What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Had my bacon and eggs fairly late on yesterday. Em came for a visit while her parents tried to catch up with laundry work and delivery. They were delayed because, when they were about to pack the car for deliveries, they found that one of the cats had sneaked in and was sleeping in one of the bags ready for delivery. They had to start all over with that wash and that took an hour or so extra before they could get away on the delivery round. That meant that Em was still here until quite late, so, when we realised how late they were going to be, Em asked if she could have some bacon and egg. We both had it. Went through quite a lot of bacon yesterday.

Innards coped but still felt a bit uncertain. A short time ago I had 3 very small, soft boiled eggs with a slice of RyVita. Tum rumbling at the moment in what feels like some kind of protest. We'll see.

Later is a bit doubtful. I think I have some salmon in the freezer. that shouldn't do too much damage. No veg! Definitely!

I have enjoyed catching up with the adventures of @Antje77 and the voyage of discovering new foods! Anyway back to Friday. Woke up feeling a bit wonky but had my slice LC toast and tea. Didnt know what to do about lunch, if I skip it altogether I am likely to get into a lot of trouble snacking later. Had 2 Higgidy fritata bites with a cup of tea. Had planned Moules Mariniere after getting some lovely fresh ones from the fishman and didnt want to disappoint Mr PM but actually turned out I enjoyed them. Only thing was my FBG was really high yesterday morning so maybe some lurgy was loitering without permission. Yesterday same breakfast and lunch still a bit wonky and had 4 Tandoori King Prawns and cauli bhajee in the evening and have had complaining innards (as @Annb would say since. High FBG again but had my flu jab yesterday so who knows! So far today tea and toast slice twice and will have to see about planned beef stirfry later.

@Antje77 I’m with you on sea swimming. I go all year round, it’s SO invigorating.
Went to the beach this morning, not swimming but a big charity dog walk. There were around 70-80 other Schnauzers for Dennis to play with. All barking mad and great fun.
Had a bag of local fresh made pork crackling instead of breakfast. Lots of coffee.
Lunch/dinner ( did we decide this is Linner?) -slow roast pork shoulder, roast celeriac and cauli cheese. Wine.
Granddaughters decided to combine main meal and pudding by putting blueberries in their Yorkshire puddings, might have been acceptable if they didn’t then add gravy.

I'm going to shamelessly advertise for Keto Bite UK in Frinton on Sea!
(Sorry, I don't think they have a website but they do have a Facebook page.)

If you're ever even remotely in the area, make the detour!
I had beer and pizza this afternoon at 2 or so, and I had my last insulin at 8 am.

Screenshot_20221009-161148.jpg

The cook (also owner?) Was very enthousiastic about what he's doing. It wasn't busy when I was there so we talked quite a lot.

There was another couple who were just leaving when I came in. They hadn't been able to finish their meal because it was too much, but the cook told them to not worry about ordering one dish for the two of them next time, and he would be happy to serve as separate meals!
Happy to share his recipes too!

Besides savoury dishes, they sell a lot of different very beautiful cakes too. :)

I bought a piece of foccacia and a pecan blondie to have on the ferry tomorrow, and he added a couple of slices of the bread he made today as well.

And if you're there, it's a very short walk to the beach too!20221009_140527.jpg

Sounds and looks fantastic. That was a great end to your holiday too.

Being on a beach at the see means you can either brave it and get it over with, or feel stupid afterwards because you didn't dare. :hilarious:

Besides, I'm not a big fan of the hassle of camping showers and it was either this or taking that much needed shower.
My DIL is in a wild swimming group. They are currently on their dip-a-day for October raising funds for charity. They are in for 20 mins each day (@andbreath - yes, they do wear wetsuits and wetsuit boots. It's a lot colder here than in the South).. The only thing that keeps them out is when the jellyfish come inland a bit! Not an issue at this time of year.

Sunday 9 October bed 7 FBG 6.8! I though I was in for a hat trick but this was better. By afternoon I was down at 5.2. Seems I just had to be strict with myself.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ham and coleslaw.

L. Much later 13g of Lidl's vegetable crisps

D. Campari and soda. M&S chicken shawarma with a garlic/yoghurt dressing. This is really good if you like hot, spicy things. My mouth is still tingling. It says it is to feed 6 - no way! 4 maybe but not 6. Had it with asparagus, sprouts and 1/2 a roastie. I didn't finish it as it was just too much. Very good though.

@MrsA2 - hope you can kick Covid soon. My Grandson told me after his Covid booster yesterday that we'd be absolutely fine for our booster tomorrow.

@Antje77 - glad you got your pickled eggs. Now I just Hope you like them. Your travels have been very entertaining.

@Annb - I never liked fish & chips pre diabetes but post diagnosis I craved it! It's weird how you can long for some things you never liked once you can't have them. I may make my LC version later this week.
@DJC3 - I am full of admiration for you assisting at 9 year olds party. I still have nightmares about one of younger grandson's parties. That was a case for a darkened room and a large gin afterwards!20221009_190042.jpg

Came down to the south coast for my last visit to my late parents’ home, before the house is sold. House clearance company coming tomorrow :(
Anyway food wise I bought breakfast stuff and some snacks but completely forgot anything for dinner tonight :banghead:
So I had my usual b’fast at home, stopped at a friend‘s for coffee on the way, then headed straight to a new M&S Simply Food shop, found a suitable salad (I added the nuts!) so had that followed by SF jelly
and cream.

Thank goodness for M&S when travelling they’ve saved the day for me a few times.

Swimming, at Clacton, in October is certifiable! The only places I'd swim in October would be Cane Garden Bay, Half Moon Bay, or any other tropical location. UK in October will never, EVER be on my agenda.

(I bet you didn't even wear a wetsuit.)
Probably didn’t wear a swimsuit.
what about birthday suit?

Glad your BGs behaving itself now.
I love spicy food, but I haven’t seen the M&S shawarma, can you post a photo so I know what to look for please? I’ve made Urvati Pitre’s IP version a few times and really like it, but sometimes even an IP recipe is too much faff.
Re the party: every year I say never again lol. There may well have been a stiff drink afterwards, I think the thought of it was all that kept me going!

And now that I have also derailed the thread, setting a dreadful example (just like other mods and former mods):bag: I am going to remind everyone of the thread topic!
It is :
What have you eaten today?
In the low carb diet subforum.
Not going to edit or move posts, but there is a thread for chatting.

Now I can tell of my food intake today:
brunch: egg, bacon, mushrooms , coffee.

Dinner: chicken and mushroom casserole, cauliflower mash, broccoli, carrot. Just drank water rest of day.

11:30 restaurant omelette with chorizo , avocado and other stuff. Couldn't finish it all
19:30 bbq pork ribs with beans and rice ! (Relative cooked for me, said they were doing lamb shanks then changed it :banghead: ) glass red.
Bg had gone down to 4.5 before dinner. Then up to 8.5 but going down again quite quickly. Which is a surprise for my first bbq sauce, rice and beans in over 2 years
