hello!

I held the anticipation that I could make tzatziki with double cream, so that I would transform my favorite tzatziki into a fat bomb but it didn't work

I could not get rid of the creamy sweetish taste of cream that resembles desserts, no matter how much salt, garlic and vinegar I put

so is there any other idea?

I was thinking to make mayo-tzatziki, would that work? I am afraid it will taste like mayo (with that heavy taste and smell) and not like tzatziki

but I am pretty sure that there must be some dairy product higher in fat than yogurt and with much longer shelve life, but I cannot find it

any help?

thanks!

PS: this product seems ideal: http://kronosfoodsinc.com/products-and-brands/food-service-products/sauces-dips/ it says is thicker with longer shelf life and it can be base for tzatziki, is there something like this in supermarkets?

Well, real tzatziki is made with full fat greek yogurt and if you replace it, it will taste a bit differently. Maybe sour cream would be better, or mix half yogurt with cream or mayo. Greek yogurt is not that high in sugar so it shouldn't be a problem

I agree that full fat greek yogurt is the ideal ingredient and that it doesn't have much sugar, but I want to top up my fat intake and I need something really fatty to accompany my meals

Dump the tzatziki, just pour olive oil on, add spices and herbs if you need to.
Can't get fattier than that.

I can't eat 100g of olive oil! while I can eat 100g of tzatziki easily

I thought you were concerned over the fat?

I assumed you were trying to load up on it?

yes you thought right but eating olive oil as is, is not the best thing
I love though eating olive oil with bread

Just find any fat you like, and eat it.
How many grams/calories are you hoping to get down a day?
Actually, maybe olive oil isn't your thing, I guess you're targeting dairy, or saturated fats?

I believe its high fat due to:
  1. its long shelf life
  2. its thicker texture
  3. its resemblance to sour cream which is already very fatty

Ricotta or mascarpone cheese, ricotta has the sourness and high fat, mascarpone is very much like solid cream. Another example is full fat creme fresh.

Turkish Yoghurt has slightly higher fat content (a couple of percent) and is a bit firmer than Greek - Lidl sell a 1kg tub for about £1.50. otherwise as suggested, I'd go for Sour Cream or Creme Fraiche

Isn't yoghurt just milk that's warmed up a bit and left to go yoghurty?
Can't you do the same using cream instead of milk for yourself?
