I have got my carbs down a fair bit by losing some foods and substituting others but am stopped by going further because I cant give up coffee. I effectively drink latte 3 times a day.

I have tried soya milk but it makes the coffee taste terrible. Oat milk is out so I have settled on 1/3 mug of espresso, and 1/3 mug of almond milk and 1/3 mug of whole fat milk which is around 6 carbs a time and I have 3 mugs a day. (And yes I have cut this down from 5 or 6 a day) So thats more than 18 carbs a day which is a big waste of carbs.

So I am wondering if anyone has any better solutions that they use. I find the thin milks like almond milk make the coffee too bitter (can be managed with stevia I suppose) but also too acidic to be enjoyable. I am wondering about cream and something or coffee creamers (never tried one). Any suggestions. At the moment, I drink water all day and only ever drink coffee as an alternative. Not a tea drinker either mainly because it feels acidic as an after taste so not specifically about the taste of tea. I dont know whether some kind of chai version might be ok.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Cream is an excellent substitute. Fewer carbs, you don't need a lot of it, and it tastes like a party in your mouth. Creamer, not if you want to feel a semblance of joy. :)

Hi, I have similar issues. None of the fake milks or creamers are any use for me.

I use a mocha pot. My solution is (when at home) to have coffee either as it comes or with cream (single or double is zero carb) and a bit of hot water. Morning coffees tend to be with cream, later in the day just the espresso.

When out I normally order espresso or macchiato. The carb in the milk foam doesn't register.

Cream in Espresso for me too. I often have a coffee with cream instead of a snack.

Interesting, I will definitely give butter a try, that's a new one to me.

Tried coffee this morning with almond milk, 1/5th cup cream and a stevia tab to take the bitterness away (the lactose in milk is quite sugary) and I could definitely cope with that. I had tried cream before but not as much and without the stevia so that takes my coffee down to I think about 1C for the almond milk so definitely solved my excess carb problem. When you start thinking about having to get rid of coffee that's definitely on or beyond the edge of liveability! Thank you all!

I like double cream (heavy cream) but poured slowly so it rests on top of the coffee. So you drink the hot tasty coffee through the cold sweet cream yum yum and more yum.

I do limit myself to one a day though else the weight piles on

Is it a waste of carbs if you like it and it stops you eating something else? How does it affect your bloods?
