Porridge for breakfast, garden salad with cottage cheese for lunch and something from the freezer for tea with vegetables from the garden.

I'm out to run some errands this morning then I'll do a bit in the garden, as the sun will be behind clouds later according to the forecast. Although it's only going to be a high of 19c the sun is very hot when it's out and it seems like it's been sunny every afternoon forever.

I wonder what August's weather will be like? Last year August was cool and damp here, it felt like autumn came very early.

Oh, what to have for breakfast. Very sore with a new pain making movement difficult so I'm a bit restricted. There's still some of the sausage casserole left but, to be honest, it doesn't appeal just now, even though I'm hungry. Within reach, there's RyVita (wasn't going to have carbs but might have to), there's some butter. Nothing much else. Maybe I'll hobble over to the fridge and get some ham to go with it, or there might be some cottage cheese there. Coffee anyway.

2nd meal will be the sausage casserole, then.

My tomatoes are ripening in better numbers now so cooking some in olive oil for breakfast again on LC toast. Lunch will be garden salad with some smoked trout and dinner will be chicken curry - but with a few garden veg thrown in including a courgette that is threatening to become a marrow if not picked soon and a few more runner beans.
Looks like a lovely day we are heading into town this morning to look at the local horticultural show - a few friends have veggies and flowers entered, will be interesting to see. Will need to avoid the full gluten, starch and sugar cakes though - think we get tea\coffee and cake with the entrance fee!

@shelley262 last year I wished I'd entered a show because my runner beans were real winners, I think - this year they'e been very curly so wouldn't get far :hilarious: Hope your friends did well with their entries!

I had a fish finger bap which was served with a big salad and I asked them to leave the side of chips off (didn't eat the bap) for brunch, it was a lovely catch up with two friends. For tea I had some pork belly bits from the freezer with runner beans and two little new potatoes.

My courgettes have been sulking a bit, I'm not sure what was wrong with them but they stopped producing for a few days, and now they have half a dozen little courgettes each so maybe picking back up. Two different plants, one is easy gold and one is romanesco, both treated exactly the same, so maybe it was the slightly cooler weather after such heat? Or maybe they produce in waves like that? It's my first successful courgette year so all new to me! I wanted to have a couple each for my friends, but they had to make do with french beans, runner beans and a couple of cucumbers each :hilarious:

@Annb I hope you've had a more comfortable day today and managed to enjoy the sausage casserole.

Interestingly had a good discussion at the show about Runner Beans - hardly any of the entries had the right number of straight similar size runner beans because everyone has had the same issue this year. In fact I gather there was even a letter in the Telegraph this year about the runner bean issue! A lot of the entries were poorish compared to previous years. A few friends did get prizes and one was for tomatoes from one of the plants I gifted to a friend from the plants I grew from seeds. So I'm basking in reflected achievement!

More garden tomatoes planned for breakfast, salad with smoked trout for lunch and I'm cooking some chicken this morning to have cold with salads later. I've got my two hours of free electricity this morning and also it's predicted to be hotter again later. Will also use the hot oven to do a LC bake to top up the low carb bread stocks.
Raspberries are doing amazing this year so they will also be eaten with yoghurt but may also start freezing some- as try to limit myself to a few but they are very tempting.

Porridge for breakfast, then after a couple of hours I was hungry so had a greek yoghurt snack with a couple of pink blueberries - there are not many but they are lasting on the bush, and they're so tasty you only need very few. I must look after this bush for next year!

Salad from the garden for lunch, the sungold tomatoes are just ripening now and they are so delicious. They are the complete package for a tomato, sweet, bright, with a little tang. I might grow only those next year, with perhaps a novelty variety as well.

Tea will be fish fingers or chicken with some cauliflower I got in Aldi in their super six, I couldn't resist. Really big and fresh caulis - so I made an exception to eating "only from the garden" vegetables for them! I'll also have a couple of little new potatoes with tea, when they're cooked and chilled they don't have much impact on my BG at all, but then I do take several medications as well.

Edit: one of the courgettes is ready so I'll have that fried with tea as well.

Breakfast didn't happen until after 1 pm. Haven't been able to stand up with any ease and walking was out of the question. So I really wasn't thinking about eating or drinking anything. Had some tea (new jar of coffee was still in the larder and I couldn't get to it). I had a couple of dry RyVitas - fresh pack of butter still in the fridge in the back porch, well beyond reach.

Legs and back are marginally better this afternoon. Just taken another dose of my painkillers to see if that will do any good.

There's some chicken, onion and mushrooms in the oven just now so I'll have some of that eventually.

Porridge for breakfast, greek yoghurt for lunch with a very small handful of pink blueberries, and I have a me-invented slow cooker thing going on with gammon, mushrooms, garlic and onion in coconut milk - the coconut milk will be added later, I'm letting the gammon cook fully with the mushrooms etc. before adding that. It's seasoned with some truffle dust and maybe I'll add a vegetable stock cube if it needs one.

Although it's another hot day here, up to 28c apparently, it's not that bad outside as the sun is going behind clouds a bit, and there's a good strong breeze. I need to go and finish the watering and harvesting now, I stopped to do some house chores and get the gammon thing on, as the gammon was on its use by date.

Breakfast didn't happen again until just now - 1.30. I thought I would just have some cottage cheese, but one teaspoonful let me know that it wasn't on. So I just had coffee again. At 1.30 I had some RyVita with cheese melted onto it. (BG was dropping too low, so I had to have something.)

Main meal will be chicken and mushroom chowder - nearly ready to go, so however bad the legs are, I should manage it.

I thought it was me, when I couldn't take the cottage cheese yesterday morning, but I realized that, although it was a new tub, it was definitely off. Tried again this morning, just to make sure. It's in the bin now. So I just had Tartex on 2 Ryvitas for breakfast. Plus coffee, of course.

2nd meal? Probably lasagne out of the freezer.

Breakfast was greek yoghurt, lunch was cottage cheese salad and tea will be the gammon thing I made yesterday - it's really good so that's tea for the next few days sorted! I threw in a few of the french beans as well, and had it with some cauliflower. I'll definitely make it again when I see some gammon on sale.

Early starts yesterday and today. Dinner yesterday was a low carb wrap filled with a stir fry of left over chicken with some beans, a leek and mushrooms and today a cheeseburger on a LC roll with a lovely salad from the garden.
My beans are doing so well now in their pots that they have got top heavy and blew over earlier today!I
Birthday tomorrow but laid back day planned as celebrating at the weekend with youngest son, his wife and their poodle Cooper at their lovely home in Wales. Several meals out also planned for the weekend so will just do my best 're the carbs but I will also go with flow. It's only a few days.

Have a very happy birthday and enjoy your trip to Wales.

Thank you both for the friendly lovely Birthday wishes - planning an indulgent slow start tomorrow. I've harvested some tomatoes for breakfast. No jobs hopefully apart from the ever needed watering! May wander down to town later in the day for a mootch. I have had two wonderful surprise big bunches of flowers delivered today and have had to stick them for now in our ice bucket with water. I forgot that my one big vase got smashed accidentally a few months ago and hadn't replaced it! So hoping to pop into our many charity shops to see if I can find a replacement vase or two!

Greek yoghurt for breakfast, hummus with cucumber sticks and spring onions for lunch and more of the gammon thing with cauliflower for tea.

It's a refreshingly cool day here, we had a little bit of rain overnight but I still needed to water everything.
