5.7, a week in the 5's now ... maxing at about 30g a day of carbs is working for me

How long have you been low carbing? Fasting bgs are the last ones to fall into line. Perserver with low carb, it will be worth it. It can take about 2 months to throttle those fbgs.I'm really trying hard with the low carbs, got a review with diabetes nurse on 31/10 so if it continues will mention it
Did you retest right finger again? Ceck meter batteries if similiar happens again, if constantly happening get to A&E.Tested on my right finger and it gave me a shocking reading of 0.9. Took another reading on my left finger and it gave me a more reasonable 5.7 reading. Cannot understand the differences. LOL
Love your avatar!!15.6 this morning, had to get up in the night for a few drinks of water and still feel dessicated.
I got my first meter yesterday. I was diagnosed type 2 (HbA1c 51.7%) on 30 September. I'm a clutz with technology, I took 4 readings this morning (yesterday had trouble with the test strips showing an error) all the readings were different. 8.3, 7.9, 7.6 and 8.1. Surely this isn't normal. What am I doing wrong?![]()
@callyandy , don't cry, you will get there . It's not a nice time for you but you'll get through this and might just find that you are healthier when you come out the other side. Diabetes will become just part of you and won't control you.
Lots of us have problems with testing to start with , it might be something as simple as soap residue that's causing the different readings, make sure you rinse your hand properly.
I'm sure you will get loads of support on here and great advice , just like we all did . Remember though this diabetes thing is so individual some things will work great for you and somethings won't . It's all trial and error .
Take care
