What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you @HarryBeau @gennepher and @ianpspurs for you comments on my poppies and art. I didn't win the family challenge, youngest grandaughter did and not out of kindness but on content, kids got talent and not yet 5.

@ianpspurs interesting figures and I'm sure I'm probably lacking something. I am one of those procrastinators as my signature tells, it's not a joke I really am and always have been. :joyful: It gets complicated also as I want 200 years of life. I feel I have only just figured out what life is all about and here I am with an unknown and less than what I have already lived number of years left on this amazing planet. With the desire for so many years of life I should take greater care of myself and probably be aware what supplements I should take but I never get around to it, so I base my Health and mental wellbeing on how I feel, if I ache or feel down I resort to exercise, creativity or rest. I obviously have not been successful as here I am Type 2 Diabetic, arthritic and Fibromyalgia. I have in the past tried using supplements for some of these problems but even over a long period of time found no improvement and always find myself turning to exercise, my doctor uses the well known phrase, 'use it or loose it' it works for me on a daily bases, long term who knows? So I figure my philosophy is deal with the problem when it happens rather than try and prevent, not suggesting for one moment this is the correct thing, I actually admire your and others proactive appraoach, it's just my procrastinating way of dealing with it and probably the easy option which I'm always prone to take.:)
Out of interest the Latin in my signature was my school moto which I have always thought mocked my way of living, I'm the grasshopper not the ant but it's a fond reminder I need to do better with the use of time, which is running out. :banghead:

For the sands of time...?

I agree.

Most days

Fbg 6.1

Temp 36.2

Got up at 2:30. Slept okay but hot. So thought I would tend to my window ledge kitchen gardens indoors. Sorted out broad beans, tomato plants and garlic this morning. More to do tomorrow.

Back in bed with a coffee 3:55am and watching the dawn which isn’t doing much this morning, just grey skies, but still no rain or thunderstorms. Maybe today.

An email to write now, and maybe I will have a nap and start the day again.

Take care.

Look after yourselves.

Good Morning and 5.5 for me on this new day.

Much cooler and rain in this neck of the woods. Other than another recording to make for my part towards an online choral and instrumental piece I have been sent there are no plans for my day just going to bumble along and see where it goes.

Have the best day you are able and enjoy as much as you can, take care.

Good morning everyone from a very quiet, overcast and slightly tepid start in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of eggs benedict flew in a 4.9 this am

Dead heading yesterday, mainly the climbing roses, of which there are many. I like to give them names, SNP get first go (splitters), then DUP, cabinet members, opposition front benchers and then a selection to effect a hung parliament the favour of which may well be random. Rebecca Long-Bailey was left for now, another one of those blow hards who string together a whole bunch of buzz words and sound bites the sum of which is just smoke and mirrors, and then drops a grenade in twitter.

Baking yesterday, English muffins, hence the eggs benedict. I used fibreflour and the results were pretty good. Must use a cutter next time. Recipe here for anyone to emulate: https://www.copymethat.com/r/NmJSgT3/english-muffins/

Evidently Black seed oil enhances insulin response, has anybody tried it? “Black seed oil — also known as N. sativa oil and black cumin oil. The oil is extracted from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, also called kalonji.”

Wonderful poppies @Muddy Cyclist

Have a wonderful Saturday. Koffy,

7.15am FBG 6.1.
Feeling distinct lack of control in most areas .
Some days massive attacks of munchies.
Weight is slowly creeping up. Overeating helps there, but BG is generally higher than normal and am starting to get urgency again.
Garden, couple of weeks warm, wet weather and everything is growing like mad. Lots of aphids and no such thing as pest sprays in the shops.
Will soon be eating courgette three times a day. With potatoes, by the look of it. And a few cherry toms.

Grass, sorted the mini tractor and spent far too many hours cutting a bit less than half of it yesterday. Because the tractor cut is higher, needs doing more frequently as well, so consuming huge chunks of time. Very very boring. There are also many places the tractor won't fit, or is too unwieldy to manoeuvre around. So resulting cut is patchy. With lots of areas missed, better than nothing, but not much.
All the mud swept onto the drive and deposited around the garden is producing a bumper crop of bindweed. Just when I had nearly eradicated it, now it's worse than ever and in places previously bindweed free.
The hedge needs a trim. Altogether am fighting a losing battle to keep the place and myself in good order.

Edited to add: will be at least a month before MrSlim gets here.

@dunelm thank you for Poppy Painting appreciation.
Dead heading yesterday
A lot of my day yesterday was spent Hacking not dead heading, my way through a jungle of rambling roses, Holly, Orange Blossom, Brambles all of which was held together by rampant Honeysuckle. I had returned from a Muddy Bike ride to find my even more elderly neighbour trying to take control of his Hedge between our two properties. I foolishly offered to help from my side, two hours up ladders and trips to the local garden refuge tip. Neighbour enjoyed sitting drinking coffee and directing from his side of the fence, felt like I was in one of those Indiana Jones films, mind you we put the world to rights whilst doing it.

@SlimLizzy after yesterday's Hedge ordeal I empathise with your land management, take care.

Welcome to Saturday where I am enjoined to commemorate Cyril, Bishop of Alexandria (done). My fbg was 4.4 @ 6.20, a late, late show for me. Super Salmon Salad (with avo and supplements) Friday and 22k steps to blame for that. Actual levels may be in doubt but the process fits all known data and gives me a warm glow in the confirmation bias region. @dunelm excellent baking and I have nigella seeds having read somewhere of their benefits. I really must add some to food - salad topping springs to mind. Love the roses story even though I detest the things. Hug for the feeling of lost control @SlimLizzy but pretty stressful times for you. @Muddy Cyclist I would say you are immensely proactive and effective just doing things the way that works for you. I believe I may have mentioned N=1 before:angelic: As for the live to 200 part, I have to say I know how this movie ends and being chock-full of serious imperfections personally I understand the need for the free, undeserved and loving remake. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians 2:8-9&version=KJV YMMV.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all worship the rain deity, other deities available from all shopping malls, but be quick they are going bankrupt rapidly.

Yet another 5.8 on the meter of up to no good.

Today is a day of full supervision when Mrs J arises from her pit / lair.
The BBC'S work of science fiction and fantasy known to all the weather forecast predicts today would a good day to nip down to the beach, social distancing might be a problem.
Whoops better sign orf I hear the rustling of wings, and soon I shall probably hear those words " Make my tea ".

Painting for today.
Using ZenBrush2 app (one of those suggested by @dunelm )

This first painting with ZenBrush2 app is NOT mine. Popeye decided to have a go. So this first one is Popeye's attempt. I repeat, this is Popeye drawing on my iPad screen.

This second painting within ZenBrush2 is my first attempt with this app. This was not easy to do with cat Popeye hanging on to my drawing arm, his eyes glued to the iPad screen. But it is my best effort. Next time I will make sure Popeye is asleep elsewhere. I will try and do better next time...
I cannot use an Apple pen to draw with, my hands won't hold it, so this drawing of bird and bamboo is done freehand with my fingers and thumb on the iPad screen.

Call it overreach but lockdown has made me think what happens next? Bernard Miles has been a continuing earworm https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0459254/ and this resonated with my left of centre bias Dawn patrol
This morning I read this piece and sadly plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose is playing on loop. https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2020/jun/26/normal-pandemic-crisis-normality. A big, big day coming up on November 3rd. Rise and shine Sleepy Joe, pick your VEEP wisely. Stick a fork in the last 50 years, we're done. Thought for the day over and out.

And lets pray that the return to normal IS a wake up call, that we can all be better then we were.

without seeming rude, Genn

i think you may have a prodigy on your hands there with Popeye..
like the japanese-y quality of that.

the big Suzuki motorcycle is called a hyabusa, fastest road bike in the world
i have always admired the Japanese writing style, a language i have tried and abjectly failed to even make the most minimal of dents in personally

so popeyes attempt did bring this bit of trivia to mind.
Who says the Japanese don't have a sense of humour...:D

Hayabusa (隼) is Japanese for "peregrine falcon", a bird that often serves as a metaphor for speed due to its vertical hunting dive, or stoop, speed of 290 to 325 km/h (180 to 202 mph), the fastest of any bird.[

In particular, the choice of name was made because the peregrine falcon preys on blackbirds,
which reflected the intent of the original Hayabusa to unseat the Honda CBR1100XX
Named by Honda as the Super Blackbird the world's fastest production motorcycle.

Eventually, the Hayabusa managed to surpass the Super Blackbird by at least a full 16 km/h (10 mph)

I really question whose normal we were/are being told to live but glad the links were useful.

I have told Popeye that I am going to borrow his paw pad in the morning....
His painting did have a Japanese-y quality about it...How did he do that?

I have more success writing Chinese than Japanese. I cannot read or speak Chinese, but I can manage to write an address in Chinese. The last Postcrossing postcard I sent, the girl asked if her address could be written in Chinese, because it would then get to her much more quickly, and before she went back to University. One hour later, slow as the tortoise, I had got her address on the postcard done in Chinese.

Today I got an online message from her, saying she was highly delighted I had taken the time to write her address in Chinese, and that my written Chinese was very good (!), and that the postcard had arrived before she went back to University, or else she would have had to walk a long way to collect her postcard from her parents place. The postcard had got to a remote village in China in record time.

So me is a happy bunny this morning.
