Thank you. The Heather did go darker than I wanted. I know some more dramatic Heather covered slopes but in The Peak District may take a run out and see if I can apture them Sunday.Beautiful! We have had stormy skies then sun all day. Very dramatic.
A gorgeous patchwork landscape @Muddy Cyclist
This looks a brilliant day out @dunelmGood morning everyone from a blind tasting of the three bears’ porridge sort of start in the dark and dangerous north.
The wonder wheel of “now go and sit on the naughty step” came in at 6.2 this am -was it worth it - of course!
Two miniature humans yesterday; granddaughter and sister in law’s foster child while she acted as interpreter for a social services visit to her mother. She got the keys to MIL’s new apartment so there will be decorating, carpets, curtains, vans, pushing, shoving, do you know the pianos on my foot sort of activity going on for several day. I made bread and commented upon the blustery weather.
Back to good day’s out. This is Rhinog Fach, summit in the Rhinogydd region, South Snodonia. There is a lengthy route that takes about 12 hours and a pick up at the end but other, circular routes, are available. A great walk as long as it’s not raining.
Hope that everyone has a wonderful day, koffy calls all the way.

good morning all
4.5 today
Just catching up on the thread takes a while
I've got Mum's cold and a thick head together with a stonking coldsore at the moment which is cramping my style a bithaven't had a coldsore for ages.
In other news we had a nice barbeque in mum's garden yesterday dodging between the showers, chicken and heck sausages were suitably frizzled
It's been wet all morning and now it's cheering up a bit so hopefully we will manage a walk later without getting too soggy
Hope your day is treating you well
@JohnEGreen - lovely heron pictures
@gennepher - I'm so glad that your eye appointment worked out so well, all these delayed tests and appts. because of covid are extra stress inducing aren't they
I like your bird and the background textures are a nice addition. Your latest painting is a joyful, colourful thing
@SlimLizzy - glad you're feeling a bit more grounded, a great shame that your trip has been cancelled though
@dunelm - Your layering is interesting and the are some interesting 'brushes' out there. the waterfall is very effective and your blossom painting feels very 'free', I particularly like your landscape sky and foreground, it looks like a lovely area to walk in
@Alien Aspie - hugs for the breathing restriction, hope it settles for you soon. What an accomplished set of pet portraits and how well they convey their personalitiesOur pets have such an impact on our lives.
@Muddy Cyclist - that was an interesting start to the finished watercolour. It's amazing how much the feeling of a picture can change with each addition in context, the beginning felt quite reflective and the finished painting joyful. Interesting texture given by the 'paintbrush'
art bit -
using layers looks like an interesting way of working. I don't know whether I have the discipline to have all those layer and brush choices, I have enough trouble with one layer and a couple of brushes and picking one colour at a time
Could be fun though
no 1 - just some cloud studies comparing materials
the first one is done in watercolour pencils, second in inktense pencils and the third in watercolour.

no 2 -
tried adding some inktense pencil to a watercolour.

That sounds a brilliant plan @Muddy CyclistThank you. The Heather did go darker than I wanted. I know some more dramatic Heather covered slopes but in The Peak District may take a run out and see if I can apture them Sunday.
Thank you - the southern part of Snowdonia used to be a lot less trodden than the part north of Festiniog and you get a great ridge to walk along. There is of course just a wee bit south, the nice scree slopes of Cader Idris (Nice on top mind). This looks a brilliant day out @dunelm
I love the hint of colour and shrubland in the foreground.
Wonderful patchwork below a stormy sky and a stunningly vivid foreground - we have masses of purple Heather up on the North Yorkshire Moors at present - Some farmers are now cutting and bailing it rather than burning. The Heather seen today on my Muddy Cycle ride, stormy sky but the sun lifted the heathland. A4 watercolour about 1 hour with some drying time between layers.

Thank you. This is AONB area with SAC and SSSI status on it, rare Billberry crossed with Crow Berry unique to The Chase and a rare Butterfly so burning not done, however I know the rangers don't get into too much of a panic when there is a heathland fire. Some times the old ways are still the best.Wonderful patchwork below a stormy sky and a stunningly vivid foreground - we have masses of purple Heather up on the North Yorkshire Moors at present - Some farmers are now cutting and bailing it rather than burning.
That's a lot of layers to keep track of, admire your sticking power with this technology. Today's piece I found strangely disturbing a little frightening and yet it keeps drawing me back to take another look, the power of art on emotions. Good experiment and learning curve, look forward to the next adventure. My painting for today in Procreate, 13 layers...
I really like this - sort of ghostly and ethereal.Fbg 6.1
A weird shade of silver grey clouds here...
My painting for today in Procreate, 13 layers...
I really did not like layers yesterday but Alien Aspie posted a You Tube link on it. So I copied my dragon painting, and went in and had a play looking for all the settings shown in the video. Completely wrecked the dragon painting, couldn't figure out how to undo what I had done in the layers settings, so many of them for each layer, but in the process discovered how to get new effects...if I can figure out how to repeat them. I probably won't be able to, so that means each painting is a new adventure.
My painting for today...

Lots of layers and they do need naming and perhaps locking out when working on a specific layer. I tend to make a copy of something if I want to fiddle about with it. Same with brushes - make a copy, rename, experiment - then that’s the day gone!Fbg 6.1

4.7 this morning. Trousers felt suddenly looser around waist so jumped on scales again and have lost another 3/4lb in a couple of days.
Have decided to keep going with the IF and limiting to 1400 calories as I am thinking that maybe - if the inches keep going off my waist - it will help my fasting blood sugars. Only problem is that I am bordering on becoming too slender which not a good look for someone of my.advanced years.
Congratulations, this is going so well for you and should certainly help your fasting blood sugars as you have probably already burned away any fat around your liver and pancreas. Brilliant.4.7 this morning. Trousers felt suddenly looser around waist so jumped on scales again and have lost another 3/4lb in a couple of days.

Wonderfully scary, sad, spooky, frightened ghost of a girl. The eyes are so detailed.
