5.1 this morning after a dodgy few days
Thurs: Phoning the surgery and explaining I have no spleen, had the flu/cold the week before and now had a chest & sinus infection... Further and fully explained I normally have emergency antibiotics to hand for such an occasion, but currently have none.
To be told 'oh we can make you an appointment for some time Friday:eek:
I maintained my polite composure, although I was now laughing :hilarious: and joked that might be a little bit late. Then explained that without a spleen you can die within a few hours from infection.
Was then admonished for daring to be ill and told well it is 20 to five on a Thursday? :hilarious:
She reluctantly then said, well I'll see If I can get a Dr to fit you in this evening for a tele consult and put the phone down.:bigtears:
Waited near two hours, getting decidedly worse.
Besides not needing a consult, after 45 years with no spleen I think I know when I have an infection :sour:
Phoned back...... :D Well the Dr did ring you and you didn't answer!
Checked the phone and told them no one had rung.
Then got told but we don't have your phone number :banghead:
Replied 'it's been the same this last 14 years :banghead::banghead::bigtears:
So eventually the Dr rings back...
Can I have some anti bios please?
Yes, which ones would you like?
Amoxicillin please?
Can the hub collect?
Certainly.
I'll leave the script at the desk immediately.
:facepalm::):):facepalm::facepalm:;)
Speechless...

My doctors surgery does a first call first served system on the day. Some appointments are pre booked but gone are the days of waiting days/weeks to see a GP. If you phone after 8.30 am you will be seen that day.
How sensible....

Probably just the oats cos the berries and yoghurt should be ok, shouldn't they??:)
I used to eat porridge every morning, but it sends my readings up so high I dare not any more... Chia seeds and milled flax have taken its place now... In bread and smoothies...

Too busy and travelling to get on yesterday, so six pages later ...

Thursday night was an odd one, I was meeting some friends at a pub, one of the occasions where I will have a pint of bitter. I didn't leave the office early enough to eat, so I thought I'd just get some food at the pub but it was quiz night and by the time I got there they'd run out. So dinner consisted of a pint of Harvey's best and a bowl of salted peanuts. 6.2 at bedtime but yesterday morning was 5.6.

Salmon and red wine last night after driving home, 5.1 this morning :)
Excellent, if a little off the beaten track to start with... :)

5.3 this morning....slept in, need coffee... Late night last night, crawled in to bed around 3am..... Got caught up watching back to back tv shows on Netflix, and lost track of time.

Picked up a small bag of jalapeños on the way home yesterday. Going to stuff them with cream cheese tonight and wrap them in bacon before placing them in the oven to cook up.
That sounds heavenly!

5.9 so good with that :) Seems to be a permanent trend down .... just teaches me I'm slow to respond unlike many others ... and please, no sarcastic remarks :)

Thanks @Dibbles1 I am just sO grateful for small mercies. Being diagnosed has totally changed my outlook on my life, of my aspirations, on faith in my own body and self discipline... the desire to live a long, full healthy and active llfe is such a huge prize that has helped maintain my motivation. I had used ageing years as an excuse for everything and I realise now that was sO wrong...look I have had my 8s, 9's even 10's when I couldnt understand why so even if it might have peaked at around that I am feeling ok. In the past I have felt groggy and sleepy, today I just felt normal.
What a lovely, positive post Beatdise... :) it gives us all renewed hope and determination when we see our colleagues in a good place... Bravo...

60g portion high GI but low GL as only ONE gram carbs
Really?! Cool, I was avoiding it and I love it... Thank you Sable_Jan...

4.9 this morning... Sinus infection almost gone... Face almost looks like mine again... Husband returned in the middle of the night from a long trip away... Sand storms gone this morning, and lovely and chilly....So many good things all before breakfast... Good lord, I sound like Alice in Wonderland... :D

6.6 now that is FIRST I am pleased and it is due to taking apple cider vinegar with cheese for my supper, I read about this and thought I would try it, it appears to work....smiles

Thanks @Susikav that is very kind of you. I am glad to share my victories and defeats in this battle for good health. I too have been inspired and motivated by the efforts and determination of others on this very helpful forum.

5.3
this morning after the pizza slices and miranda fizzy drink last night....even had two squares of dark chocolate....with my lemon tea

Just happened to have the book by me - but thanks :). Found it under vegetables.... Thought it was fruit. Wonder if they put tomato under fruit....nope....
But because you are sO supportive you always take the trouble to find an answer..book beside you or not....such energy....IMPRESSIVE

3.8 for me this morning - pretty much in the middle of my personal 3.5 - 4.5 fasting range.

It's a lovely morning here on Planet Breathe, after 36 hours of extremely blustery winds. I went out yesterday afternoon to check roofs, fences and so on, to find a huge sheet of perspex about 5mm thick against the outside of the back perimeter wall. I have absolutely no idea where that has come from, as we don't have anything perspex and our only neighbour doesn't either. Somebody, somewhere is missing that. I've propped it up to the wall, and will leave it there for a few days, then dispose of it. At our other place we have some lovely driftwood pieces which have been gifts of storms. I doubt somehow I could utilise the perspex in a similar way!
