Hello,

I am asking lot of questions as you may have noticed me in various threads. More I read, more questions I have. Please bear me if you can :)

I am only 38 and weight around 66-67KG ( depending on the day :). Was diagnised T2 2 years back and weight was 76kg. Since then I have reduced to the level I have now. Weight loss was not due to following any diet as except stopping pasta/panini/while flour stuff. I still continued to eat fruits/fat/protein and complex carbs like brown rice etc.

Not to mention I continued to have beer/whiskey etc ( not daily but two/three times a week)

As you can see from my signature, my hbac1 increased after starting to go down.

Recently I have bought the BGM and I can now see what food spike me too much. I have seen reading jumping from 6.5 to 11 after certian foods and then come back to 7.5 etc

Majority of discussion threads/advice i have read tells us to loose weight. I do not want to loose more weight otherwise I will vanish :). Everyone already calls me what happened and why i lost so much weight in last two years. So my question is what can i do lower my BS????

Go on ultra low carb? Will I loose more weight?

Are there others who do not have T2 because of weight etc?

Not all type 2 have got their diabtes because of being too fat, actually it is maybe the other way around; so that the insuline resistance has resulted in them becoming more and more obese.

Many type 2 maybe almost all type 2 diabetics cannot use their insulin optimally and the blood glucose can not be cleared out of the blood as fast and as fully as a healthy non-diabetic person can emediately clear the blood of too high levels of blood glucose. the body in a type 2 has a very rised insulin level, sometimes even up till ten times the normal level, but even then the insulin can not rid the blood of excess blood glucose.. but still when having these abnormal high levels of insulin , the body has not lost it´s abillity of storing the glucose as fat and the body creating even more fat cells..
everything points then to the carbs, which is the main factor in rising blood glucose
less carbs = lower blood glucose
( if eating far too many grams of protein the liver can also transform excess protein into blood glucose, many type 2 also seem to have an overactive liver )

what is then left to eat ? when carbs need to be lowered and proteins has to be more precise in intake, then there is only fat left for food... which is why many in here controls their blood glucose by LCHF = Low Carb High Fat

all you need to do is increase your fats and proteins, while reducing your carbs, until you find the level of food which maintains your weight while stabilising your blood sugar levels.

thanks @Freema , i will reduce my carbs intake and increase fats and protein and see how i get on

Hi. It sounds like you may be late onset T1 and not T2. Mis-diagnosis is very common. What meds are you on? You may need to ask the GP for the two tests for T1 i.e. GAD and c-peptide. Unplanned weight loss is typically due to the body burning fat as it doesn't have enough insulin to metabolise the carbs.

:(

no meds. i was never offered meds ad was told to cut sugar etc. i was never big sugar eater but to cut out any added sugar.

this time nurse asked me if i wanted, i refused.

what is late onset T1. I have read that T1 you are born with.

my weight loss was not unplanned as i cut carbs from diet. it stablised at 68 in 6 months from 76. after that i couldnt looose more with die.

As you Don't want to loose weight, then you can put on some additional muscle if you choose. With resistance training you can burn additional glucose without insulin getting involved, with a further benefit of possibly increasing your metabolism to aid torching fat and building some lean muscle mass. If you choose this route start slowly, warm up well and stretch. Focus on good form and going to fatigue after a while. You can do HiiT based workouts, with compound movements (YouTube), which will provide maximum benefit for minimum time. If you can get in some deadlifts, these work around 13 muscle groups so are brilliant for building toning muscle and GLUT4 uptake of glucose.
