What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sometimes, I think you just go along with the day as regards food @jjraak and it works out that day, whether it is more or less food

You have a busy day. Take care x

Thanks @jjraak I have applied. My current one is two years old...

Oh dear, a hug for that.

I suppose if there is any light in that, it is perhaps better to have caught it now, when help is more readily available then previously.
And before the winter wave begins it rise.

Get better soon, both of you .
Thank you@jjraak. Our next Covid & flu jabs are booked for mid October. We are both feeling pretty rotten atm but I keep telling myself that is because our bodies are in fighting mode which is a good thing. Take care.

Hope you feel a lot better very soon @dogslife . You are right that Covid is still lurking around.

Eye check today.
Nice lady conducting it.

Didn't go well.

Might have an issue with left eye

I have noticed it's not as good as the right one.

Put it down to being bed/house bound so long, bored & reading forum on mobile because it was easier in hospital, and I just carried on.

Lady asked about crutch etc.
Told her of accident.

Seemed concerned.

She's looking to get a 2nd opinion and promised to be in touch soon.

The gift that keeps on giving

Oh & I got stood up by PTSD counselor....

It doesn't rain but it pours, as my old mum would have said.

Good job I got wellies, then.

Shame about the PTSD counsellor - I hope there was a very good reason given for not turning up.

Eyes do give out at different rates. I don't know why but it's not uncommon. There is little actually wrong with my eyes but the right one is weaker than the left - it is also the one that causes me to be unable to see far to my right at road junctions (it seems to be a different shape to normal). I have found that, when I am reading, or concentrating on the laptop screen, I am more comfortable just closing my right eye and reading with my left one. Ordinary eye tests don't reveal anything wrong at all.

Took the better half to Dermatologist, yesterday pm urgently within the two week rule.
She has three lesions on her leg that looks nasty.
We were relieve when he said they were not cancer, but they need a biopsy to know how to treat them. So next step the biopsy in October.

I am having my right cataract done again Friday since it was cocked up last year at Preston.
It's £2000+this time but worth it to be able to see through two eyes properly.
Atb
D.

Good luck on Friday and I hope your eyesight improves once it's done.

Aw, what a scary trip for both of you...poor old duchess.

Good news it's not suspect, let's hope they find an acceptable treatment asap.

And ouch for you ....

But like you say, money well spent to see clearly again.

No likelihood of recouping costs because of botched first go ?

Best wishes to you both.

Yes it was.

Lady did say her child's awaiting an op, that had been cancelled last minute .

Hopefully it's the offer of a slot came up, rather then anything else untowards .

Problem will still be there next time she helps so, so not too worried .

Just that angst of setting up for the day...it is what it is...as they say .

Cheers for pointers, sure it's just opticians I need

Having to do reply separate @jjraak
It won't post with your post for reply.

My reply..

Hugs about the possible eye issue.
My eyes are changing too, so it is concerning me also.
I spend too long on screens.
So I keep looking outside through my open door and focussing on a distant object for 20 seconds. Eye hospital said to do this. Said to do it at least every 20 minutes. I do forget a bit because I am on the screen in the middle of something, that I could lose.
Eye doctor said, every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, look at object 20 metres away. But you need an open window/door for this...

I also do a couple of apps with eye exercises. I am not sure how much they help, but it doesn't help that I keep forgetting to do them. So many other things I have to do as well to maintain this creaking old body.

Just had reminder text last night saying about eye hospital appointment in England in 3 months time (it's once yearly). So, I will kick back into action today on the eye stuff. This is not laziness on my part, it is some event which turned everything upside down in my life, and affects my children also. Two are not accepting this well. The daughter in Oz, we are having a lot of emotional talks on this. I do keep breaking down. I have not mentioned it on here, it is complex. Don't worry it is not a physical body health issue.

But this level of stress affected my eyesight, and everything went more blurred, which happens to me in times of stress. I have been trying to work on that...the stress. I am doing my own strategies. But I do keep losing my way. Overwhelmed would be a good word for my issue.

You have had a horrendous accident @jjraak So much to deal with, so much to process, even on a daily basis. That alone can put stress on your eyes.

The PTSD counsellor that stood you up...you invested so much time and energy and preparation to deal with that appointment, and the rest of the day. It is a let down, even if you are 'cheerfully' talking about wellies to deal with the downpour of the whole day.

Do what you can to make each day the best possible day for you.

Smell the beautiful scented roses, even if there are none, and see the amazing soft silky petals in your mind. See the beauty of those roses, even if there is no beauty there in front of you. Or something else that will rock your boat and lead you to a more peaceful and restful place, even if it is only for momentarily...

Lots of love and gentle hugs x
