Today I decided I was going to sort out the small freezer and see what I could throw out, and if I could make space for some cupcakes. Found loads of little pots of veg stock plus 3 single serving packs of brisket in gravy and another four of something labelled "beef hotpot". Not at all sure what is in that. One thing is obviously tomato, judging by the colour of the frozen gravy around them. I was going to send them down for the dogs but, instead, decided to thaw them all out in a big pot and see what I am left with. Some basil, parsley and chilis which had lost their lids but were still frozen. Might add those to the beef tomorrow, if it's worth keeping. Also found four whole packs of frozen veg which I'd forgotten about - one of them is edame beans and will not be used, so gave them to DIL for her chickens. Also another little pot of home baked (butter) beans - they'll do for tomorrow. Still can't make enough room for the cupcakes.
This afternoon, Em's cooking experiment was some milk with a tiny amount of salt, a crumbled digestive biscuit, a few tiny chunks of cooking chocolate, some cashew nuts, a mint imperial, a dairylea triangle and a fruit pastille - all heated in the microwave. It boiled over in the microwave (the bowl was too small) and spilled out onto the floor, so that meant cleaning the microwave and mopping the floor. She actually ate it and said it was quite good, especially the surprise of finding the still unmelted cheese and fruit pastille! I think it's a good idea for her to experiment (within reason) and learn from her mistakes.
