie and ice cream. It's rare that I begrudge them their carbs but today I feel hard done by :arghh: Hoping my throat is well enough in the morning so I can go for a good long walk and get some endorphins that way.

My BG rises when exercising. Is that normal? It goes up by 2 on average. However some days it does down 2 if sugar is say 8 or 9 at start of exercise.
This morning I got up on a 5.7 after a lot of insulin with my medium carb dinner. Took my son to school and bought 4ltrs of diet lemonade. Power walked it back. Sweating as I went. Dripping wet with sweat on my face on reaching home.
Tested 7.9 with my refreshment after putting away the contents of my heavy bag. Eh?
This exercise thing has got me flummoxed.
Swimming most days raises my bg whilst getting bags ready and changing into my costume. Afterwards if excellent bg to start swimming it raises by approx. 2. If 7 or 8 to start it comes down approx. 2.
Anyone else find this?
I'm doing a 24hr urine collection for kidney function and cortisone this week. I've been fine with the one I did 13yrs ago.

Waiting for results of GAD test performed at private hospital. Should know the result this week. Flu Jab in 10 days; Aouch!

I think its something to do with body temperature and the type of exercise!
The other day I went for a 2 hour gentle stroll, not getting sweaty or anything, and just before my evening meal I tested 3.8
Yet the previous week went for really hard walk got all hot and bothered and tested 12.8, but did stop halfway for a cup of tea and a toasted teacake:). I have noticed that short vigorous exercise seems to raise my BG, now whether that's my body releasing glucose when I start to exercise and me not doing enough to burn it off or something else I don't know.
Perhaps others could do some research on this as I have noted others saying the same thing.

6.0 this morning after a very late dinner last night. Going for interview with Cancer Research this morning, a bit nervous

I am teaching my nearly 9yr old how to jog tonight. Out of experience we have to start at ten minutes only. Warm up and downs and breathing techniques.
We both want to lose weight around our middle.
I'll test as normal. I'll let you know how it goes. Myself I need to lose a stone before I'm not exceeding my reebok treadmill which is gathering dust in the garage.
This weight has to come down. Feeling tooooo heavy.

Morning All

For some time now I have been taking Alpha Lipoic acid, Benfotiamin and methyl cbolamine supplements as I had read some reports of this helping with neuropathy, and I have been following an LCHF based diet since diagnosis some 15 months ago.

I have reported details of my experiences with the supplements elsewhere on here, in the thread entitled "Help in Dealing with Neuropathy" but I suspect more people visit this area of the forum.

Briefly, by following this regime I have just got the full results of my annual review and I am rather pleased with them :)

Hba1c is down to 34 (5.3 in normal units)

Total cholesterol is 3.4, of which 50% is the good stuff - described by my GP as "one of the best results he's seen"

Vitamin B12 levels are normal

Kidney function is good

Haemoglobin levels and platelet count is a bit low, but it always is.

So thanks to all the good people on here who have been so free with their advice, and to those who are struggling to see a way forward, keep at it - its a war that can be won in the end.

Cheers

Tim
