Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thanks, at least it's moving in the right direction. It's easy to look at the rapid loss achieved by others but one thing I'm learning here is that our metabolisms are all different.
You are absolutely right about metabolisms being different. Even our own metabolisms don't always perform as expected consistently. Once you take that on board you can deal with the shocks and stick with it.

6.9 again this morning, same as yesterday. Had two spikes yesterday and know what caused them so will avoid those foods.
On the good news however, I managed to get my total carb intake for yesterday down to 117.7 grams.

Very well done!

Keano there is a thing called sugar dump or liver dump in the mornings after you get up and move around, it is you body giving you a rush of glucose to give you energy for the start of the day.
What time in the mornings do you test, I test as soon as I get up and after washing my hands to get the test done before the sugar dump hits.

Can't find the right thread so sorry about this but anyone want/having pancakes today. I am trying this recipe as I have had the bread and yorkshire pudding using this flour and made some extra for pancakes. We missed the oat fibre

Again, sorry if there is a better thread!

Edit: Ate 2 with Montezuma Absolute and Triple 0 Stevia. 2 hour reading was 4.3

Hi Freema lack of sleep doesn't help has I'm sure you know, hope you get some better sleep tonight! K

hey dear I am sure I´ll sleep better this coming night, surprisingly I have had a very fine day and not slept yet... so save al my sleeping power for tonight... and have an early jump into Morpheus arms tonight

Mine is regularly over 7 in the morning but seems ok during the day.Havent been diagnosed with T2 but diagnosed with pre diabetes last August any thoughts on why my readings are so high in the am.
Keano

well most likely because of the dawn phenomenon where one's liver raises blood glucose early in the morning... maybe a remain from the stone age where we would have to go out hunting without food many times

Do you get a headache with high 3s? I usually do.
No, I believe the body gets adapted. Once I was concerned with a 3.4 reading, but I trusted my body to liver dump which it did. I think once you have cleaned your system of glucose and importantly got fat adapted, burning ketones, low numbers are nothing to worry about. But I would caution if you have a significant other and are testing if you are alright with low numbers ensure they are aware of the danger signs - this is not something to take for granted.

Hi Mbaker that's low even for you, hope your ok! K
Thank you for the concern but I have no problems at this level, no shakiness, clarity and I go and train without worry or reaction. When I used to be in the 8's and go into the 4's on the static cycle, I did used to get a sort of whoosh sensation. I think I am in Ketosis and really well adapted to low blood glucose (...don't tell diabetes). Be interesting to see my figures in the morning as I ate twice today due to networking, where I gave a 45 minute presentation on diabetes, weight loss, carbs, fats and protein from a simple perspective.
