What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sensible precautions and it sounds like you have lots of things to keep your mental health in good shape. Looking forward to your next update.

The brown paper and goose fat comes off in time for Shrove Tuesday - would’t want ash mixing with goose fat - yuk!
Have been investigating the idea, taken from certain tribes in very cold climates, of sewing ourselves into Yak or Seal skin trousers for a few weeks and panic buying nose pegs.

Good morning all. fbs of 8.9 today. So far the luncheon club where we do our voluntary work has had to close for the foreseeable future, yesterday's appointment for my relaxation therapy at the local hospice was cancelled, my blood pressure check for this afternoon has just been cancelled and forms for blood tests at a local clinic are to be posted instead of collected in person. Visits to mum's nursing home have been restricted. We have been asked to ring ahead before each visit to check if they have gone into lock down and when we do visit we are required to wash our hands in a designated area before entering the main part of the building. I have of course been ringing every day to check if mum is OK. We had booked a couple of events, one locally which has just been cancelled and 4 tickets to an Eisteddfod concert in July which we expect to be called off as it involves people from all over the world and a great deal of preparations. Hubby has been looking forward to a trip on the Flying Scotsman on May 8th but still waiting to see how things progress before booking. During this morning's cancellation phone call from the GP surgery I checked that I am in the at risk group and was told "yes" and advised to avoid crowded places. My cousin in the USA has serious heart and lung conditions so cannot have visits from any of his family. The list goes on and it's early days yet. We had prepared ourselves to isolate for a week or two in case we got the virus but the thought of self-isolating for as long as 12 weeks is mind boggling! How have you all been affected so far? Stay safe and well everyone. Best wishes.

Stay safe and well everyone. Best wishes.
And you dogslife it's going to be hard and it seems like it may be the new normal for an extended period...but there is lots of local support here...I'll help where I can & have emailed work for confirmation about their plans...keep safe.

@gennepher hope your trip to Iceland has been successful.
Have a good day everyone, Inknow you lot will be kind and dont take any chances.
Stay well, stay safe.
Iceland was very successful thank you @PenguinMum
Apparently at selected Iceland stores every Wednesday for the foreseeable future will be open for just elderly and disabled between 9 and 11 am.
However, for me from a personal point of view there was absolutely no social distancing, and groups of pensioners hogged the aisle while they had their close contact chatting sessions. But it was very friendly.

Take care.

I was devastated OBB no blasted crumpets and I was so looking forward to being virtuous...they were going in the freezer for emergency use...honest
S*d it. Forget emergency use...
You need a special treat every day/few days..
Reorder crumpets with loads extra ones...

Thanks @SlimLizzy

Now, I have an incy wincy bit of good news!!!
I took all my old lottery tickets to get them checked. I just never get round to it.
The lad at the till said no winner, no winner, no winner...
Then at the last ticket, his face was in shock, and he whispers "You've won £93". So I did a little jig with my emerald green walker. The manager had to come to pay me out!
The whole store was delighted. Well I don't suppose you get many batty cantankerous old ladies dancing with their walker in the middle of a Coronavirus pandemic!!

Brilliant, @gennepher! So pleased for you.

Pleased to say my thermometer has arrived...had great difficulty finding one at a reasonable price looked on the site where I used to buy my testing strips they only had ovulation kits about to move on when realised the thermometers in the kit are thermometers!... ordered one at 1 cost 0f £7.99 including 1st class post it arrived this morning...relieved to say my temperature is spot on 36.2 if anyone needs one go to Home Health UK they have stock.

Our iCeland is not one offering that service. I had to pick a parcel up from Post Office today and popped into Tesco just to get some shampoo, not that I have much hair a rub with a wet flannel would suffice, it was stripped bare even no shampoo, grabbed a couple of bottles of wine instead, shan't waste those on my hair. However I agree with you @gennepher it was full of OAPs walking around as if in shock and I did notice very few seemed to care or perhaps not understand the need for social distancing.

Edit. Congrats on your Lottery Win, pitty we can't all socialise we could have met at yours for a celebratory drink, your paying obviously.

I don't know if it was Little Big Man or Dances With Wolves where I first heard this. It seems to be a white version of an American Indian battle cry, attributed to Crazy Horse, et al.
Or it may be Klingon.

An absolute tragedy yesterday...my shopping arrived minus the crumpets.

I imagine two delivery drivers ran into each other (hopefully their vans did not!) on their routes, and spent 45 minutes or so swapping packages back and forth, with the result that your crumpets ended up in a van bound for @OldButBold 's house -- or it would have been, but the ruckus drew nearby dogwalkers to within 20 feet of the scene and while they were standing around trying to figure out what action to take other than breathing on each other or the two delivery drivers, one of their dogs broke free of his lead, charged right into the fray, grabbed the crumpets and made off with them to the nearest pub. Where -- since dogs are not confirmed carriers of the coronavirus as of last report -- everyone in the pub proceeded to help themselves to the crumpets.
Of course they doused them with gin first to kill the germs and doggy breath.

Congratulations on the lottery win @gennepher a well deserved piece of good fortune after some trying escapades of late.

Hugs for the sniffles. Hopefully they are "just" allergies.

From family relatives in Italy - sorry about the rude word but the sentiment is spot on

"third day of italian quarantine: everything is closed, everyone is at home and so... WILD BOARS ARE IN MY TOWN WITH THEIR BABIES!!!! i’m laughing so hard! Clear water in Venice’s canals.Dolphins near Sardinian harbours.Ducks in Rome’s fountains.
NATURE CAN HEAL HERSELF IF WE GIVE HER A F******
CHANCE!"

I'm glad to hear it went well. I know that is a load off your mind.
