Thank you. Yes there was virtually nobody there so a lot safer than a supermarket and our rather busy village paths.@Krystyna23040 If you were away from people am sure there was no harm done. I think the benefits for your mental health outweigh the short distance you drove. Nearly five miles, pfft, some have to drive that far to a supermarket.
Here, the minute I leave the apartment there are people, sometimes, many people, to try and avoid. Staying local feels far more risky than driving to a quiet place for a walk.
Thank you. It did feel so wicked as I really had been a.paragon of virtue up until then.I'm glad...and when you look at the behaviour of many others, you're a paragon of virtue...
Good morning to you...
It does look as though the low carb you have been doing has allowed your body to heal somewhat - which is really good news.. Of course, you are right, it would be wise not to 'push your luck' by continuing with higher carbs. Hope you found some tasty low carb cake recipes.08.03.2021
7.30am FBG 5.8
Still not reflecting what us really going on.
Am eating far too many carbs. This has got to stop.
Off to supermarket this morning and planning to look up low so carb cake recipes before I go. Will have to be quick on that though as the hordes will be hitting the shops soon.
5.5 this morning.
Had a lovely day yesterday. Were a bit naughty and drove almost 5 miles to a lovely wooded area. It was so nice to walk in the countryside without the noise of traffic. The birds were singing and the sunshine through the trees was magical. It definitely lifted my mood.
Felt a bit guilty afterwards because nearly 5 miles isn't staying local.
Well said @jjraakI blame Govt.
A wishy washy "Stay Local" just engenders anxiety about what THAT actually means on the one hand
And an
"ok I can go anywhere" on the other hand by the more reticent of the population to comply any way
Some manage responsibly other took it as a green light to wander off on journeys of over 200 miles.
Cummings ring a Bell
Some countries, Ireland for example, stated a distance 2 miles was one, I believe, and for France 5k rings a bell, mmhh
As said, 5 miles in London, might seem far,
But in the sticks, you'd do more then that just to borrow sugar off a neighbour, apparently
If it helps, as a guide me and most of west London it seems, travel over 5 miles to visit our biggest local rural open space...gives me no qualms at all
Sat in car :SD tick
Walk in open spaces : SD tick
Sit back in car :SD tick
Glad you enjoyed your walk, hope you can enjoy many more to come, guilt free.
Easing pressure on the NHS by taking responsibility for your Mental health,
By taking full advantage of the calming open spaces 'nearby', the exercise & fresh air
Which are all contributing to keeping you as healthy as possible ?...a WIN, All day long
Makes you a model citizen, imho
@alf_Josiah, @dunelm and @jjraak thanks for the hugs which acted as confirmation of what I really knew. My relationship to food and drink has clearly become dysfunctional. Food and drink has to be more than a tool to fight bg. It always was before LC and back in the day with LC. I think multi day fasts and straying into a few threads here destroyed that. Quite a bare knuckle fight within me, which some must have spotted, to wrestle control from what the relationship has become. Absolutely worth fighting for. Now I need to deal with the causes. The hugs should be optimistic IMHO and this post is mainly cathartic so not in need of ratings.
Yes me too.
What's that old time hackneyed phrase - "The best laid plans...." Awoke to find I am travelling to Asia not at the weekend but Thursday, still from Farnborough, coming back when I expected to Heathrow, thankfully.
Anyway, a dinner of grilled chicken with greens galore but a naughty dark chocolate thing and glass of Merlot conspired to deliver 6.2 on the FBG. Still a whole lot better than the 12.3 I was at diagnosis in January this year.
Today, trip prep, brace of conference calls, working out best way to get to Farnborough from Bath as I'm leaving Sid the Stinger in the care of Mrs BRS (shudder) a trip on the trike to get a repeat Metformin and keeping an eye on here...
Have a wonderful Monday!
Thank you, engineering task todaytostraighten it, possibly.Leaning towers in the mist, looking forward to the finished piece
Good to hear you are getting back to your own variety of normal.Good morning everyone from a damp and dreary start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of red Tai curry wandered in at 5.2 this am - that’s better
Slept again yesterday - mostly but by dinner time was mostly back to my own take on what normal is.
Video call with my mother and a surprise appearance from father with at least a dozen words - a record from him I think over electronic means. They will be getting their second jab in a week or so - Pfizer one - still not much uptake in France - mardy Macron’s big foot in the mouth expo to a nation not that keen on vaccines in the first place.
Art - quick sketch of some bamboo on a misty morning. Hope everyone is on an upward spiral. Time for koffy.

On the way there I am the only passenger and have submitted my food requests - protein and asparagus all the way there. So sashimi, chicken, asparagus and breakfast cold cuts and a bit of cheese I think.Quite a longish trip.
You worked out any sort of menu, tactic or food plan for the flight itself ?
Thank you @Muddy CyclistA nice angry painting, I think the tree is extremely scary, brilliant.
Hi @gennepher - the outbound flight is a cert - definitely heading out as it is nightstopping in Tapei before heading over the Pacific with 4 others; coming back is the one I'll be keeping a beady eye on! I'll pack extra underwear just in caseThank you @BRSBRI
I suppose you are at the mercy of any changes of schedule and times with your outward bound flight...good luck for the trip.

I'll starve on the regional flights and sip water, even though one of the flights is nearly 5 hours long. On the long haul home, I'm on Singapore Airlines so will eat in the lounge - they did good grilled fish at Changi and sleep all the way back as I'm not squashed in a middle economy seat. Maybe grab an omelette at Heathrow, then Heathrow Express to Paddington and home to Sid the Stinger, hopefully still in 1 piece
That's the plan anyway...
Edited: just been told I might be able to hitch a lift back too, so just as well they booked me a fully refundable ticket - won't know that till next week.
