My hba1c has gone down to 45

I have lost 23lbs over the past 11 weeks.

I didn't start to gradually make my dietary changes until 11 weeks ago so my hba1c may appear to be higher due to the first month not being so low carb, and my 6 weeks of infections plus the recovery afterwards, and is now lower irl..

My blood pressure has gone back to normal 125/80

My liver function is really good again.

Maybe I have finally recovered from having covid 2+ years ago. I haven't had such an all round good set of figures since I caught it. I had the first variant, before vaccinations were available.

My inflammation markers are both very high, and my white blood count is borderline low, but that could be from the repeated infections too perhaps? I will have to ask my GP when I speak to him in about 2 weeks on the phone.

That's wonderful!

But equally as important, are you feeling better as well?
Its a bit difficult to tell as I am still recovering/ convalescing from being ill for so long. The repeat infections over 2 months have knocked me for six.

I can move better with less weight, but keep pulling muscles in my back. I will probably notice the health improvement soon. Thanks for asking.

Well done, @lucylocket61 .Very pleased for you, and it gives hope to others, too. So, what are the dietary changes?
I have reduced my carbs to 50g a day, only eat when I am hungry, and increased my fats. I am counting calories - 1200 a day or so, as I am one of those who can't eat as much protein and fats as I want without it affecting my weight, and I am consciously trying to lose weight.

Considering it is over 10 years since my type 2 diagnosis, with a hba1c of 71, I am very pleased at how well controlled my blood sugar levels can still be, even during infections. To be in this position is worth the effort of low carbing, in my opinion.

Good news Lucy, you have worked so hard to achieve those results. It can take the body a little while to heal, so don't panic too much about the other bits just yet.

Well done, I say!

Very well done.

Well done @lucylocket61 - you’ve worked so hard and have done so well, glad things are changing for you - I too got my results today, I’ll post them in the next couple of days as going to a hen weekend (my niece’s) so busy getting ready to go, but didn’t want to read and run (first time away from caring duty for 5 years - fingers crossed I behave myself ;) )

Hug for the long journey back to better health .

I'd have said brilliant results, given the background...
But I think it's brilliant results regardless of the background .

10 years...bravo

And fully agree on the more fats 'surprise '...proof that for many the stigma of such anti-fat advice doesn't match many of our realities.

Onwards and upwards
Best wishes for further improvements in the months to come.

A Big Well Done You! :)

May I ask what indicates on a full blood count that inflammation markers are very high? and my white blood count is always not normal range but I just think it is because I get allergies/hay fever (anybody in the know have any advice on this) - my DN always says everything is always ok but I am not so sure .... thanks x
