Type 2 Life

Hi there Ickihun - Just read your post... I've suffered the shoulder thing, ended up with a frozen shoulder. I'm NOT wanting to add to your troubles,,, Just keep a eye out for reduced mobility - gentle exercise will help (but a frozen shoulder hurts like a B'STRD!)

On other stuff - I don't know what to say apart from you have my best thoughts (I know where're your at - been there and it ain't nice)... If you need an interesting recipe for something, let me know! I have an array of winter warmers that'll warm the cockles of your heart!!!
Hi @Rudyard that's just it it's my thyroid throbbing not shoulder. My partner has frozen shoulder but I have no joint movement pain or restriction. I have an intense throbbing to the extent of painful episodes. Not constant all day every day but when it comes on it makes me cry with the pain in the crease of my neck and right shoulder. In the external part of my throat on the bottom right. Not my shoulder joint.

meetings, what are they good for? Absolutely nothing... say it again!
Good Sunday folks.

Actually, as everyone who as ever had a management job knows, meetings are the only logical alternative to work.....

I've now been taking just 2 metformin per day for 1 week - half what I was taking. Despite the blip over the weekend, my fasting and before evening meals results for the week average 5.2.

Highest was 6.2, lowest 4.0, and 80% of them were 5.5 or below.

The problems with my feet seem to be easing and my knee is less bad too.

I am becoming more convinced than ever that my root problem is to do with vitamin B12, and / or B1 and reducing the Metformin seems to increase the benefit I am seeing from from the supplements I am taking.

I think I'll keep taking the 2 per day for a while yet though, tempting as it is to go down to 1.....

Hi tim55,as your bs's get into a good place so your aches and pains will ease......diabetes is a disease of the nerves,my neropathy of the feet cleared up after about 5 wks of normal bs readings of 5.0 mmols.clive

Any tablets with sugar or sugar coating are bad. Co- codamol is good, you can get it from the chemist or your GP. I have heard ibroprofen ( nurofen) is good but I can't take any NSIAD's because if my Asthma.
I have you tried being tested for thyroid trouble or talking to your GP or Pharmacist.
Hope you soon feel better BIG HUGS

Hi @loulou99782 and @hankjam thank you for your support. I do have an underactive thyroid of which I take 200mgs of levothyroxine and have had it about 22yrs. Just starting to give me pain now. I'm going to make an appointment with the other gp in practice for a second opinion. Dentist today. Will have to tell him about my additional tablet which apparently doesn't start helping for 2-3 weeks. After 6-8 weeks it's assessed. I could be in pain for ever! :-(

4.7 this morning....
really vivid dreams last night involving site manager in a Last Kingdom type relationship.... it was not going well... and then woke up

9.2 again. Reduced insulin putting weight on. Increase insulin lower bgs and stay same weight. No more weight loss. Stagnant. I swim, I'm on lchf diet and calorie count but no change. Thyroid must be the offender? Process of elimination. Still 8 stones over weight. Bariatric surgery has been offered but I'm not convinced the long term solution. No guarantee diabetes will disappear. Will need less insulin but that's the case with any 600-800 low calorie diet. Bariatric surgery has replaced the jaws been wired together.
I've come to the conclusion starvation or 8 stones over weight.
We all know where this ends. :-(

Hi ickihun, all goes well at the dentist, sending(((((hugs))))) clive

Hi Folks

Slipped badly last night, works do for a retiring colleague.

Really excellent meat and potatoe pie with gravy, chips and peas, followed by coffee and a mixed dessert platter to share with my other half.

Fairly small portions, but portions all the same, of sticky toffee pudding, chocolale fudge cake, amaretto cheesecake, ice cream, creme brule, a sort of ginger sponge with some spices and a parkin type brownie.

Might also have one or two (or so...) strong lagers and a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc too.

Somewhat surprisingly, I was still alive this morning as I got up at 07.00 to go to work but I did have an FBG of 6.5, which is the highest its been for around 3 weeks.

I was actually a little concerned it might have been even worse, so I guess - provided you limit yourself to infrequent indulgences, enjoyable life is not over!

Well a more respectable 6.9 on 44units of humulin m3 insulin. Wasn't happy with the 8s then 9s. Off for a swim with my 2yr old, the 8yr old and other half. I've taught 8yr old to swim now it's the 2yr olds turn. He hasn't been in the pool for a yr whilst I exercised and trained the 8yr old. God help me. Toddler hates anything unusual. Partner going to my extra pair of hands so I'll get some swimming/stretching and exercise done. :-) :-) :-)

Swimming is always my fav way to relax and think it is just great to crack it young... once you've got it....
Good luck with the Nipper.

Can anyone explain why a bacon and sausage pannini should raise my bg from 4.0 beforehand to 11.8 2 hrs afterwards?
I've had it before and its only raised it a couple of points.
I did panic a bit and gave myself a couple of units of insulin which brought me down to 4.8 before dinner.

Were they the same sausages?
How many times before have you tested before and after a pannini to know this one was a one off?

Hankjam
I can't say if they were the same sausages, they were from a garden centre cafe, and I always test before and after when eating out.
