Going to supermarket this morning. Trying out the slightly longer back roads route.
After my scare last trip am observing all safetly precautions and it's taken ages to get ready.
Will be utilising the mask delivered personally by the local Mayor on her bike yesterday. Cannot imagine that happening in UK.
Feeling a bit nervous, finding it difficult to actually go. Keep wanting to tidy one more thing
Should be back by lunchtime.
Here's a phrase that doesn't appear too often in the daily briefings. Classic Dom seems to have banned it. Cynical as I am, surely that can't be their policy? Male chicken up or conspiracy theory of events? These guys (Govt) well suited to running campaigns which don't carry responsibility and everyone accepts lies/exaggeration but totally unsuited to governing. "Men in grey suits" need to have a quiet word and sharpish.

This group are led and set up to permanently campaign by making promises people want to believe but are totally unrealistic.They know this and expect the majority of the public also know this. The result is they are fundamentally unsuited to govern and can't deliver. A smarter/more self-aware/ possessed of a conscience man at the top would cite illness and a young family, shuffle off to the Lords as a hero who won 2 campaigns (albeit against truly terrible opponents both times) before his and his party's reputation were forever destroyed as the architects of this cluster whatsit. And if we take it just academically, it exposes the incompetence of the entire govt response.
Consider, the tone is now still dictated by the death rate..
While we can explain more testing raises the
rates of infected, the deaths are still too high.
And that is why they are now belatedly hung on a hook of their own making.
Had they actually had a plan and prepared in January, the care home scandal would be well handled, and the unlock more akin to Germanies and others
Because they botched the preparation part, they have now fallen to that old adage, "fail to prepare, prepare to fail."
They once again have not fully thought through all possible scenarios, and have again lost control of yet another segment of the route back to safety .
Until the R0 is stable below 1 AND deaths are below 2/300 a day, the releasing of the lockdown, carries major risks... And NOT relaxing the lockdown carries grave risks too.
Hoist on a hook of their own incompetence.
Would almost be a joy to watch them twist, squirm and try to spin their way out if it, if it wasn't all so personal and tragic to millions.

Including giving the pandemic a false name in that case.Well you know just about everything that has happened and is happening now with this pandemic happened 100 years or so ago with the Spanish Flu pandemic there is nothing new under the sun it seems.
When you don't learn from the mistakes of history you are doomed to repeat them.

Not sure about my daily painting, again trying to capture that Last Light of the day. We live close to a working forest mainly pine trees and the Last Light glows and softens the trunks and branches, it started like that but I could not resist working on the trees which I feel have now become too defined, ha well pleanty of time to try again. A4 watercolour about 2 hours, because I overworked it...

4.3 this morning
well I've done very little today, it's bounced down with rain all day so we haven't been out for a walk even
I decided to sort out and swap over some winter and summer wardrobe items, found a few items to go for recycling and a few for the charity shop (if we ever get the all clear to go back there).

@gennepher - very strong pastels again, very effective use of colour and light
@Muddy Cyclist - I'm liking the undergrowth and the light through the trees, I do like the trees too but can perhaps see what you mean about the 'overworked', the foliage is strong and distracts a little from the lovely soft focus of light through the trees and on the path.
Having said that I wish I could get anywhere close to that level
