What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Enjoy your long weekend @dunelm
I like the simplicity of this Art bit tree sketch.

Picky Shadow getting all pampered domestic about food now. Smashing overlay of leaves in your kaleidoscopic art.

Hello everyone from a cool, bright and sunny start to Thursday in the none too Exotic East where we have responsibility for a solitary granddaughter. Good to know so many chums are still functional, creative and sociable. Thanks for the art @dunelm have a safe journey and memorable reunion. Fifty years is quite the milestone even if the Meedja focus on Her Majesty's 96. @gennepher another wonderfully detailed account of how your kindness is shared by the very local wildlife. Sharing food and living in harmony? - interesting idea if it ever catches on. Thank you for the kaleidoscope and introducing me to Jack by the Hedge. @jjraak you livened up the thread yesterday with Marley and Me but your boys collapsed like a pack of cards yesterday. Presumably many are worried about new owners not needing to launder ill gotten gains. To think, if rumours are true, he wanted to buy Uncle Jack out until the helicopter flight. Have a safe day and if things get too tough have a little jaunt. India is good this time of year, the IPL is going well but is it The People’s Priority? Big Dog on Tour T-shirts available from all good retailers and some with appalling ethics and customer service.

4.3 at 4.30am and 5.2 at 6am so it looks like I am now moving back into my more normal 5s for fbs.

Dog walk and Aldi shopping done. I
We are relaxing with a coffee before we drive to Cockley Clry. We will have lunch in the 20 Church Wardens but before that will walk where there used to be the Iceni Village. Hopefully we can walk as far as the lake.

She is not very happy about Mr Magpie. She doesn't think he should partake of her cat food...
Thank you for the compliment @dunelm

Thanks @ianpspurs
There might be trouble on the horizon between Shadow and Mr Magpie....

Great fbg. Enjoy your walk and lunch. Cockley Cley is a fascinating place. This one is closer (14 mins) to us but CC is about 40 minutes along the A11 (when it functions). I like the look of Swaffham. I always hear two wonderful men of Norfolk I know pronouncing it Swarrrffumm.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and all who had a busy Morening.
Blood sugars were 5. something or other, I can’t remember now.
We have been invited round to a neighbours for a bbq’d vegan bacon sarnie, should be fun.
Stay safe all and remember, remember what? Who knows and more importantly who cares.

We had a lovely walk around the parkland surrounding Cockley Cley Hall. Didn't find the lake though. Apparently it is fenced off now the Iceni Village is no more.
Had a lovely meal at the Twenty Church Wardens and I was quite naughty and had a piece of Lemon Meringue Roulade. It was delicious.

Came home and ordered a new Nespresso Machine. My current one has gone wrong after 4 years. Obviously I am making too many coffees. The new machine looks supurb.

Then I got a very sad phone call from a class member who has been attending my classes for many many years. Her husband (who is in his 70s and a very safe motor bike rider) was killed last week on his motorbike on the road to Fakenham from Dereham. We went through the Police Fatality signs on our way to Morston Quay last week but never dreamt that it was someone we knew.

Very, very sad.
It is late and I feel for both yourself and your friend, I will try to reply more fully at some point tomorrow.

Hugs x

Fbg...still taking a sabbatical from that Mr Stabby...my fingers appreciate that...

Yesterday morning Shadow had her breakfast, and sat on the swing just above the cat food, which I had replenished. And was guardian of the cat food. The parade of the gingers came along next very aware Shadow was monitoring their wet cat food consumption A from barely two feet above their heads. Only 3 bites each, insisted Shadow...or at least they only took 3 wary bites before they left.

Then along came Mr Magpie. You're not having any cat food said Shadow. My Magpie was hopping and Shadow sent him packing. A few moments later Mr Magpie was back. No, said Shadow and sent Mr Magpie packing again. Shadow is only small, the Magpie is bigger than she is. For a third time Mr Magpie comes into land. He is hopping mad and furious by now now. Shadow sends him packing again.

I go to the kitchen to make a cuppa tea, and return. Shadow has gone. And so it seemed had Mr Magpie. It looked like an interspecies incident had taken place. All my plastic pots and stackable strawberry planters had been sent flying.

I was worried. This was early morning. There were no stray cats the rest of the day, and no Shadow, and no Mr Magpie.

This morning I went out while it was still pitch black to open the cat diner early. Shadow was waiting on my wooden swing and she seemed fine. She ate a bowl full, and left, no sitting on the swing after eating today. Moments later while it is still pitch black outside comes along cocky Mr Magpie who thinks he is getting that bowl of wet cat food. No, you are not I thought. I didn't have anything to hand, but I could slam my window hard. Mr Magpie flew off. It is now 3 hours later, 7am and he had not returned. That easy I thought? No, he had been planning a new strategy, and came in from another angle where I had no chance of seeing him come in, snatched one small piece, and flew off before I could react.

Shadow creeps out of the undergrowth, looks at me and says, Hey I have this covered, Mr Magpie took me by surprise too.

So, the guardian of the cat food (Shadow) is guarding by stealth from the cover of the undergrowth...

Creative today...another wild flower...Yellow Archangel as a kaleidoscope in Laboscope.

Now that I have been relieved from the scaring duties of Mr Magpie, Shadow has this under control, I can get on with my day.

Coffee? Don't mind if I do.
You have a cuppa as well...

Condolences to both you and your friend. As a biker myself I know that even the greatest of care and observation can result in accidents. So sad.

Well it’s all kicking off and Shadow has her work cut out. Magpies are quick learners. Splendid Yellow Archangels.

Good morning everyone from what looks like another day of warmth and sunshine here in the not so dark and dangerous north.
Pick up from Manchester Airport was going swimmingly until the baggage handlers staggered into action like a pack of sloths climbing out of a tree. Snails were racing past them but after only an hour, bags appeared on carrousels and all was well.
Art bit - A boat. Have a grand day. I simply must make some koffy in my travel cafetière.

It was a shock and bought issue of Mr K riding a motorcycle to a head.

I have always been nervous when Mr K rides his motorbike, especially since I was hit by white van man while riding my bicycle, but I have never wanted him to give it up as he loves his motorbike.

Last week I was drawing Mr Ks attention to the number of motorcycle and moped accidents in Norfolk and Suffolk (which I am afraid I do regularly) and he said that he had been thinking of selling his motorbike. I vetoed that idea and said that he would regret it if he did.

After the phone call from my client I was quite upset and Mr K said again that he did want to stop riding his motorbike. He then admitted that the last time he rode it he had a near miss with an overtaking car and that the standard of driving in Norfolk had really deteriorated since covid.

So I did suggest that he could just take it off the road rather than sell it. I was really surprised how relieved I felt when I realised that he was really serious about giving up riding it.
