I often wake at 2 am anyone know why this happens as before having Diabetes I would sleep all night
I know myself if I have consistent highs I want to sleep alot but only a few hours at a time. Only pain relief which works long hours helps me sleep longer.
In my youth it was the same if I drank alcohol. No deep sleep.
Good persistent bgs always help with sleep but for me being an insulin taker I worry incase of irratic low bg causing undetected hypo being on betablockers.

As we age sleep disturbance can become a problem. Have you heard of 'Sleep Hygene'? This is a set of rules which include no technology in the bedroom, exclusion of light and sound, no heavy meals etc.

I have suffered sleep disturbance for decades and have found that I have to be strict, when I wake up I force myself to lay as still as I can but if twenty minutes have passed I must admit to giving up. I find that if I move my head too much it fully awakens me. If I give up I will read for ten/twenty minutes (a book rather than tech) and try again.

I'm sleeping better, other than 5yr old night terrors.
How is @eldergarth and @tina_marie?

Planning on a weeks car hire in August to get out holidaying.

Once more fresh air in bedroom I had better quality sleep last night. Awoke at 01.30am then alarm at 7am.
My body is recovering from sun and intense walking schedule. Feet are soooooo sore and need a bath soak ASAP but out for groceries today. On returning I need a soak! Hard skin building up on heels as had no time to sit with balm on.
Hoping to dye my hair over the weekend too. Sunday dinner at home so no grandmother's this weekend. She is coming to us one weekday this week. :)

He's having good and bad days . Today hasn't started very well. He came to bed at 3.30am then up again at 6am. His knee was giving him alot of pain, had to use 2 walking sticks to move . Then by 9am he nodded off, but didn't stay asleep. His legs are still swollen and some days can't get socks and shoes on, or slippers . Gp has now put pregabalin on repeat for him. He's still not taking metformin and no change to bgs it's been 3 weeks now. His sleep pattern is terrible , he told the therapist that it's pain keeping him awake .

Had a weird MSK appointment.
He just keeps talking about pain being in our mind. He wants to try and help me use less painkillers. He wants me to keep moving. Increase my activity levels a little at a time. After 2wk intervals.
Ive told him struggling to get swimming logistically, especially 6wks for kids so they want to be out not in alot. 3 times a week is out of my reach. Walking as much as I can. In pain thou but not as breathtaking when on painkillers.
I cannot see how walking or swimming fixes what I have.
Maybe I'm expecting too much. He's told me it all has to come from me but I cannot get rid of the pain. No matter what I do. :(
I want my pain free walking back. Argh!!!! NOW!!!! ARGH...

Don't these so called specialists make you laugh. Of cause pain is in our head , it's our body's way of telling us things aren't right and it needs sorting sooner rather than later. Take earlier Ron was in the bedroom the next thing I heard him swear. When I asked him what was wrong he said it felt like a trapped nerve and the pain shot down his leg. Then all his toes curled up. The other week when we saw the specialist she asked Ron where he saw himself in 5/6 months from now . His reply was he wanted to walk. Specialist said they could help him with that but Ron had to put the effort in , nobody could do it for him.

Thats what this one is saying.
I must admit I've overdone things today and now I'm in agony. Just took painkillers as my back/pelvis is split in 2. I've had teachers pressies to buy, uniform bits and toiletries to buy to put aside as after op I won't want to be knocked in the busy shops. Hoping just no more than 4mths to wait now. Xmas presents will have to be done on-line this year. Ideal time would be 2wks after September go back to school. So walking well for Halloween as great atmosphere in our streets.
Endoscopy has to be done first. Yuck!

Ps. It is a joke this pain explanation thing as why do we get pain relief for operations if all in our head????

Your laugh at this one . Ron Rang gp to say that the 75mgs of pregabalin was OK for his pain and could gp now put it on repeat. I said to Ron but your still in pain so it needs to be stronger . Ron turned round and said well I don't want to be completely pain free. Well I can't put on here what I said to him.

Yes nhs prefer some pain to use as a yard stick and to avoid painkiller addiction. Humf! No fun.
