"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Feeling a little more positive today - I had scrambled eggs for breakfast with a small slice of home made bread. I'm not sure about tea yet.

It's a strange day weather wise, lots of heavy showers and some odd moments of sun peeking through. I'm actually getting on with some really important jobs indoors.
 
Breakfast was 2 slices of a quite small Lorne sausage with some cheese melted onto them and a fried egg on top of each. Surprisingly not very filling but it kept me going for a while until just a few minutes ago when I had 2 tiny crackers with some more cheese.

This morning I made what was supposed to be sandwich spread - veg cut into tiny brunoise and "pickled" overnight with lemon juice, with mayo and yoghurt but it is more like a salad than a spread, so I'll use that with the 2nd meal today which will be a mixed salad of some kind.

That sounds delicious! I've been not having coffee for a few days and I might be speaking too soon, but my digestive issues have settled right down. I will carry on with green tea, which I am enjoying, and live in hope!

So far so good with my digestive issues as well. Neil reckons he had the same issues with instant coffee but he's OK with ground coffee. Might pluck up courage to try that soon.

The attempt at a sandwich spread made a perfectly good salad.

My dental plate broke again. We fixed it with some superglue yesterday but it broke again today (I would go and eat one of those very small but hard crackers). I've glued it together again and hope it will hold out for a while - I can't get my replacement one until 19th November. No crackers until then.

2nd meal will be salmon with some more of the "sandwich spread".

I'm supposed to be going out for my 2nd meal and have made chicken biryani again. I won't be able to eat anything there, so will have the salmon as a late lunch and just have tea with everyone else. I made the biryani yesterday before I broke my false teeth and was considering having some of it myself. That decision is made for me - I shan't be eating carbs.

I assume I'd feel a high at around 10-12, but I haven't been there in ages, and I feel a low between 3.3 and 3.7.
So if I have no idea what my bg is, it must be somewhere in between that, but I would correct either way usually way before I get to 3.5 or over 8.

Today will be the second day off my bolognese type sauce turned tomato soup with water, a stock cube, and some added tinned tomatoes, with a slice of buttered LC toast. Will eat right after posting this.

Monday and tuesday will be my last two days on the bridge this year, season starts again in April.
So my plan was to order Cinese takeaway tomorrow (lasts me at least two days) to celebrate, and because There is no chinese restaurant with acceptable dishes near my home so this is my last chance until next year.
However, the restaurant where I've ordered before and where I know the dish I'll order will be lowish carb is closed on mondays.
Too late now to prepare food for tomorrow on the bridge so we'll see. Maybe I'll try a different Chinese takeaway, maybe something else.

The plate broke again on just a cup of tea. On the way home my friend took me to Tolsta - an extra 5 miles each way - to take the broken plate to a dental technician who lives there. Interesting journey -neither of us had been there before, it was dark, raining and no street lights down country lanes. We got there though and he will fix my plate by lunchtime tomorrow. Interesting as well that he will charge me £10 to do the job whereas the dentist charges £30 to give him the job to do. Must be nice to be a dentist - well, perhaps not, having to look into people's mouths all day. But a 200% mark up is a bit much, I think.

Only if you'd like to.
Remember I was misdiagnosed T2 first, so low carb was the logical route, even after starting insulin a month after diagnosis.
Considering my insulin needs and my weight, I have a fair bit of insulin resistance going on with my T1, so sticking to low carb made sense. Plus, I find it so much easier mentally to not see all the swings from high carb meals, it just makes life easier for me.
But this doesn't mean it's the same for you.

It's 5 months, not 6.
And jumping through all the required hoops to get money because i lost my job doesn't exactly feel like a holiday, so far it triggered a not very welcome bout of anxiety, working is much easier!

I'm very happy with a couple of weeks off, but after that I'd rather have another job. Just not one in a warehouse or a cake factory with no sunlight, and my shoulders, hands and knees say no to a physical job outside, much as I'd like that.

So any ideas on a job are welcome!

I wasn’t sure if it was a planned thing, @Antje77. Or that this was a seasonal post. What a pity, because you seemed to really enjoy it. Are you saying that the job on the bridge will be available to you again in April, and you would like to find some work until then?
I don’t know how the employment system works in the Netherlands, but would love to help you with ideas if that is what you want? The experience you have gained this past several months is good to have on your resume. PM me if you like.

Off to bed now, there's a bridge to be manned tomorrow morning, even though there are very few boats wanting an opening.
 
Brr. It's cold, windy and rainy. I'm going to roast some home grown carrots and swede (and some shop bought parsnips) in the slow cooker today and I might make some soup as well. I'll have some roasted vegetables with chicken today, I think. I'll make another slow cooker minced beef stew thing after the roasted vegetables.

I moved the last sowings of carrots and spring onions into the polytunnel last week, ahead of a light frost. The potatoes had a little frost on the leaves but I'm hoping they'll be okay. It's just a gamble really. i could move them into the polytunnel as well but that would be quite a job, I'd have to clear out the tables and random stuff I've *cough* temporarily stored in there. I should have done that last week too, of course!
 
No teeth so breakfast had to be very soft. Neil was searching through the larder and told me there were 6 cans of tomato soup on the shelf. No idea why they were there but I had one of them for breakfast. Not my favourite and not really diabetic suitable, but there we are. I also made some savoury dropped scones because the soup left me hungry. BG isn't unreasonable considering.

I should get my repaired false teeth back early afternoon so will be able to eat a 2nd meal. Salmon and salad, I think.

There's a children's Halloween party coming up next Saturday so I'll be making cupcakes and cookies for that with spiders, pumpkins, ghostly white sheets, etc.

Breakfast: 2 pork sausages and 2 fried eggs. BG was hovering around upper 7's and lower 8's but now is down to 5.6. I did take insulin so hope it was the right amount. I never really know.

2nd meal will be some mixed vegetable soup which I've just made (chicken stock). With any luck that will be enough today.

Oddly, my friend has just been told that she is pre-diabetic and told to cut right down on starches. She is under a different medical practice to me. They obviously are a bit more clued up than my doctors. She acknowledges that she eats loads of rice and potatoes (she's Persian) but is going to have to cut right down on those. She doesn't eat much sweet stuff and apart from the rice/potatoes, eats mostly vegetable dishes with the occasional meat dish thrown in. Her diet is reasonably healthy - apart from the starches. However, I noticed on Sunday that she had a pile of rice on her plate. Difficult for her to get her head around. She's eaten lots of rice all of her life.
 
Breakfast: Half of a frittata I made yesterday. The soup wasn't enough for the 2nd meal so I made a frittata with some ricotta and 2 eggs, with some of the veg I had left over from making the soup and had half of it. That left half for today.

2nd meal will be sausage casserole with pumpkin, onion and (probably) carrot. Must get going with that before I start on the Halloween baking.

Wow, you took the time looking up vacancies for suitable jobs in the Netherlands, from Russia, on a UK based community, this is absolutely one of the most touching things that has happened here! (There were more very touching things throughout the years like Sinterlaas poems and even presents, but I won't tag those lovely people because part of those conversations were through PM. Still, thank you, you know who you are!)

@Zhnyaka , I think you are correct in that those are jobs I could do, and I might even be good at them.
But I wan to be outside!
