What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.5 this morning. Interestingly was 7.2 two hours after breakfast. If it had been 5.2 this morning it still would have jumped to 7.2 after breakfast. Not sure why the higher fbs is- the smaller the rise after food is.

Today am on Zoom as my Norwich venue has a Synod event today and they are using the whole church. So am easy day.

It was 8 degrees on the dog walk this morning. So pleased that I wore a very warm jacket.

Hello everyone from a bright blue skied but decidedly chilly Breckland region. @dunelm many thanks for sharing your majestic art and have a safe, trouble free journey. Make sure the pen used for those letters patent doesn't leak since some do every stinking time. Keep a watchful eye on your Dad's tomato buying this time. @gennepher thank you for the kaleidoscope and video. Were you awake to note the times of all Midnight's activity or extrapolate from the videos? @Krystyna23040 enjoy a restful day. Is the post breakfast reading usual? Interesting that a higher fbg gives a smaller rise. Enjoy Tesco @alf_Josiah - a match made in heaven. Phone consultation yesterday confirmed my bloods are fine for Monday's infusion to go ahead despite some treatments being cancelled. No 3 son's car is fixed way ahead of schedule - under warranty so free. So was the diesel he used meanwhile. I have discovered a fondness for flaxseed, inulin, kefir and Greek yoghurt "porridge" with berries for breakfast at around 11.00 am. I was contemplating buying kefir grains and accoutrements to make my own but I have an idea @Krystyna23040 eats something similar for breakfast and 7.2 would totally freak me out. Anything over 5.5 brings on a fit of the vapours even with other minor medical issues now. Enjoy your day which sounds distinctly odd and risks censure just now. I'm also not sure I ever needed to know just how Brands were showing their respect just to stay "on message" Surely you show respect quietly, privately and with some shred of dignity not because the PR Dept. says it will look good to customers? A tad too cynical? Toddles for now.

I extrapolate a bit from the videos @ianpspurs
And if I have woken in the night and gone to kitchen to make a cuppa, and see him in there. Or, if the kitchen has been rearranged a little, or if he has played with his catnip fish, or if he has eaten his spoonful of greek yoghurt in the night. A few things give me clues.

You have a good day.

Mysterious at Moonlight...all those hidden places within...
Have a good trip back @dunelm

@ianpspurs yes 7.2 is normal for me after breakfast:and it makes absolutely no difference if the breakfast is the kefir, flaxseeds, yoghurt and berries or just bacon and eggs. It just seems my body doesn't work as well in the morning.

BS was 4.3 before lunch today and 5.2 after lunch.

Hello all. Mind if I listen in for a bit? Antje suggested I try this thread because I do like to chat and am a bit too garrulous for the "what have you eaten today" one.

I have difficulty with my fbg - it's almost always around the 11-15 range. The only mornings when it isn't have been after a very high bedtime reading (16+) for which I have taken a huge correction dose. Then it's likely to be around 6.

I'm T2 on insulin and using maximum levels of bolus and a high level of basal.

I say you're most welcome to join in the chattery...

I found the "hi, a 6.5..bye" only rule hard to keep too ..

No idea about insulin though.
Diet & Metformin only here.

But others will have more idea of the impact of such.

I might offend a few by saying welcome to the chattering thread, but I don’t care, me, me’s and myself hope some of our musings bring a smile to your face and you like the artwork.
.
I’m T2 on insulin and a shed load of other stuff check out my profile, you might have to go into it. I can’t offer advice, one member gave me some very good advice he pops on here now and again @Cumberland, there I’ve tagged him. I’m sure on this site somebody must be able to offer helpful advice.
Either way enjoy the ramblings.

It's the ramblings I'm after. I clearly need to get a life because I have a need for someone to talk to, or at least to listen to. My son lives with me and we do have conversations but he has Asperger's and is not much of a chatter. I talk, once in a while, to some friends on Zoom and once a week to my brother who lives in Swindon (I live in the Hebrides). Other than medical appointments, I can't get out of the house at all. So, I just, really want to listen in to people with something interesting to say (and maybe, after a while, put in some words in - trying not to be too garralous).

Good to see you here and I'm sure people will enjoy your tales about Em amongst other things.

Hi @Annb
Welcome to this thread.
I use diet and Metformin to control my diabetes.

Turning cold in the North of England. It was -2 deg C in Shap last night..needless to say I had the heating on this morning and tonight.
My hip is beginning get better after the accident, but summer has been very restricted. I started to drive again last week.
Hope you all ok
Derek

And I was complaining about feeling cold today! Temperature nowhere near as low as that overnight in the Hebrides and plenty of cloud cover tonight, so it shouldn't be all that low either. Cold enough indoors during the day to put the heating on, but I'm not going to. It will have to get a lot colder before I'll agree to that. Plenty of sweaters and blankets coming in to play first. We're too soft these day - in Kent it used to get very cold in the winter so that there was ice on the inside of the windows and only one open fire to heat the whole house. So we had lots of warm clothing and bedcovers. But we were young then and we didn't seem to feel it. 65 years or so ago.

That's great that your hip is getting better and that you have started back driving

Fbg 6.5

More nighttime action from the wildlife trail camera
A selection of some of the night's activity...

My creative collage from this...
The video has the sound of the renowned Midnight clout (usually reserved for the fox...)
Another cuppa due...
Have a good day...

Welcome to the chatty corner

Glad that he hip is begining to behave and good that you are back to driving again - keep away from Shap and Hardknott for a while

Fascinating nocturnal activity - it’s all going on
