The chowder was actually not too bad - it tasted better the next day (today) so I thought I would offer it to my lunch guests as an alternative to the lentil soup I'd made. And I burnt it! I put it onto the hob at too high a heat really to get it going, intending to turn it down after a few minutes. I was already struggling to stay upright so I thought I'd just rest my aching bones for a minute or so. Then I couldn't get up again and while I was trying, the chowder stuck on the bottom of the pan and burned. I could smell it and, of course, I could taste it. So, there was no choice to offer - it was lentil soup or nothing. Just as well it didn't burn. I am still soaking the chowder pan, trying to get the burnt stuff off the bottom without damaging the pan. It hasn't worked yet but tomorrow I'll boil it out with soda. That'll do the job.
Breakfast today was a small bowl of the chowder (while it still tasted allright).
Lunch: lentil soup (small bowl).
3rd meal: another small bowl of the chowder - it's not good enough to serve to guests, but is still edible.
