I need some help.
I had my first Pfizer jab February 8 2021
I got notified the night before by text from the NHS.
The letter didn't arrive until a couple of days later after the jab (the post was rubbish at the time).
I was told I had to wait until the nhs sent me an appointment for the second jab.
Nothing came. A friend phoned after 3 months, and was told I had to wait until the nhs sent me an appointment again. She tried again a month later, but couldn't get through.
I knew of others in this area who hadn't had the second jab some months later.
Finally, I said to myself, I will just go for the booster Covid jab when it is offered in the Autumn. because as far as I could understand, and what I have read, it might not be a good idea to have the second jab so far away from the first.
Yesterday, a letter came from the nhs.
When I opened it, it said, since you didn't take up our offer of the covid vaccination earlier in the year, we would like to offer it to you again, and it gave me a first appointment of the day one day next week for my first jab of the covid vaccine.but I have already had the first jab.
I checked my name and nhs number on both letters, and both are the same.
When I went for the first jab, in February, I took my drivers licence for ID, people checked my name against a list, then the next desk checked it against a list and checked drivers licence. Then something similar at a third desk, and then I waited and someone checked my name again against a printed list, then I waited for the jab, go into the booth where the nurse checked me in on a computer screen and she gave me the injection and gave me a card with name and number of Pfizer vaccine. Then I was directed to another computer desk where this guy entered stuff on the computer and looked at my driver's licence again. Then I was given a piece of paper with the time that I could leave after sitting down.
Despite all this checking and computer checking when I went, and had my first Covid jab, I get a letter over 5 months later that I have not attended nor had the first Covid jab.
So i check the scan thing on yesterday's letter, and go to my appointment for next week. But I find you cannot attend this appointment if you have had the first jab. It is not for the second jab. So I delve in further (no opportunity to contact a real person nor an email address). Anyway I find a way to alter it to the second jab. But this takes me to more stuff where i have to sign and confirm that it is more than 8 weeks after I had the first covid jab. And it also says I have to attend the same place as where I had the first covid jab. So i confirm it will be. And so i change my appointment they have allocated me from being a first jab to it being my second jab.
To be honest i thought some automatic stuff might kick in with the booking system, to say they have no record of my first jab, but nothing.
What I would like your help with, if you would be so kind, is could you write down some questions I need to ask when I in next week, like..
Is it safe to have the 2nd jab more than 5 months after the first...
Do I need two jabs again because it has been so long from the first so the second jab will be ineffective...
By the way, on the booking site, it said in Autumn you would get both the flu jab and the booster Covid jab together at the same appointment.
I have the disadvantage of them being behind masks when speaking to me and i will have no idea of what they are saying to me. I cannot lipread through a mask. So I would like to try and pre empt questions, by writing them down on a piece of paper and handling the paper to them.
I have Popeye not well today, and I cannot spread my brain any further to think of this...he is my priority today. And his girlfriend just turned up with an injured paw ( the owners of her are not in, no cars there), so I have just examined her paw (she let me even though it hurt her), cleaned it up and put cat antiseptic, on the sore bit that she seems to have been biting. But the paw is swollen and she needs more than I can give her.
Popeye's breathing is very shallow, but the day is very warm and airless this afternoon, he has fans on him and a damp towel. He has done this before on airless days, then he revives to being okay when the evening gets colder (though we are having weird weather where it continues getting warmer throughout the evening). I now have a humidifier going, and a mister of fine water. I need them as well.
