I can.I blame Thatcher for wet and windy days. A major part of that problem is the PPE still not moved from August and the fear of a WTO exit. That is certainly their fault.

4.3 today

flu jabs today - wait outside a side door on the lawn, then get in the socially distanced queue when your name is called, letter visually checked on entry then forward to the main waiting room to your assigned taped out square space to wait down the corridor to the room designated, letter checked again then jab given and out via the rear fire escape six people per 5 minute slot, six rooms with nurses/doctors all running on time, very well organised

@dunelm - nice landscape and the subtle colours worked well but I particularly like your bamboo, very effective, the splatter of colour adds movement

@ianpspurs - Thanks for the recipe, looks interesting, I haven't tried inulin. Sadly our local Tesco no longer stock ChocoLogic

Too easy, but I guess we have to agree to differ on this issue. No hard feelings life's too short.

No hard feelings. Grayling gets £100,000 for 7 hrs a week and that mess. We could split the money and make the same mess if you're not too busy

In a different time, state of health and location, there are a lot of people in this thread who would make for an interesting dinner party, good food, good drink, good friendship and excellent discussion and a fine contented parting of ways, you would be counted as one of them. Sadly such times may be a long time returning.
 
It is very kind of you to say so Those times will return but in a different way. History is about progress, continuity and change. . As the traditional marriage service says we each complete what is lacking in the other. Teams are built around very different types and talents and we here are a team. I doubt it would surprise anyone to hear I am not a dinner party person but it would be an honour to make an exception for you.
 
The problem with politics is that doctrine trumps reason.

Why would you spend all those billions on dido hardings organisation when that money spent locally would have brought about a far better improvement distributed throughout the uk.

Because they believe in feathering the nests of business friends and privatisation is best.
People in the health service are generally extremely well motivated and with local knowledge they would have tracked more covid.
Dido was supposed to be going use this covid lock down to improve track and trace...their impotent and useless, nothing is happening.

Dido says....we are testing more...what's the point Dido? its pathetic, your not tracing them!

@gennepher there are certain songs l will play over and over again. Sometimes just one song for the whole of my 30 minute drive to work.

That is one complete mess.

I do realise that a lot of important things are being affected by Brexit and Covid, but I have no idea of the actual things affected in many cases.

This should not have been allowed to happen.

But when crises happen, or a system that worked before (or worked reasonably well), then the finely tuned, interconnected things that developed over the years to enable it run smoothly (or reasonably well) falls apart, and it is pretty near impossible to re create again those finely tuned interconnected things that enabled it to run as efficiently as possible.

I think we are in a mess for a long time.

Things will change, they always do. They have to change. And at some point things improve and get a different kind of better. But maybe not the more comfortable better we have been used to.

We have to be a part of that change. Be active in the ways each of us individually are able to. And in this I am talking about little stuff too. There is much stuff I cannot do because of my deafness, and my disabilities, but each time I go out for my shopping I make sure I put a smile on a few people's faces. I have a conversation with the cashier (if he/she is not wearing a face mask, but has a clear shield), and my attitude when I am out shopping is a happy one, and I ask for help if I need it. I did yesterday, and this young lad in the shop was more than happy to oblige and carry stuff to the car for me. And he was glad to help. These little things have a knock on effect of good. It doesn't sound much in the scheme of things with the shipping containers Ian posted the link to, but any little thing any of us can do positively, whether it is physically in real life, or on the internet, builds up towards something good.

But we have to tighten our belts, and change our attitudes, for a long time, at least most of us on this thread are of an age where we have to live through all the current messes, possibly for the rest of our lives remaining to us.

So this is the new normal what we are all going through. I am not saying that negatively. We have to think differently, think outside the box, and not fall by the wayside. It is so easy to fall by the wayside. Pretty much all of us has negative days which Covid has affected our thinking. But we can all get through this. It wasn't the more comfortable retirement we were expecting. We have to work forward in this in positive ways.

Good Morning and 6.8 for me today. My own fault Mrs MC really fancied a Sweet and Sour last night and said she could cook it without adding sugar, I foolishly agreed. Of course Apricot Juice and some Tomato Purée was added and I did have 4 apricot halves and a spoonful of Wholegrain and wild rice. So before meal 5.2 two hours later 7.9 before bed 5.3 and you can see this mornings BG

I'm supposed to be putting shelves up in Daughters garage today, apparently moving house is allowed, wear mask, no socialising, in and out.

Time moves on. Keep safe.
 
A 4.7 this morning and the rain is beating down.

Didn't go to bed until 2 am but have slept through until 6 so that's an improvement (I think). I'm going to take a look at Procreates animation feature today, it's a Disney style frame by frame affair but it may be useful with a bit of patience

Decided to try and watch Strictly downstairs last night after spending all day prepping for the last tournament of the year, and lodger annoyed me with seemingly being utterly incapable of working out how to get the more portable Dyson off its rack. It really is not rocket science and I was in the middle of cooking my dinner! Then just wittered at me non stop while I was trying to watch TV ... so now watching it back upstairs the morning after!

Was supposed to go to Sainsburys today but it is hammering down and actually, the magic Lakeland bags have done a decent job of preserving the old veggies so they may well last for a few extra days. Can just get some stuff from the little Tesco instead if I need it...

I keep putting and losing the same couple of Lbs on in my bid to dip below 10st for the first time in about 20 yrs. so change up in training. With no golf or tennis, the plan is to do cardio Mon-Fri and just some restful Qi Gong tai chi at the weekend.
I have no cartilage left in my knees and an amazing Physio who has gotten me to the state that I can run and walk in my tready for half an hour. Plan for the week is Treadmill, Bike, Boxing, Boxing, Bike.. Lodger should be awake around 7 on weekdays and just mindful that the Treadmill is pretty noisy not to mention my gallumphing on it, but so close to this target weight I need a big push now. Cardio Boxing is on the Wii and I still feel a bit self-conscious doing that if someone else is in the house! Then again it IS my house so maybe I should just get over it!!!

Time to urge the travel kettle to make me a cuppa, and then will watch the last couple of episodes of The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix, before the last tennis tournament of the day starts around 12. First time in 7 years we are not all at the O2 for its last year in London... but I am using it as an opportunity to step up my Instagram week and get into the habit of it going forward!

@gennepher wise words this morning, and I think it is very important to allow ourselves those moments of wobbles about how we are doing/dealing/adapting... we can get through it with a little change in our mindsets.
@Muddy Cyclist last night’s dinner was a cauliflower, egg and potato (!!!) curry but I use just a couple of baby potatoes and whole grain basmati rice so I am quite surprised that the levels settled quite nicely overnight in the normal range. I have my Libre range set to what normal folk should be so in the green all night is fine by me although I will admit to always being a bit trepidatious when I scan after a bit of a naughty at dinner!
 
Good morning everyone. Have a good sunday, we hope to have visits via zoom to church and from daughter today.

Was supposed to have a relatively urgent heart scan at Carlisle today but the hospital put it off due to a sick Sonographer.
Next saturday has been offered and provisionally agreed by me, but I have great reservations due to the hospital having a reputation for passing on Covid. Last week the director of health was warning Cumbrians to keep the regulations and that the intensive care at Carlisle was reaching full capacity.
My gut feeling is on balance of risk my heart scan can wait until after I get my vaccination. At 81 I should be getting it by next Spring.

I'll see what my eldest says?
