What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I have seen similar in gymnasiums and some people will pay good money to get the information that your purchase comes up with and if it acts as a good guide for you then that can only be good.
I was sorely tempted but I guess that I will just have to make do with the one with the spring in it and the encouraging words from Mrs Miggins. I think that I would explode with all that information and end up back on CBT.
If you find that you are weighing yourself several times a day then its a problem - mind you it could be the focal point for polite conversation around the dinner table when entertaining guests if you place it in the dining room.

I like that Bangles number, thanks.

I like the way that you tackled the problem of having your cake and also eating it - I dump the icing also.
Have a wonderful birthday week - mine was last week.

@trick60 ..i can see the worry about the fall and no grazes.
i suppose a simple black out or fainting would have the same effect, sadly.
But deffo one to store away in case it happens again...Love to wife, hope recovery time is short.

@gennepher , echoing many others best of luck with eye check.
@DJC3 ..enjoy the holiday..and it sounds like your off to a cracking start...LoL

@dunelm ..i too enjoyed the read of the holiday with the Rug Rats....
marvellous stuff...can't wait for the movie to come up.
Got The Rock playing you, but who plays the misses...???

And @johnpol congrats on finishing a book of your own.
the print runs can be the hardest part i'm told.
Wondered if you'd considered the Kindle way ?

Read a good few that have linked books in a serial/episodes, to then make them into a real paper book.

the Martian, Wool trilogy. both started life as fan based E-Books.
( both highly recommended if anyone is into sci fi or dystopian / end of the world sagas)
to name two BIG ones..but i appreciate not everybody wants or deem it appropriate to go that route.

Nice summary of what data the scales let you see and also the temptation to use them most mornings - I also fall into that trap/habit. As you say, there is always the thought of what might have been had all of this attention to detail been part of our earlier lifestyle instead of believing we were immortal. Song choice has been no 2 son's favourite from very early childhood.

Thanks @ianpspurs

I remembered you had a set from earlier posts.

yep, i don't particularly see the daily weigh in as a bad habit for me.
it just gives the chance to monitor any increase in weight early.

Much as the scales are also like an Early Warning System.

Had I of had them earlier, would I have avoided the Tsunami of High sugars in my bloods..?

Can't say YES, for definite..but I do know I would have been MORE aware of impending danger,
NOW I know what to look for and monitor more closely.

I Cant save me, but I can potentially save my steph, and missus falling into the same trap.

and that's THE work in progress for me.

Oh dear, I think we were a bit like a badly drawn Jonny Knoxville and a slim Miriam Margolyes but I would settle for The Rock with Diane Keaton, Olivia Coleman or Tilda Swinton (she is about the same size as Mrs Miggins).

6.5 on another cloudless but slightly cooler but muggier Monday morning. I got a text on Saturday saying my glasses are ready (after specifically asking them to CALL me; how do they know I even text?). I was going to go pick them up early before the heat set in, but I overslept so they'll have to wait 'til later today.

Happy Birthday Week!

Happy birthday week. June is naturally the best month for a birthday but I will probably pass on the pampering and spray tan. I have a cousin who has her 50th on the same day as my birthday.

I am of the opinion that it is best for it to remain a work in progress all my life. When you get complacent in a fight excrement wins.

I went for the diabetic retinopathy screening earlier today. But because I'd had YAG Laser iridotomy on both my eyes a couple of weeks ago, the nurse said they were unable to use the special eye drops they use. And they would have to do the retinopathy photos without me having those eyedrops.

They have access to my records and all recent NHS procedures and treatments on their laptops.

So, I go into the room with the machine.
The guy operating the machine takes the photo of each eye. Two I think of each eye. But when he finishes he doesn't look me in the eye. So I am getting up, the light is on now.

Because I lipread I find it disturbing when someone doesn't look me in the eye, and in this situation it can mean I don't know if I have been dismissed or not. So, for some reason I say, 'Can you see where I had the laser iridotomy in each eye?'

He looks at me. 'Oh no, you didn't have that', he said, 'You only had laser treatment to widen your blocked tear ducts, so that more tears can come out.'

'No, I haven't,' I said. 'I had laser treatment for acute angle glaucoma.'

'No, the laser treatment was on your tear ducts to unblock them, so now your tears can some out,' he repeated, explaining as though to a simple patient, ushering me out of the room.

He opens the door and is looking at the ground again, and not at me. And shuts the door.

I am stunned. I have never ever had any laser treatment on my tear ducts.

I had confirmed my name and address and date of birth, for the nurse, and then again for him. I showed my appointment letter to each one. And I was their first patient of that session.

When he was looking at the ground it felt like also it might be serious, something he found in my eyes. But he cannot tell you, you have to wait for a letter.

On the way home I am panicking.

I can't work this out, and I am not going to believe any test results that come through the post.

Cheers mate.

Yes they were, as was I, but they were very thorough in there tests and I could see they were unsure as to whether she should have been kept in for observation, not that she would have being the obstinate devil that she is. Definitely not herself though.
Thanks for your concern, it seems we all have our crosses to bear at the moment.

Thanks Ian, not too much pain now, but her medication for her fibromyalgia would be enough to stun an elephant.

I picked up my re-made glasses 4 hours ago. They're still not right. If I pull them way down to the very tip of my nose I can see fairly well out of them but then they not only tickle my nose and squeeze my breathing, they pull on my ears. I don't know why, in the 21st century, it is impossible to do an eye exam, get it right, and make lenses properly. But this time I will keep the frames, and, when I have some extra money (haha) take the frames to a different opticians' and see what they can do.

Oh dear that is so annoying for you. I dont understand it either. Can you not have another return and ask them to get it right. I just hate the sloppy attitude of these kind of people. Sending hugs. X

Thank you for the hugs. I could go back but I honestly don't want to deal with these people anymore. They've gotten it wrong twice now -- two chances are enough. At least I'm not out any money.

Hugs and purrs. ^. .^
