What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all and it is certainly bright and welcoming in this part of East Anglia. @Krystyna23040 delighted to hear the gardens and tea shop were so good. @Shas3 good work on the fbg and a shortened working week must be good for the spirits. @Bildad great news on the continued 5s. @True Blue PB eh?- excellent news. @trick60 hope Mrs T's injuries from the fall are not too painful. @HarrisonK hope the green experience works well for you. @gennepher best wishes for the eye scan. @DJC3 off this forum at the double and concentrate on that holiday.
My fbg was 5.5, personally disappointed but we all have different aims and historical levels. What drove my numbers back in the day may well have been carbs and weight but there is something much less simple nowadays. Think the bludgeoning approach needs refinement. Enjoy your part in the Trump 2020 re-election extravaganza either as an extra or tax paying crowd funder.

Thanks Ian.... am quite happy with numbers below 6.0!! And that’s with some carbs and fruit thrown in. I am trying to walk more these days as my leg muscles recover from the atrophy i suffered while in a leg cast for about 2 months. The increased walking is causing some soreness in leg muscles but I think it is also part of recovery...so, pushing a bit......

Morning everyone, on this sunny Monday morning (Monday again!! Hateful day they should be banned) a 14.4 greeted me on the old meter of doom, totally unexpected. But lots of insulin and all is good...…………..who am I kidding, corrective dose and test the day away to hope it settles down! On a brighter note the book I have been working on is nearly finished and as I am self publishing I am getting the funds together to get a small run done in the next few months. The book is about one of my Bulldogs, who has sadly gone to the rainbow bridge, and all his adventures (both true and made up) anyone with a bulldog will understand what I mean. Anyway enough gossip! I'm off to make some life changing decisions (No I'm not, but it sounds good)

Take care everyone.

The bg level, Monday and, by the sounds of it, day of testing and correcting doesn't deserve a winner. The positive attitude and book deserve a winner. Stirring stuff

Morning...a whole weekend off testing...a splendid brunch yesterday...lots of gossip...laughing...amazingly woke to a 6.3...so this is officially the day the circus rolls into town...Lord help us when the 'Donald' arrives.

Morning All. 6.3 today (think its my most constant number).
Jealous of your rain @HarrisonK no wonder you have green grass...mines a mess. They promised me thundery showers yesterday but it was fake news. @DJC3 start to your hols sounds blissful..looking forward to some good seafood next week in your backyard.
@gennepher good look with the eye test, try not to worry. Have a great or the best you can Monday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who survived yesterday's nation BBQ day. We had a vegan BBQ, because vegans only eat vegetables, nuts and fruit, if you eat a vegan does it count towards your 5 a day?

A rather spritely 6.6 escaped from my meter this morning.

Well folks whatever your plans may the deity of happiness look kindly on you, if not wave two ( other too's available from all good retailers ) fingers and get on with life.
Me and the rest of me's intend to.

Hand and footnote, subject to Mrs J's approval.

Po's forcast: There will be weather all over the country with some sun, rain in places, and strong winds, and gentle breeze.
Some places may experience fog, snow, hail, and droughts will continue until it stops.
The wider longer forcasts will be same old same old just a different day.
Remember to take your brolly and factor 50.
Have a good Sunday and enjoy it while you can, time is shorter than you think!

Po

Oh BTW Debs sounds like you had a great night and 5.2 what can I say... "Top class"

Oh that weather stuff can certainly be expected; it’s all good as long as you do expect it.
The reception of unsuspected weather leaves people saying stuff like “terrible weather we are having” - blame, blame, blame - poor weather.
You are right about all that short time - even as I type, my time is being used up and with nowhere to bank it, it just seems to slip away and vanish.

Take care everyone.

Applause for getting a book written. Many try, many bits of manuscript sit in a drawer or hide in some computer memory like a half finished car restoration project.

Good morning gentle folk of the electron-verse. I have been up twice today. The gasp and realisation of the first wakening at 0530 was due to something that the liver told to the bladder, who then laughed so much that it had to run to the bathroom - dragging everyone else with it. Still, the wheel of slumbering and yawning managed to cough out a begrudging 5.5 and I ordered everyone back into bed with the pretence of jet lag even though Lands Are Grotty are in the same time zone as my bed.

Secondo- a gentle and calm waking, slippers, smoking jacket and matching hat on and down for a cup of tea. Are they still smoking jackets even if one does not smoke?

We noticed yesterday that the pear tree has found some new horticultural sect to follow while we were away and has sacrificed a goodly number of its tiny pearlets, scattering them on the ground. No amount of glue will get them to stick back on so we have carefully placed them all, huddled together, in the compost bin and sprinkled them with a bit of potash.

I binge watched the film of Terry Pratchetts book Good Omens yesterday - it’s on amazon prime - the book has been made into film, chopped into six episodes.
If you don’t know the plot - a demon and an angel who have been around since the beginning of time discover that each other’s deed’s cancel the other ones out and most of the stuff of history, such as that big knife thing in the French Revolution was all the idea of humans.
So, they decide why should both of them influence events around the world when they could flip a coin as to whose turn it is and one of them then does both jobs and they could just meet up and have nice food and drink in fancy restaurants - just as long as their respective head offices keep getting the field reports.
It all goes wrong when the demon is given the baby who will eventually become the antichrist and they then have to try and stop end of days.

Talking about end of days, must get on, there is some serious koffy drinking to do before noon. Oh, and @poemagraphic - Mrs Miggins and I have decided that we need another holiday to recover from the last one - perhaps even on our own - look! A flying pig,

5.1 this morning. Probably because I had a few glasses of wine yesterday evening, gorgeous fresh seafood to go with it though.
We arrived in Oban on the beautiful West Highland line and the sun came out - forecast was for rain all week so that was a real bonus. The only time it rained was when I went out for a walk after dinner, then the heavens opened for 20mins and it stopped the second I got back inside. Lol!
Staying in a lovely hotel overlooking the harbour. Nespresso coffee machine in our room and L’Occitane toiletries. Wonderful.
Today we are catching the ferry over to Mull - looking forward to that.
@dunelm glad you got back safely, I loved the tale of Little Miss Pamplemousse and the egg on legs. Going anywhere in public with small children is a delight and mortifyingly embarrassing in equal measures I find.
@trick60 hope the Mrs is improving - were the docs concerned about lack of grazing on her hands?
@Debandez a party in your garage? That sounds brilliant! Did you just get home and find all the neighbours in it?
What a wonderful description of the start to your jolies @DJC3 . Have an amazing time. Enjoy the wine. You are on your jolies. Great reading too. I got home to find a house full! All my son's friends. Nice bunch so I didn't mind. Felt like joining the party in fact. And I did for an hour but it went on til 7am and I'm too old for that malarkey lol

@ianpspurs you ate so thoughtful. Always give a shout out to others. I take my hat off to you. Re you fbs it's a good number too but I know you like it lower. Hugs for the disappointment

Happy Monday, everyone..:D

Day off, but lots to do.:wideyed:

@PenguinMum , good to hear your injections went well, and it seems to have settled down for you.
hoping result is as good as possible and more are limited or even unnecessary.

My bloods today 6.5...(mmhh..a late night snack of one ot two, pistachio nuts, was never going to go well..WHO can eat just one or two :bigtears: )..i don't suppose the two cans of guiness helped, either.
But it is what it is..and the average BG is still looking good on mysugr app.

Slight update on the smart scales.
Been my daily ritual since buying, kettle on, bloods done, off to bathroom, one button suit weigh in,
clothes back on, back to kitchen, pour water, make tea..sip and dissect data..

So with that in mind, in case anyone else was curious.
scales were £20+ amazon.
Link to phone (moto g5 easily..can log others as well. or each can download app and run off their own phone )

So ...what tales does it tell...:bag:

Hows it work...It shoots a non lethal (so far;)) bolt of electricity up your feet.

ok, it is only the tiniest of electrical charges, but totally innocuous and you don't feel even the merest tingle.

Now while i can't vouch for the veracity and accuracy, just as with my codefree meter, i'm not sure i need NASA type pin point accuracy, but it is nice to have an overview of what i can't really see,
And all displayed in a nice digital form for me to assess, if i'm heading in the right direction or i need to take steps to improve some markers.

and if it's not totally accurate to the minutest percentage point, i do feel it will be out the same amount each time and therefore set a trend i can see and follow...just like the codefree mete does for me.

Early days yet...but promising results so far.
start date 22 may to friday 31 may ..(away the weekend, cat sitting)
OUT of Range: OVER
weight UP 1 lbs..:woot:..186 - 187..( leisurely lunches and experimenting with a few low carb ice creams..:brb:
Body fat UP 1.4.....27.3 - 28.7..related to point one above.
BMI UP 0.1....25.5 - 25.6..see above

OUT of Range: UNDER
Bone Mass 6.5 constant (expected i suppose, a long term game there for definite)
Bodywater UP 0.1.....49.9 - 50.9..(concious effort after first reading to take on more water daily..so that worked :D )
BMR: UP 5... 1522 - 1527..is in right direction, but less jogging/running and little gym..(ok none :arghh: ) might explain that

IN ZONE
Muscle mass.DOWN 2....129 - 127..the top end of zone..BUT in da zone.:D ( see poor excuse above, perhaps :sorry:)

and the one i want to keep an eye on
Visceral Fat: 14 and steady all week. Again top end of zone, and only just in Zone, so work to be done ..
(as expected, i suppose..but i'd love to have seen what this score was 9 months ago )

As with the BG meter, it doesn't cure me, AND it's not a the answer to all my prayers,
BUT is i think a useful guide, IF the thought of checking doesn't make you paranoid or anxious..
.( as per the checking bloods i'd say, see it in a sensible light and it's just a useful guide, allowing you to rectify with early actions, diet, water intake or exercise )
wish i'd had one years ago.

Have yourselves a merry little Monday all..:)

Your holiday sounds like a wonderful treat, the Western Highlands are magnificent. We have wanted to travel on the West Highland Line for a while - do keep us up to date with your trip.

5.5 today. Not bad considering I had CHOCOLATE CAKE at my dear old friends 90th birthday dinner yesterday. The birthday cake was the dessert. I was sitting next to her and didn't want to disappoint (my excuse!!!) I didn't eat it all and left all the icing (hate the stuff) and just mushroom starter and steak and veg dinner so not too shabby a fbs number all considered. Maybe brought down by the red wine who knows but it was lovely while it lasted (the cake!).

Nice day weather wise here and I'm keeping everything crossed for my rendering to be done. Plasterer keeps getting rained off!

It's my birthday week so off for a bit of pampering. Hair today. Spray tan later in the week (cousin's 50th birthday bash too). Big shop day today too. Fridge and freezer empty so it could take some time!

Happy Monday all.
