What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

B: kipper and scram egg
L: a mexican salad thing which was weird and higher carb than I would like, but I seem to have survived. Lots of avocado and salsa and cheese and greenery, but very sweet too. Not a repeater, which will be easy, because I didn't make it!
D: will be Dietdoctor stuffed peppers, with berries and cream to follow.

Lovely meal. I think you've forgotten to send my invitation.......
You'd get a safe meal anyway
I've often thought there is a gap in the market for low carb restaurants but having spent my early school/college years working in restaurants (that's where I learnt to cook) I know what a tough life it is and my knackered legs would never take it. Wonder how a low carb cook would do on Masterchef?
My forte was desserts and it has been a challenge adapting desserts and getting the carbaholics to eat them but they are slowly coming around.

Hello

B- blueberries, and raspberries with Greek yogurt
L- 1/2 protein roll and pare

Tonight's dinner is roast lamb, roast celeriac with kale, broccoli and gravy. Pud is no sugar jelly made with double cream, blueberries and raspberries whipped together into a mousse like consistency.. All with a glass of red wine.

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs, 20g cheese

Lunch - Nando's. 5 plain wings with salad

Dinner - tuna mayo with rocket and baby plum tomatoes; sugar free jelly with cream

Thank you - shall have a go at those if work ever quietens down

Does anyone here still eat pasta or rice? I know I am going on low carb, but not sure if I could live without these.

People can tolerate different amounts of carbs. Personally , I can't tolerate rice or pasta as it sends my BG sky high (As it does for s lot of us). Only way to find out is to test before and after eating a food to find out what effect it has.
There are substitutes which are much lower in carbs. For rice I find the best substitute is cauliflower rice. Very easy to make or widely available ready prepared in supermarkets now. Very versatile and great with curries. Pasta ? I use spiralised courgette or butternut squash again readily available but I make my own. There are brilliant web sites out there for low carb recipes. Just Google low carb and you'll see. One of my favourites is DietDoctor.com - their 2 week low carb challenge is great for getting you into the low carb way of eating. I eat better now than I ever did. This forum is ìncredibly helpful but testing constantly for the effects of food is all important. If You'd asked me 8 months ago could I live on less than 20g carbs daily I would have said no way! Now I don't give it a thought.
It requires work but you get used to it.
