Probably like many on here, I regularly fingerprick test before and after meals. Well, as some if you know, on Nov 30th last year I had my last Hba1c test and it hit 101 - I was horrified and knew unless I made some radical changes I was certain to be prescribed medication. So I dramatically changed my diet and started taking regular exercise.
In slightly under 3 weeks I lost 8lb and eliminated bread and potatoes and any obvious naughties from my diet. As a result my GP agreed to give me until 1st April to see how I got on with thd changes.
Over Christmas I had a wonderful time but managed to stay the same weight (historically over the same period I usually gain 7 - 10lbs).
I have been using an app called MySugr to record my BG readings and while thhe Hba1c result it calculates has a degree of error, it gives me an indication as to whether I'm on the right path.
Tonight my Hba1c according to MySugr was 45.4!! Naturally imnoot seeing these numbers as definitive, but it shows my changes havd made an impact.
I still need to lose about 21lbs and I'm hoping with that additional weight loss and a loos carb diet I will bring my T2 into remission.
Even if I cannot then at least I czn say I did my best.
So for those if us struggling tonight, take heart because if this daft old sop can reduce the numbers then maybe it will offer some hope - because one thing is certain. I didnt do this alone - we are all doing this together
