What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I have been away and busy, aka too much fun no time to post, or even read much.
Back to reality at home. Empty fridge, late grocery delivery. I wanted yogurt.
Almost raided Mr Pipp’s Scots Porage Oats. I was cold, and needed comfort food. An itch that needed scrstching. Almost succumbed. Then I had an image in my mind of Rachox tut tutting at me, so that inspired Creativity.

For breakfast / brunch, faux porridge made with coconut flour, ground almond, flax seed, a beaten egg, and splosh of coconut milk, sprinkle of cinnamon powder, mixed up, microwaved 2 mins, chucked in a few frozen cherries and some walnut halves. It hit the spot . The strong coffee helped.

Didn’t need anything but black coffee until evening . Veg soup, with grated cheese. Followed by a medicinal tot of rum in a glass of Pepsi Max.
 
Tomorrow will be my last day, I've tried most of the foods I wanted to try (clotted cream, black pudding, a pub meal) but there's one thing left on my list:

Where does one buy pickled eggs?
I've been told I can find them in supermarkets but haven't found them so far.
 
We used to have them in fish & chip shops but, on the grounds I haven't been in one for many years ( too tempting), I don't know if they will still have them if they do, they're in large jars so you can buy just one (or 2 to check if you like them).
 
As a child, I liked eating uncooked Scots porridge oats mixed with white sugar. Just dry, no milk, nothing.
 
The pickled eggs would likely be with the other pickles.

Have you sampled clotted cream yet. Most supermarkets have it, including Lidl and Aldi.

I bet in these temperatures bought tomorrow, it’d keep OK in your car. The clotted cream has to be done.

what sort of cream do you have in the Netherlands?
 

I’ve really enjoyed reading about your visit, what lovely people your caravan neighbours were!
If you can’t find pickled eggs in a supermarket they are easy to make - peel hard boiled eggs and put in a jar. Pour vinegar over, put lid on and leave for 2-3 weeks.
 
The supermarkets do Stoke them though. ASDA & TESCO stock Pandora pickled eggs - glass jar, yellow and black label. Sainsbury's & Morrisons stock Garner's pickled eggs. Fairly plain white label with black and yellow text. They should be with the other pickles- onions, beetroot, Branston etc.
 
B- 2 fried eggs on Edam slices on SLC toast.
L- very late as I was helping at 9yo granddaughters birthday party at a trampoline park. The food was pizza, popcorn and cake. I’d forgotten to bring anything to eat. Made a smoked salmon and cream cheese SLC roll as soon as I got home. Plus a Handful of nuts as it was taking too long to make!
D- Instant pot curry made with mince and cavolo nero. Red wine.
 
Had a bad night worrying about a task today so hardly slept.
Skipped breakfast.
Task went ok and bg only got to 7 so maybe not as stressful as I thought
Had a 2 hour nap so lunch became just a handful of nuts.
Not feeling too good, think covid is taking its time.
Did manage a walk and felt better for it.
7pm dinner of burger on salad
 
Fish and chip shops sometimes have them - where they do you can buy single eggs.

Swimming, at Clacton, in October is certifiable! The only places I'd swim in October would be Cane Garden Bay, Half Moon Bay, or any other tropical location. UK in October will never, EVER be on my agenda.

(I bet you didn't even wear a wetsuit.)

Well, seeing as I definitely don't want to eat a pickled egg for breakfast, and I'll be eating out in the afternoon, I'm going to take my chances and go hunting for a large jar to bring home!
 
Clotted cream has been done! Very tasty!
Yesterday's meal with the neighbours was at 4 pm, not a usual time to eat a big meal in the Netherlands, so I had the clotted cream at around 8, spooned from the tub.
Another couple of spoonfuls sounds like a fine breakfast to me, so more will be had shortly.

Might buy another tub to bring home too, seeing as I'll be in a supermarket anyway later today for the pickled eggs.

We have a thin cream (30 - 35% fat I believe) which can be used for cooking or for whipping. And we have sour cream and crème fraiche.

Being on a beach at the see means you can either brave it and get it over with, or feel stupid afterwards because you didn't dare.

Besides, I'm not a big fan of the hassle of camping showers and it was either this or taking that much needed shower.

Nope, no wetsuit.
But it wasn't really swimming either. Put my head under twice, and kicked feet and flapped arms about 5 times before quickly getting out again!

Sorry for the many separate posts, some of them not being even vaguely on topic.
Doing the multiple reply thing in one post is complicated on phone.
Once back home I'll go back to my usual only mildly derailing posting style on this thread!
