What’s happened to the forum?

@Carson_dcuk , @Administrator , is it correct you or another admin are sending PMs to some members asking for feedback on the new forum?
Just double checking because of online safety.

@jjraak and @Mrs T 123 , private messages are just that, private. So no-one except the participants can see them.
I expect the PMs are perfectly genuine, but as a Mod, I'd also like to know what they are about. If you'd like, you could report the message by hitting the report button below it. This will only show the reported message to the team, not any replies you may have given.
@Antje77 FYI ... I have now reported the pm I was sent - the reason I gave was querying - I hope this is helpful to you ...

I have never got an advert with the old forum software, or this new version as I use "Block This" on out android devices when were out and about. At home the Androids and our Chrome books they run through the wifi network, and I use Alternate DNS set up in the modem / router to block ads.

I have pm turned off in my profile except for recieving them from the Admins and Mods.

@Antje77 , I'm content the PMs are genuine (then notified via email, if this is what the user has set up). They will be being sent in batches, so as not to break the email servers, and also to cope with any responses received. There's little point messaging everyone together and then not being able to even read the responses, never mind take any relevant actions.

Messaging everyone is a bold move, not usually undertaken, but perhaps it is in an attempt to address the "noise" quickly.

It seems darned if the do and darned if they don't.

I filled this in a few days ago - the day the forum changed, it’s the same survey that’s running across the top of your page, or at least I have it at the top of the page not sure if anyone else has but who knows these days ;) -

Yup, they're genuine and come from @Administrator . At a quick glance and from memory it's the same questionnaire that used to be advertised at the top of the page (on a computer) saying something like: "Have you taken the 2022 DCUK survey yet? Click here: [link to survey]"

I know some members have turned off the PM function because of anxiety issues but of course mod and admin PMs go through that barrier. I hope it isn't being sent to members who turned off the PM function.

Hello folks!

I hope everyone's doing well. Thanks for bearing with the DCUK team while we update the forum. Frustratingly, these things are never straightforward on the technical end, but we're committed to reconnecting you all with your beloved forum features.

I just wanted to let people know that the following issues are being addressed throughout this week:

1. Forum colour scheme - We're aware people don't like the red theme and will be offering an alternative to choose from! We'll let you know when this is ready.

2. Post reactions - As people have mentioned in this thread, the update has disrupted the configuration we previously had for the various post reactions (The WHOA reacts, as you have all lovingly called them!). These will be added from tomorrow and may appear/disappear over around an hour while we take care of some additional configuration.

3. Unanswered threads - This feature does still exist and can be accessed by clicking 'Find Threads' in the forum's navigation and clicking on 'Unanswered threads' OR by navigating to the following link: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/find-threads/unanswered. I understand that this isn't convenient for most of us, so we'll be moving it to a more prominent location once other issues have been resolved.

In the meantime, if you could all keep on leaving your feedback in this thread we'll make sure everything reaches the team.

Thank you all, as ever, for your patience with us while we work out the kinks! :)

I love the red colour scheme on UI.X format - it’s much clearer than the ‘default’ which has red text. The black text in UI.X format is a better contrast.

Thanks for all you’re doing to get things sorted.
Please guide. How can I change the colors. Thanks

I have a new gripe which has made an old gripe rear its ugly head again.

I don't want push notifications so have pressed the 'don't ask me again' tab. I do still want email notifications of Pms. These are now being delayed, where they used to be sent instantly I received the PM. I once belonged to a small forum where the notifications were delayed in the same way. I hope this isn't going to be permanent.

The old gripe: I joined the Low Carb Program right at the very beginning. All went well for over a year or so, and then I couldn't login to it. I did send emails and PMs but nothing was ever done about it. I wasn't too bothered as I was only in there to help others and if my help wasn't wanted anymore then that was OK. However, I have recently started getting emails from Louise from the Low Carb Program. I do not wish to receive these or belong to the Low Carb Program any longer, so I would be grateful if you could stop sending me the emails and remove my name from the Low Carb Program, but keep me here in the forum. I haven't bothered asking before I didn't want to risk my account here being closed in error! The unsolicited emails from Louise are an annoyance I no longer wish to have, and I can't cancel them myself as I can't login to the Low Carb Program. I have already made sure that in 'Preferences' the 'Received news and update emails' and the 'receive activity summary email' boxes are unchecked for the general forum, but this doesn't stop the ones coming from the Low Carb Program.

I hope you can help, perhaps it will be easier to do now we have this shiny new forum. :)
