Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

7.3 this morning, my highest level yet. I can't understand why, I'm low carbing to the best of my ability. Under such a lot of stress with family trouble though. Feel my heart racing all the time ugh.

4.9 at 5:23am (best for a long time) then bang 7.4 at 7:31am after showering and getting dressed - and now for the day's fight to get it down again!

Gordon have you ate? Had tea or coffee? Had something else? Could you have Dawn Syndrome? Have you done any exercise? Are you under stress?
All these could and will affect your BSL

If you take your bloods before your breakfast then 2 hours later, I know I'm preaching to the converted, then you can ignore the fasting bloods!
I appreciate you want to know these test results, but it's what food does to you that is the important factor and only getting your BSL down all the time! Target your overall BSL!

7.0 today. It seems that this is pretty much my average at the moment.

6 this morning but I expect tomorrow will be higher x

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Hi thanks for the comments, but I don't really think I understand what point(s) you are trying to make?

My problem is that I have DP and I'm finding it difficult to get any control over it. My liver (having a scan this Friday) is nuts. I'm just letting other folk know by posting my readings what is happening to me, maybe they have the same issue. I'm one of those nutcases who tests very often, perhaps too often, but for me I just want to know exactly what my body is doing. I know my average (6.5 over last two weeks which is too high for me. I want to be in the 5s or lower).

I don't eat breakfast, I know I should. I just can't face food first thing, except when at a hotel on a break - but then I've paid for it )

I have tried, say cheese or brazils, but no joy.

I think maybe it's early days yet with the lchf diet and my body is adjusting. And I've restarted the metformin (1500mg/day). I just find it useful to share :)

Your waking bloods are relatively good, and as you say you can't eat breakfast and your BSLs rise before you eat anything. I was asking if you knew what it was that was causing this hence the question about exercise etc. excuse my ignorance but what is DP?
Do you believe you have a fatty liver which is throwing your test readings all over the place?

I have found that an overall BSL between 6 & 8 us really good!

Sory I meant 2 hours after eating!

Ahhh right. DP = dawn phenomenon.

Yes I think you're right about the fatty liver - but I don't think I can face the Newcastle Diet - not just yet anyway

hey, and thanks for showing interest, it's really appreciated :)

Sleep and the Dawn phenomenon are the unseen gremlins with BSLs.
Sleep has a habit of restoring your levels without you having to eat for such a long period, the body renews it's systems and tries to keep you healthier. If like me you have restless sleep, it can knock your levels all over the place and you don't get that renewal.
What I've read about DP(quick learner!) that also throws your BSLs all over the place because it reads as a fasting blood that is too high!
Once you've had your first meal you do normally return to a normalish reading!

It's your body, your tastes, your diet, you know what to do!

The thing about T2 is you will get ups and downs and that the low carb diet is the way to go, along with exercise.

If I don't eat my BSLs stay between 4 & 5, and don't move. It is only when I eat carbs and sugar does my body react.

Hello All,

Hope you are all well and fitting fit. :D

I have seen the thread in fasting blood glucose, but was wondering what they are for only Type 2's.

Mine are between 4.5 and 6.0 depending on what I have eaten / drunk the night before.

Cheers

5.2 this morning, after a full week in the 4s. Disappointed as had hoped it had begun to stabilise. Awaiting HbC1a results next week with interest!

That's the feeling I've been getting and by bg is raised

From what I have read recently, stress can higher your blood glucose. I developed gest diabetes high Bp in my third trimester. I was put under so much stress and pressure during that time, more than I could cope with, from my OH. This must have been the reason.
