What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

More baking to be done today for my Welsh friend who will come tomorrow morning. It appears she can only cope with one person at a time and she has to structure her days. Now Monday is the "visit Ann" day for her.

Also need to make some kind of childish bake because my Persian friend is bringing a couple of troubled children to do some artwork on my kitchen table. Their mother is having difficulty coping with them and she is having a break on Tuesday late afternoon. If it goes well, it might be repeated. Must admit, I've met one of them and don't, at present, warm to him. I knew his father at a similar age and found him very difficult (he is currently in prison).

Morning all on the day of the actual or virtual London Marathon. Hug for the chesty cough but winner for the increasingly beyond majestic art @dunelm. I hope the Tom Yum soup and ginger work. Ginger is very much on my detest list so I've never considered such a brew as @jjraak suggested. If the need arises perhaps a never say never attitude would be worth considering? The go to in my family was hot lemon, honey, blackcurrant, cinnamon, mace and rum. @gennepher thanks for the creative and what ungrateful sparrows. MIL has somehow contracted COVID as well as being scammed out of lots of money. :bigtears: The LFT JKP did showed a small/thin line, we've never seen one, her symptoms are not severe and she has had the latest installment of jabs including flu. Bank put back all the money, blocked account and offered an extra layer of security. Lovely autumnal day yesterday weather wise but not so sport wise . Spurs, Cambridge United and Leicester Tigers all lost. In the case os Spurs and Leicester to the very teams I dislike most. As I type a mum and dad are pushing their son around the LM course in a bed like wheelchair so there are always unexpected inspirational gifts from our maker. @Annb hug for the potentially problematic dropping off but that prayer must have been well recieved to keep you safe. Enjoy your day stay physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally safe whilst allowing everyone else the same blessings.
Oh dear @ianpspurs
I am glad the bank reimbursed MIL
It is virtually impossible with the current lot of scammers to be aware of it all.
A Greattit appreciates the fat logs!!!

The wild life..

Quite a busy night. This was last Sunday night. There was a lot more than this...
Midnight is the cat on the swing.
The white looking cat is a ginger cat I call Ghost Cat.
The little black cat is the latest stray. I call her Ammy (short for Amethyst).
Then after Kissy Kissy, the badger, wandered out of sight, she came back and was very naughty...
I shall post that sequence in a day's time..
She was very bad...

All this activity takes place outside my bedroom door to the garden, and until I bought a trail/wildlife camera, I had no idea all this activity was taking place on a nightly basis.

With not being well with that Covid jab, I lost a couple of days recordings on the SD cards. I forgot to download them, and reformatted the cards over the shots that were on it.

Oh well...

My creative shows what the sparrows think of the fat logs instead of fat balls...

I don't care. Less sparrows to feed...
Give it a couple of hours...if they last that long...

Time for a cuppa...

And a well earned nap...

Be good...or not...
whatever tickles your fancy...

Thanks. JKP is taking Sunday lunch to MIL which she offered to do last Sunday but the offer was declined. MIL is aware of my treatment and we assume she was trying to protect me by not passing on her, at that stage we thought, cold to me via JKP. The scam has shaken her. For the first time she feels she now needs help.and is talking of selling up and living with us as she made her own mum, who lived to be about 2 months shy of 100..Perceptible change of attitude.
Edited to make it, vaguely, intelligible

These scammers have a lot to answer for. Their acts are purely evil. It really shakes your confidence to fall for a scam, whatever your age, and you begin to mistrust your judgement of everything. I fell for the one of these early purporting to come from the fraud department of the bank, early on in the development of them. I got my money back, but it was a harrowing experience. I feel so sorry for your MIL and hope she is able to get over the shock (and in my case the shame of having fallen for it). I was supposed to be smarter than that!

A distressing time indeed.

The shame isn't yours, it's theirs

And as always remember for us it's a scam & that shakes us.

But these guys are Professionals
They make a living doing this.

Easy enough for the wisest of us to taken in.
So you're in good company.

Be kind to yourself , after all you learned the lesson, and many don't .

An awful lot for her to be taking in right now.

Best wishes the covid passes quickly & her minds settles to a more relaxed state, asap

I've got over it now and am very careful these days - not at all trusting, which in a way is a shame. I am aware of all the warnings and haven't fallen for another of these scams again, although there have been several similar calls and e-mails. For the unwary, it is so easy to believe what the scammer says; as you say - they are professional con artists and very good at what they do.

Good morning everyone on a wonderful fresh can of koffy day here in the dark and dangerous north. When I was over in France, koffy had to be ground on a daily basis - the daily grind my mum called it. My parents buy koffy beans. Loose tea is taken over by visitors from the UK as they don’t stock even the most basic “proper” tea anywhere in the EU it seems. Will I manage to get a booster jab today - remains to be seen (a bit like in an archeological dig). Art bit - colour added so best get on with something else. Hope your day is a good one. I now need some koffy.

I have stone stairs16647166734471061139072010179513.jpg like these, but with glass doors, not the impressive archway. Ok took the photo. Now to try uploading it.

This is my post from this morning - it didn't post because I forgot to press the post reply button.

5.0 this morning. Relaxing with a coffee and catching up with the newspapers. Got as far as Wednesdays. Am speed reading then to get to the Suduko - my favourite part of the paper.

We are off to Gooderstone Water Gardens for a gentle walk. Archie has been a bit under the weather this week with a tummy upset so a gentle amble will be ideal. It will be his 16th birthday on Tuesday. Earlier this week when he went off his food I did wonder if he would make it.

First fire of the year yesterday. MrSlim said if he put on another layer he would look like Michelin man. No photo. It's on MrSlims phone and atm I can only post pics if I take them when posting. Quality of image is currently quite poor. Apologies for that peeps. There must be a better way, but baby steps.

Hug for the chesty cough.
"Tis the season to be plegmy"
I think the song goes..?

Tom yum soup, you say..mmh

Not my fav but Laurens likes it.

For chest & airways might I also suggest ginger tea.

(For others info)
Root ginger, no need to peel.
Slice up a few pieces, more equals stronger.
Place in pot an boil up.
Let simmer very low heat 10 mins
Then serve like tea.

Years of winter colds , would start in Oct end in Feb (asthma, so I'm told)
Very few colds since I tried it.
Worked for me, might work for others..has well known quality.

And included in link below.
The added bonus ginger supplement 'may' lower fbg ...maybe

Ginger tea and the wimpy lemon and ginger tbags are both very soothing for a sore or tickly throat.

My daughter has just completed the virtual marathon. She is raising money for a Dyslexia charity.

Skimmed through the posts for last ten days. Replied to a few, but I can see at least one ended up in the wrong place.
After a period of low mood followed by three days of no energy at all. I tested but was negative for covid.
FBG has tended to be in the fives for about a week. With one higher 6.1 and a surprising low of 4 8 another day.
MrSlim has finished pointing the end wall and is about to move on to some roof repairs at the other end of the building. Tried to post pics but no go this time.
Does anyone have tips on litter training a very young kitten?

You have a very young kitten?
Congratulations @SlimLizzy
I don't have any special tips about litter training. But I would put a newspaper under the tray.
I cannot remember training kittens. It was that long ago. But I did keep a close eye on a kitten in the first few days, and I took it to the tray every time I thought it may be thinking of doing something and scrabble its little paws in the cat litter...
Good luck x
