What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Am I the only person in this whole wide world to have no clue what baby shark sounds like?

I don't feel inclined to learn either.

Lizzy - Our garden refulse collections have started again, although our first, post-hiatus is on Tuesday coming.

When it was unknown how long it would be before I adopted a system of trying (fairly successfully) to dessicate clippings and weeds. I put out a good sized tarpaulin, and spread said garden bits on there and throughout the day, turned them as one might hay.

The first lot took a while to get going as they had been sitting, breaking down, but thereafter they did well in a day.

One of the advantages is of course the wilt down to a significantly lower volume, making storage easier.

Why is that emote in all my posts. I'm simply not that funny.

Bewildered.

Edited to add, I seem to have dumped the chuckling kitty. Yay!

Yes, the music is still in my head. Mr C is practising the dance for his 'lesson' today with his granddaughter.

We are all doing our best with his granddaughter because her Mum tells us she's been upset because of the change in her routine caused by Coronavirus - she really cried when her child minder waved to her but couldn't come over and talk to her. They tell us she's become irritable and snappy and isn't sleeping properly. Poor little thing, she just isn't quite old enough to understand.

Today....

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs
Lunch: Bit of cheese - probably brie
Dinner: Linda McCartney burger and coleslaw with salad

We always used to make compost with weeds and it turned out quite well - mixed in with some grass clippings, some veg trimmings and, when possible, some comfrey liquid. My husband used to spend ages tending and turning his compost bins - the only thing he didn't like too much of was grass trimmings and never unless they were well wilted.

The old boys at the allotments told us to compost weeds but not if they are flowering or have seed heads on them. We just used to give them to the chickens, geese or turkeys - they loved them. There is a yellow weed which is poisonous though.

That's a good point - I don't think we put flowering or seeding weeds into the compost. Tom was very careful about his beloved compost.

Even the older ones are getting snappy. It's a huge change to routines.

Considering the lingering bug I don't find your BGs too bad. I thought I was better today but relapsed this afternoon. I had to have a nap but I think another hot shower is called for later. I'm much the same as you symptom wise.

Hi All,

Just a gentle reminder - could we please keep this thread for what we ate today (or yesterday) with a bit of chat, rather than derailing into full on gardening, gadgets and kiddie videos?

I know I am forever banging on about the dogs, Mr B and my garden, but I try really hard to also consistently include food diary stuff so as not to derail.

Hope you all understand - I’m not trying to shut the chat down, but there are other threads for full on chat.

Early posting g for me as we have the family zoom quiz this evening.
Trying to limit coffee intake which is rising alarmingly recently - why can’t I ever be moderate?
2 mugs black coffee for breakfast. Tea and water the rest of the morning
Lunch was tuna salad, avocado 3 cherry toms and vinaigrette.
A 30g bar Montezumas absolute black with more tea afterwards.
Dinner will be DD Asian Cabbage stir fry. Bought a massive lump of ginger root for this and half of it is now potted up having soaked yesterday. Fingers crossed for fragrant new ginger roots later this year.

Evening all.

Surf and turf combo split over 2 meals today.

Lunch was M&S Arbroath Kippers. My last as yesterday’s foray to get more was fruitless - apparently they haven’t been delivered to store in over a week. No kippers of any description in Waitrose either so perhaps a shortage?

Dinner was an aged ribeye - very small, but delicious. Added 2 fried eggs and 3 small rashers streaky bacon.

In other news I’m still using a 300ml pot of double cream bought 2 weeks ago. A world record.

Editing to add the small greek yoghurt eaten at lunch. Yeo Valley brand. Yum.

that bacon is EXACTLY how I like it... golden brown, crispy and NOT flobbolly.

Hi All
Horrible fbg today...was at the peanut butter..again!
Brekkie should have been none but had slice Hilo toast, thick butter, lots of tea then worked it off in the gatden.
Lunch was outside and small bit of cheddar, slice corned beef and 2 eggs mayoed.
Supper will be lamb chump chop pan fried with mushrooms and a tomato.
Scrabble and gin & soda at 6. I’m behind again.

@maglil55 and @Annb sorry to hear you both have had relapses. Hope that doesnt persist long. Do take care, sounds horrid.

So - I've had my meals today - even had my evening meal and it's only 6.15 - I was hungry.

Breakfast was raspberries and greek yoghurt.

Lunch was pan fried salmon fillet with cauliflower "jewelled couscous" and peas. Fish was fried in butter over a high heat to give a nice crisp skin. The couscous was jewelled with mixed peppers and garlic which I roasted yesterday, all chopped up into the cauliflower. The cauliflower was toasted in the oven first to dry it out. I'd already blitzed the cauliflower with a whole lemon. It was very good, but not really very filling. That's why I've had my evening meal already.

Evening meal was some more of the lunch, but without the peas. Trouble is, I'm still hungry so I'm not sure what this evening will bring. Maybe a bit of cheese later on - that shouldn't put the carbs up too much.
