What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Sounds like they will:-
However, Conservative MP John Redwood, who suggested Britain would get a better deal outside the EU than Switzerland or Norway, dismissed the warning. "I don't think he [Wissman] speaks for the German government," he said.

"We've heard [German Chancellor] Angela Merkel take a fairly emollient line. She is only too well aware that German industry is saying to her: 'For goodness sake do not end up with tariffs and barriers in the way of our very substantial exports to the United Kingdom market.'"

I note how the previously passionate Brexiters have now gone very quiet on this thread.
Perhaps that is because every time Brexiters express an opinion we get 'shouted down' by multiple remainers on the thread?

I'm sorry leavers don't feel listened to/shouted down. That's really sad if people aren't listening and talking. I'm angry - but trying to do positive things, community events etc, rather than let it eat me up - about people who didn't do any of their own research and blithely believed the hype (both sides)! And I think either way it went, there would've been a backlash, particularly down to the very, very small margins involved. I absolutely agree that it's not the voters fault, but that of the referendum in itself, and the misinformation that circulated. And jeez. DC is a silly boy, isn't he? What a mess he's left behind!
I am sorry if my (previously mentioned anger) has felt aimed at anyone in particular - it isn't, but I appreciate that it may feel that way.
I wonder if there are many people who regret their vote (again - from either angle)? Out of interest?

Depends on your point of view.
It's money to bail out the pound, and the banks now.
That's where money always goes.
But you should only need to do this once. If done properly.
The future investment can be on Wales, then Scotland then Northern Ireland again. One thing at a time.
On the UK.
Our country has needs, will always.
Like running a home and 2 cars.
Ok sometimes they can all need something together. A patch up on one area to invest in the other until its anothers turn.
That's what was coming from the EU. In turns or patches.
At least we don't have to beg for handouts as its our own money.
Yes sometimes you have to borrow if the interest is worth having. Sometimes you don't.

I'm not implying it, that was the reputation of that factory/foundry. I think you may be forgetting that it was largely the women who worked back home in the UK to win the war whilst the menfolk were away fighting.
I wonder what percentage were woman and what percentage were men voting either side?
Not that it matters.

I think that is the epitome of brexit.

You have a statement, directly from the President of the German Automotive Industry Association, stating they have no intention of dealing with us, except on their terms. Clear. No possibility it can be mis construed.
A statement of german manufacturing intent, made in public, by their President.
In response, a backbench tory MP, supporting brexit, 'dismissed the warning', and seemed to claim they're actually saying the opposite as a nation, and that they'll come running to us?
Which planet is he on again?
Whichever one it is, it must have a lot of beaches, as a lot of people are living there with their heads in the sand.

I think it may be because events seem not to be going in the direction Farage and Boris imagined they would, but more in the direction the remain predicted?
And the 'leave' team has publicly come and and disavowed their promises, and admitted they haven't any plans on how to proceed now?

There is a lot opf good commentary on the FT website. It is sadly behind a paywall though. It tends more towards the @SunnyExpat view

I am actually feeling quite disappointed and sad with the result of Brexit but what is done cannot be undone. No use crying over spilled milk. Although I am an outsider, let us hope and pray Britain will rebound quickly and a new leader elected to bring the country forward without looking back. British people are a resilient lot and they will weather the storm.

Some people who don't like conflict are just backing down to appease others.
Its their personal business. Thats why voting is done anonymously. No duress.

It's not really anonymous.
Every ballot paper has a number on it,
Every polling station has it's own box,
All it would take is a few hours putting the papers through a reader, and you could identify everyone in the country.

As we are now aware, LOSING was not an option and although the party was divided - they thought the Remainers could not lose, nobody predicted this, not even the Polls. All we need now is Trump to become the next US President

Well don't look at Boris or Gove then!!!!! Boris made a hash of being Mayor of London and Gove was so bad as Education minister that they got rid of him. All Boris wants is to be Prime Minister and I think he saw his opportunity with the Leave campaign. He is not in the least bit interested in the average person in this country. He didn't build one council house in all his time in office in London, spending all the money on Boris bikes and taking up half the roads with bike lanes that nobody uses because they are all still riding on the pavements. He wasted a fortune getting survey after survey on land further down the Thames because he wznted to build an airport there and each team of surveyors kept telling him it wasn't feasible. And both Boris and Gove wanted to privatises the NHS and make people take out insurance. God help us if either of them get more power!

They won't have the money to help anyone! The country is going down the pan!

You are living in cloud cookoo land!!!!!!

Well if The Donald wins, Boris will invite him onto his broken static trip wire and we'll then be escorted to the front of the USA trade deal queue

....the fact that it is not utterly ridiculous makes it all the more frightening!

That's not what the Citymen are saying.
Cameron wanted to save money to have a bigger fund for a rainny day.
Not debt, not really.
His rainny day is now. Cut services have paid to prop up the banks. Again.
We are not skint by any means. I don't know any conservative supporter who is.

@KevinPotts there will always be supply and demand.
Id have prefered we supplied rather than just demand.
The whole of the north-east prefer to make something to sell. Its been that way for generations. We are blocked by rules and regulations which stifle development. The cost to start up something to replace old industries is crippling. No money like that in the north-east.
Maybe once less red tape we can enjoy life again. Cod for a reasonable price and putting up a tent to sell beer etc... won't cost the earth.

Which particular "rules and regulations" do you think will go away @ickihun?

With the move away from the EU, the majority will remain as UK statute due to the way they are inextricably linked in and the scale and cost of the admin task of removing them.

What are you thinking that we might start up to replace old industries that can't be made more cheaply outside the UK? Remember that James Dyson, that bastion of the leave campaign moved construction of his vacuum cleaners to Malaysia because it was cheaper to produce them that way. To all intents and purposes we are a service economy these days with some specialist manufacturing skills and a car industry predicated on better labour laws, business friendly policies and EU access.

If we are selling to the EU, which I assume we still want to do, the products still need to adhere to European standards and carry a CE mark. That doesn't change. What you are considering red tape just isn't going to disappear.

Quite a lot of people are in 'shock' - literally! It's going to be a very interesting few years, but realistically, the NHS is a god-send and everyone is definitely aligned in thinking that it's worth protecting every inch of the way.
