Hi,

If we will miss the night insulin injection, what to do ? Yesterday i missed my night insulin injection, then at morning i checked my glucose level was in range but little bit higher(i.e 130) as usual. Again after coming from office i checked it was range i.e(120).

But today i didn't take insulin injection. Currently i am taking only 2 units lantus insulin @10 pm in night.

You're only taking 2 units of Lantus? How much fast acting do you generally take a day?

with levels of basal like that your nearly don;t need any anyway....so the scenario you have described isn't a suprise and you could very likely get away with it again...

I don't advise not taking your nighttime injection unless you've been told not to by your doctor.

I was on a small basal dose when I was first diagnosed (2 units like you) but I never missed taking it.

If you think your insulin dose isn't right for you, speak to,your doctor or nurse and get advice.

It depends on my breakfast and morning excercise, if i will take more sweet fruit like apple then i will take 2 unit fast acting insulin. generally i will take citrus fruits. If my breakfast is light and low carb then i donot take insulin. But if will escape my morning exercise then i have to take morning insulin.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will never take any action without my doctor advice. My main goal is to keep my glucose level in normal range.

If we will miss the night insulin injection,

I once asked my DSN this question, their advice was to take half the dose the following morning, so in your position it would be 1 unit.

It's a good question to ask your own diabetes team to get their opinion on what you should do.
