What an interesting thought you raise that as we become older and wiser our previous shortcomings stand out. I have never thought about it like that before. That certainly encourages us to give our past selves some grace. I really appreciate this post @shelley262We do all feel like this - well I do. I also feel the older and possibly wiser you become the more your mistakes stand out. A psychologist friend once advised me about a very traumatic experience that happened to me as a child that had re-emergered because of the other traumas I was going through - to put that past experience into a metal box to which I had the key and to lock it up and just put the key away from now. I did that and rarely feel the need to find the key. Time passes and we need to know that it's human to feel this way and to be honest people who don't worry about mistakes and difficult or traumatic things they have experienced are maybe not people who we'd enjoy spending time with ?

Well, I suppose that's the reason for the special offers @shelley262. The makers set out to tempt you, They're out to persuade you that their chocolate is better than their competitors' products and buying theirs saves you money.Mid afternoon got the munchies mainly because I bought some 85% chocolate a few days ago and it's been calling me! Ate about half the bar it was very sweet but unfortunately I enjoyed it! I really do need to stick to Montezuma s 100% and do mainly but then get tempted by these pesky offers
Well done for going for it Antje and good luck for being successful and then that you actually like the job. Also good luck with the complicated love (if the right word) triangle. It doesn’t matter where you are in life challenges just appear. Just put yourself first!
Never mind, we shared a bed again yesterday, which was a complete surprise for both of us. Neither of us expected this but he needed the hugs after our friend being clear about her intentions, and I simply enjoy sleeping cuddled up.For myself, I fear the sleepovers with my neighbour won't be happening anytime soon, our friend spent the night with him last night, which almost certainly got the fire of him being in love with her roaring again, and I don't think he'll be comfortable with me in his bed for now.
Which is ok, but I don't have to like it.
I had a phone call today with a very nice lady from the employment agency!Motivation letter written today, resumé as well (managed no lies while also managing to more or less hide some 10 years of only the very occasional work), 4 friends with different backgrounds read and approved.
Never in history has so much sweat and stress been put into a job application letter and resumé for a job needing no previous experience and no education.
It'll be sent in tomorrow.
Good luck with the appointment on Monday. Stay positive. I'm sure your personality will see you through, never mind the disadvantages that you perceive in yourself.Never mind, we shared a bed again yesterday, which was a complete surprise for both of us. Not today though, I'm about to turn off the light.
We had a very good evening eating together (a duck from our own garden, we had too many males who were pestering the females), and some playful romping like you do as a child. I'm sure I'll have some sore spots tomorrow, he's larger and stronger than I am, but this wrestling brought back some wonderful memories.
I think it's pretty amazing to have this type of physical but not sexual fun at our age, I was so sad when at 11 years old my aunt announced I'd grown too strong for play fighting.
I had a phone call today with a very nice lady from the employment agency!
I have an appointment monday afternoon, and she was positive about starting to work shortly.
So I'm positive, although I am a bit apprehensive about the meeting. Being 47 on the phone is not the same as being 47 in your face, and I haven't mentioned my BMI of around 35, which isn't helpful in a physical job. Haven't mentioned diabetes either but I'm less worried about that than about my physical fitness.
This thread was started because of us all enjoying the off topic chat a bit too much on the main thread. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today-low-carb-forum.75781/page-3135I wonder if I could make a suggestion about the title of this thread - as we tend to post our food along with other aspects of our lives and how food affects those, would "Low carb lifestyle chat" or something like that be more inviting to new people? I like that we can have a joke and a laugh along with it as well, and isn't that an important part of supporting any way of eating?
I know from other people's posts I'm not alone in finding this thread extremely helpful when I'm struggling and very encouraging when I'm doing well.
Edit: I never see this thread in "Latest posts" either, not sure why?
Ah thanks for the explanation! It just felt a bit like the naughty corner! This thread was started because of us all enjoying the off topic chat a bit too much on the main thread. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today-low-carb-forum.75781/page-3135
So the idea was to have mainly food in that one, and as much chat as we wished in this one.
Threads not specifically about diabetes are in the General Chat section of the forum, alongside the Forum Games and Jokes and Humour.
Posts in this section don't show up in Latest Posts because they generally aren't questions about diabetes. Some chat threads and forum games move very fast, and if they would show up in Latest Post, genuine questions would be completely drowned and hard to find.
Personally, I make a point of posting my food in the main thread because new members are more likely to find that one first, and it's very useful to see what a LC way of eating can look like.
I regularly post a link to the main thread in reply to people asking what they can eat, but it's just as easy to post a link to this thread in case people like more chat around food and all other aspects of life.
I've just listened to Eric westman interviewing Chris Palmer about his background as to why he went into psychiatry and about some recent patient experiences - fascinating stuff. It's a recent one in the excellent series by Dr Westman called Keto made simple learn with Eric Westman. Coincidentally he did an excellent one with DrUnwin a few weeks back. I listen on spotify but sure you'll find on another platform if you don't have spotify. I love listening to Dr Westman he's got a lovely voice. I'd recommend if you've not come across this series. Edit to add he interviewed Dr ede in December too.Having a good day in the garden today - @shelley262 I've listened to Dr Georgia Ede on Dr Ken Berry's you tube channel while gardening, very helpful and motivating, thank you for that recommendation. Another one I must catch up on is Dr Unwin, I've been neglecting him!
For breakfast (10am) I had 3 small chicken thighs (they are pretty tiny, smaller than some wings!) and 2 hardboiled eggs with butter.
I'm slow cooking savoury beef mince today - the one I was supposed to do yesterday had accidentally got left out overnight after defrosting and I just wasn't really sure about it, so had to chuck it.
My kefir is still trying to take over the world! I am now drinking it without mixing in any shop bought, and really enjoying it.
Eric Westman is on you tube, he's brilliant and I agree, lovely voice! I watch one of his videos almost every day. I will look for the interview with Dr Ede.I've just listened to Eric westman interviewing Chris Palmer about his background as to why he went into psychiatry and about some recent patient experiences - fascinating stuff. Yup Kefir getting too lively again it loves it a bit warmer but gets harder to manage as it gets hotter.
I'm planning to finish fence painting tomorrow - a job I started over a month ago and wasn't able to complete because of weather - no more excuses 're the weather so off out in a bit to prepare for first thing in morning to stop me procrastinating!
Also must put hm chicken curry to slow cook.
Winner for the fence work! I am the same with nuts, and with the creamed coconut that I bought a while back. Looks like we're both attacking the garden work first thing tomorrowLast bit of fence all cleared and ready for painting first thing in the morning.
First thing hm kefir then fried one slice of bacon and egg
Lunch I'd weakened and bought some nuts, managed to not buy any for a while - one of my difficult to ration foods - so ate more of them than planned!it's definitely true that the only way to cope with food that you over eat is to not buy it and have it in the house! Nuts technically good for you and lowish carb but not if you can't ration them out. Also had cheese and LC olinas seeded crackers - managed to get four packs from Waitrose at reduced price, very pleased I love a bargain.
Also had a few strawberries and hm yoghurt
Dinner HM chicken curry with raita and coriander and LC roti
Hope everyone has had a good day.
