Veggie Burger company floats on stock exchange

Ah... yes I could be stuck with the same problem in that sense but I would hope that the situation would be different.
Would you like me to send a link via PM?

Yes please, would be interesting.
Will do. It is a link to a video and if I remember rightly the doctor mentions this at about the twenty minute mark. Don't worry, no images.

Edit to amend. 18-19 min.

Thanks! Won't be able to watch it til tonight though.

I have the view that anything that screams in pain when being dismembered alive, because the throat slitter missed (this is how chickens are killed - hung upside down by their feet, and then pass along a line where hopefully a throat slitting machine cuts their throats for them but if it misses, the chicken is just ripped apart alive) is something I couldn't eat. And yes, I have seen it.

Neither could I eat an animal that has experienced terror and pain as it is goes through the passageway of the slaughterhouse to be killed (whether "humanely" or not). And slaughtermen are somewhat deadened to the suffering of the animals and it's the last of their considerations.

Any being that fights for its life, feels pain and terror, raises its young and would defend them if it only could, seems to me to be very different to a plant which is non-sentient, feels no terror, experiences no physical agony.

However, I know I seem to be in a tiny minority on this board.

My son worked at a slaughter house for 2 days and that did it for him, he has been vegetarian ever since, he's a strapping lad too, but that affected him and I didn't ask any details :(

All three of my brothers worked in the abattoir in Liverpool at one time or another. They did not become vegi/vegan. It takes all sorts.

I am just talking about my son, no one else's relatives.

Once again, I am reminding people that this is the vegetarian section of the forum,
In post #23 Diakat reminded us that

OK guys, this is the Veggie forum. All omnivores are entitled to comment, but perhaps stick to the subject rather than a fondness for meat-based alternatives?

I have just deleted 3 posts from page 2 which were discussing how great/not great certain cuts/types of meat were. Those were off topic and unhelpful.

Further such posts will be deleted.

Actually I decided to go vegetarian many years ago, for 2 1/2 years, then something happened in the family and I succumbed to a bacon sandwich. I still find raw meat difficult to look at and to handle, before cooking, but once it is cooked, it's okay.
My son normally makes his own food, he has a creative nature, but sometimes succumbs to a ready made veggie product. I will ask him if he has heard of this product.

Having given the "why" question a lot of thought, I think it's so that the ones who want to reduce their meat eating but don't really like the idea of eating veggie/vegan style food have something to eat on their non-meat days.
I would also add people who are "forced" to be vegetarian due to medical conditions which make them intolerant to meat; a vegetarian diet is not always a choice.

Thank you @Brunneria

I think we need to be reminded, as stated on the main forum page, this is a
"Forum for people who don't eat meat and those who would like to reduce their meat intake to discuss a vegetarian and/or vegan diet."
Let's get this sub-forum back on track with that purpose for these people.

The thread is about fake meat. The questions raised have been on nutrition, taste etc as well as who the manufacturers target audience are.

Not all - some posts were deleted for straying from that discussion.

I do hope that it was not I who posted inappropriate comments that were deleted. If so, I apologise. I did not see the 'best cut of meat' comments.

@helensaramay - I was just about to post the self-same definition myself.

Folks, this forum is:

"Forum for people who don't eat meat and those who would like to reduce their meat intake to discuss a vegetarian and/or vegan diet."

On the basis of the definition, this thread is being moved. The thread title is a business matter, relating to a commercial enterprise floating on the stock market. It is not dietary, or diabetes.

Don't worry Guzzler, if one of your posts had been deleted you would have received a notification and an explanation of why, so you would not be left wondering. :)

Agree that the thread location was probably misplaced to begin with, but nevertheless the ebb and flow of the conversation was interesting. Sometimes I do feel like these forums are slightly over-moderated to the extent that freedom of expression might be discouraged. That said, I realise it’s a fine line, and I am most certainly not complaining.

So what’s the Rules of Engagement in this topic now that it’s been moved? Is open discussion about the merits or pitfalls of fake meat now back on the table?
