Arthur,

You go to bed on 4.2! I would eating if that were me. Mine was 8.6 as it always is.I think I need more basal insulin.

Sorry Paul  , went to bed at 4.6 and woke up at new record for me of 4.4. 6 out of 7 tests yesterday were in the 4's including my main meal +2 hour one. The remaining one was 5.2 just before lunch. My best ever day and to top it all went under 14 stone and now am sub 25 BMI so I'm "normal". A big debt of thanks goes to my son for saving my life, closely followed by the Swedish Health system and the Herbs!

7.1 but I have also developed a cold sore. Can a virus cause my bs to go up?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Yes Lucy, a virus will definitely raise your BGs. I hope you get better soon.

The basic advice is, ill-health eg a virus etc, comes before your BGs. Eat well and take plenty of fluids.

Now you know why many of my friends call me "Auntie Viv"!

Hi Paul. Do all this on my phone so can't do the 'quote' bit. Sorry.
Yes, I've just started doing my BS just before I go to bed. No specific reason for it as such - I've seen other people quote their 'pre-sleep' levels and wondered what mine was!
Thur - went to sleep on 3.9 and woke to 5.7. Today - pre-sleep 4.4 and tested this morning at 5.9.
Just coming back after a naughty couple of weeks so I expect those figures to come down pretty soon.

Arthur and xyzzy,

Are you both type 2's or just used to it and better at managing BG? I don't think I would be able to safely operate like that as a type 1 but then I'm pretty new so maybe will come with time. I test before bed and its usually much much higher.

Arthurk,
It may help if you have a small snack before bed if you are going to bed that low as I see you are on Gliclazide. I found when I took them at the start if I was too low at night it would obviously drop me too low in the night and cause more of a liver dump in the mornings. A cracker and bit of cheese or something like that might be enough to stop it.
Just a thought
Angie

Plain vanilla Type 2. Started off in the 20's Dec 2011, do 60g carbs / day + Metformin. Lost loads of weight so the insulin resistance is going so the insulin I produce is working better. The DP thing took ages to work its way out of my system. Its really only in the last 3 weeks I've started waking up at roughly what I went to bed at.

Thought you had just been diagnosed LADA? If so and you're going onto to insulin post a question in the T1 section on how to get tight control on insulin. I'm sure many will advise.

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

4.7 this morning :)

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

6.1 this morning :D does this mean the insulin and my diet is starting to work??

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Xyzzy,

I have been diagnosed Type 1 at the minute. Not sure what the criteria for LADA is? If its just getting it in your (very) late 20's then yeah I'm that. Good idea on the Type 1 forum I'll ask what the community think on it.

8.3 again this morning. Never lower than 7.7 never higher than 8.8. I think I need to tell the DSN that I can risk going to 3 units slow-acting overnight now and see what that does!

Thanks

Paul
