Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I got a new Accu Chek Performa meter in a free upgrade yesterday, after the pharmacy I go to checked my old Accu Chek meter out. I thought it was reading high as could not get my fasting levels below 7.5 mmol.

So 6.3 this morning, woooooohooooooooo!

8.3 this morning, I'm newly diagnosed and I'm struggling to get my bg down. Any advise?
I ‘ve been there myself, but I read as much as I can absorb on this site and then realise it is a long slow process, it is for me. You may well fail then start to succeed. These are only my personal observations.

What I have done is cut out anything that vaguely has sugar, reduced meal sizes, reduced caffeine to two cups of black coffee a day but worst of all I cut out most fruit, which sends me well over the top after eating one apple! I try to take a long daily walk which I find helpful. I’ve lost 6kg since the 1st July. I find it is like giving up smoking, you have to do it one step at a time every day to start again.. I like this forum as you see you are not the only one struggling. There are success and less successful days. Just keep at it
