My parents told us when we were kids that a lot of beef meat in England came from Argentina and it was better to ear than the local stuff. This was because it took five to six weeks for the refrigerated ship to get to England. It was not frozen but well chilled. So well hung beef for tenderness.
My endo proposed starting at 1000 mg, to which I immediately replied "500!" with the thought of increasing after a week.At the start I took one daily for a week, then two daily, then stopped increasing when I reached 3 per day.
Gosh never heard about this but gather it was in Aberdeen in 1964 and was because a large tin used in a supermarket WMLow sliced it but tin had been accidentally contaminated by typhoid when washed with untreated water - you learn something new every day on this forum! Most our fresh meat come from the local butcher, so that gets put in the freezer so no worries about the date, the bit we get from Woolies gets used first in most cases, stuff like the extra bacon hocks we got during our winter time went in the freezer as well.
Same as fish and fresh prawns.
We eat a lot of mushrooms as we like them sliced up raw in a salad so they are preferred firm, the others can be fried or put in a stew.

Tinned corned beef from Argentina had a bad reputation as it caused a cholera outbreak in the 1950's in the UK, I was a bit wary about a tin I found in the cuboard that was out of date, it tasted alright and now scours from it in savoury hash.
That's it, it was the 60's, and came in big tins. If remember from what I read about it it was Armour brand corned beef.Gosh never heard about this but gather it was in Aberdeen in 1964 and was because a large tin used in a supermarket WMLow sliced it but tin had been accidentally contaminated by typhoid when washed with untreated water - you learn something new every day on this forum!
Including the Devil peeing on Michelmas day !
I had metformin reaction quite quickly and mine continued to give me low levels of gastric troubles through the two years I took them. Once gp said I no longer needed them I was happy to stop and my gut settled again. Think it’s very individual sounds promising for you that no reaction yet - crossing my fingers for you. I’d happily take Metformin if it suited me.My endo proposed starting at 1000 mg, to which I immediately replied "500!" with the thought of increasing after a week.
Then we both got distracted so now my box of 30 tablets says take one per day.
So far so good, and if it stays that way I plan to increase in a week, as is usual, and play the idiot if I decide to ask for more. After all, she initially said 1000, so.
Still curious to know how long after starting people started to experience side effects. Days? Hours? I've been apprehensive all day, but nothing!
But does this mean I'm safe or may I get nasty surprises in three days?
I've had remarkably boring BG's over the past 24 hours on relatively low doses of insulin, but I attribute that to coincidence for now. Took the tablet around noon.
Doesn't Australia have its own rich source of tales?
I have 3 pillows. One is straight across, the other two form a v shape, diagonally across each other.I'm thinking of buying one of those pillows that prop you up in bed so that I can go to sleep in my bed sitting up. A straightforward pile of pillows doesn't work - I just slump down from them and end up desperate for breath again. A straightforward back support would have the same effect. I'm thinking of, perhaps, one of those inverted "V" shaped pillows, or even a thing that looks like the top part of an armchair. Has anyone tried either of those?
It might be worth seeing if you can find a bed with an adjustable frame so you won't have to fiddle with pillows.I'm thinking of buying one of those pillows that prop you up in bed so that I can go to sleep in my bed sitting up.
