Hey all,

Long time no post.

So underwent a General Anaesthetic and surgery today.

5.3 pre op

Got home and just clocked in at 10.2 after some hospital food but nothing that would notmally spike me past 7.0

Been 6 hours since my last food and 13 hours out of recovery.

Any thoughts or suggestions.

Been in T2 remission for a long time now and not seen a reading higher than 6.5 in all that time 2-3 post meal.

I know illness and stress push blood sugars up for most diabetics. I certainly need more insulin if I'm ill, as a T1 who injects all their insulin. So I wouldn't honestly be surprised that your levels have gone up.

I'll leave T2s in remission to give you some more targeted feedback.

I'd say deffo the surgery.

Thinking it through

While we maybe don't see our bodies as separate from us, it does have a tendency to react how it sees fit to certain situations.

The fact it offers up that lovely morning dawn syndrome, a case in point.

It's reacted to the surgery, raised the alarm to so much of your bodies resources to rush to attend where needed

Some to repel possible infections.
Some to knit and repair damaged tissue.

So all in, I'd say it's been a busy little bee, securing & repairing itself, and it's been doing it since the surgeons became their work.

Hope the surgery went well & the issue suitably resolved

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

To be honest, I'd put it out of my mind until I was recovered from surgery, unless I stayed over, say 10 at all times.

Stress, surgery and trauma can raise numbers, so give yourself a break. Self flagellation is not required at this point.

If you feel ill, start vomitting, or have tummy pains, call 111 for advice would be what I would do.

So going the rite way I guess.

No other symptoms, so guess I'll give it a day or two. As long as it stays under 10 and trends down I'llet it doesn't it's thing.

I'd say deffo the surgery.

That makes sense I guess when I have cold or flu my fasting is always 6+ rather than 4.5-5.3

Guess chopping me up and drilling Into bones is something.

Guess it's full keto for the next few weeks and no feel sorry for myself carbs

Been there.
Done that.

Yep, but while we sleep this wonderful machine of ours keeps on rebuilding us.

So remember to rest up.

Sleep, it's nature's secret healer.

Sleep what's that

Anything over 7 and I'm awake been like a sniper all night

Down to 6.5 now so less stress and sleep today I hope.

Thankyou all for the confirmation words did help with the worry.

This is what “drilling into bones” did to me! It took a few days to get back to normal.
