Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

B: coffee/cream
S: soy/wasabi almonds & some 85%
L: mushroom/garlic/cheddar flax muffin
D: vegemite/avocado/eggs on burgen toast

B: 1 Banana.
L: 2 slices Hovis Wheatgerm toasted with butter & Peanut Butter.
D: Rest of Vegetables in Tomato Sauce (from yesterday) with Basmati Rice.

Later about 8pm: Going to have Fruit Scone with butter.

Brunch: Toasted Lidl roll with peanut butter. 2 cups soya decaf
Dinner: Quorn chilli with cheese again - I'm going mad. Will not make that again for a while.

I'm a bit peed off this evening. I just logged into Mydiabetesmyway and got my recent hba1c test result. Up to 40 (5.8%) this January from 39 (5.7%) last January. Ok, not the end of the world, but I am going to ask for 6 month tests in future in case I am on the slippery slope. Meanwhile, I am going to have to up my game...IF, HIIT, something like that. I will put my thinking head on. Off to polish my anti-statin battle armour before my appointment with nursey in a couple of weeks :mask:

Avo - Whilst I can't knock you wanting to re-focus, I would urge you not to get too stressed over an HbA1c variance of a whole single mmol/mol. As these things are on a sliding scale, we have no way of knowing whether your 39 was effectively rounded down (to 39), or indeed if your 40 involved any rounding upwardly.

I have set myself a small range where I have promised myself I won't throw a wobbler, provided I di my best and stay within that range. To expect, over years and years, to have virtually no variances at all isn't really realistic. All we need is a couple of months of stress, or an unlucky run of infections, roughly adjacent to an HbA1c test and it appears our control is scuppered.

Do you still do any finger prick testing?

Yes, stay focused, but please don't self flagellate over a very small margin.

@AndBreathe Thank you x. You make a very good point about rounding which I hadn't considered.

I still test, but not as much. Mainly if I try any new foods or if I feel odd (like a late afternoon drop). The one I don't regularly test is my fasting. Might sound daft, but it feels like it's the only one over which I have little control so I think "why bother?" My liver means well, I'm sure. Has anyone cracked the DP puzzle yet? I did have a spell in the summer of curfew eating which helped my DP a bit - will read the 16:8 threads as that was a similar idea. I am not upset really, just a bit grumpy. Nursey wont care - she thinks anything under 58 is a good result.

I'm a bit the same - comes in fits & starts with me & I find I just have to get in there & do it whether I feel like it or not :) I'm trying out a new recipe for low carb okonomiyaki later this week - will post it in the low carb recipe section if it's any good.
Good luck .. Have no idea what it is . So interesting X ;)

what is cauli rice risotto? Made with rice or cauliflower? So many things to do with cauliflower

It's a savoury Japanese pancake @Kat100 - almost always has shredded cabbage in it & sweet mayo on it but other than that can vary from region to region. I'm planning to use shredded cabbage, some grated carrot, some smoky tempeh bacon & spring onion.
