Thanks Derek. Originally two of our boys were going to do the moving to protect her as much as possible. That now looks illegal so we are looking at having her here on removal day - support bubbles still working? - and wondering about deep cleaning the new property before she moves in. Tricky procedure - also likely to put a dent in my whisky stocks. Still, good luck to the old gal. Her mum was a fair tidy whisky drinker and lived to 99.8.

Workout done but wondering whether I am reaching the limit of what I can push my knees to do (certainly on a treadmill).
A lot of grinding and grumbling from the right knee in particular... so soft supports on.

That being said - I had to be devious and order two knee braces from Bio Skin from two different outlets as they were both limited to just one each! So stock shortages could well be down to an abundance of people taking to the streets or treadmills to work out and cricking their knees! Either way hopefully they will gave a little less give than these ones have now.

In terms of stress - my tax return came back from the accountants without having taken into account AT ALL the initial January 2020 payment so now they seem to want me to pay well over twice as much. Yeah - that ain't happening so waiting for the accountant to get back to me.

Haven't had fat head dough pizza for a while so going to try that today... only to use up some ham!

Finally accountant rang back. I had missed a section on their questionnaire to put tax paid on account... and with having paid the deferred amount yesterday my tax has come down quite considerably! However anything to do with HMRC always sends me into a total tail spin.

It would appear once I get past fingers and toes I am useless with numbers.

Not sure whether I will be able to pay back my best mate who bailed me out in the summer as well... which is a blow because I did not want to start the year owing money. Bah humbug (on account for December...)

Penultimate poem from Malcolm Guite's anthology. Truly multium in parvo but ssas she write all too complicated for capture in a net of words. I have enjoyed these poems immensely and a found the glimpse into Guite's mind humbling. AS Luci Shaw says My open widow mind is too little for this landscape. He has a vast sweep of knowledge of poetry which has awakened an interest laying dormant in me for almost 50 years.

Good Muddy Cycle ride but a few aches, need to do more.

All Christmas decorations now down and back in loft, took a good chunk of the day. Rewarded with a show of Orchids which have bloomed behind the Christmas tree so we had not seen them.


News on friends funeral in Port Talbot and his wife wants me to write and read a eulogy and so need to travel. Will go in Wilfrid VW camper as I can cook, make coffee, sleep if needs be and of course it's got a loo so makes sense. Of course this highersthe risk of being stopped by the Welsh Police, ah well needs must but risky on so many levels.

I have made a start on a painting of Etchinghilll, needs to match one I did some time back, we shall see...

A4 watercolour but now have to wait for it to dry.....


Needs to be in same stile as this watercolour I did, its goimg on the same wall.
 
Winner for the art and Orchids, hug for the aches and worry of the journey to deliver the eulogy. Obviously an honour to be asked but somewhat of a problem in these times. Wilfred sounds as good a solution as possible. I'm sure you will take care but some prayers will also go with you.

Yes difficult times and decisions, also strange as we will not socialise, friends wife knows this. We hope for some distant time when restrictions and Covid allow us to celebrate friends life, but not now.

too many carbs over Christmas methinks

Quite a mild feeling day here today and I got some leaves raked in mum's garden whilst mr gee took Mum to the nearest town to get her pension.
Mum told us she wanted to go by bus on Thursday but we persuaded her to go today by car, she got the post office opening time wrong so they ended up sitting in the car on the High Street for 30 mins. so I got quite lot of raking done before they got back
Katy kept me company, she ran round the garden a lot and challenged the wheelbarrow to mortal combat

I like your initial washesfor your painting, I should try that technique. It goes without saying I love the hilltop grove of trees
A sad dilemma for you but Wilfred is obviously worth his weight in gold for the safe harbour he provides

I see as a last move Trump has sold off to Oil companies concessions to drill on the Alaskan plain national wildlife refuge where the land is sacred to the first nation peoples.
I hope we see the back of his kind in leadership for good.
