We don't have a smart meter either. The power company keeps offering one and I think, in the end, they will start charging more for power if you don't have one, but so far, we've resisted. There is no advantage to us in having one at present - we only have electricity anyway, so it's only one meter to read. And, since I cut down the use of electricity as far as I am will to go, and know what uses the power, it wouldn't save me anything. The thing is, I'm not keen on giving over control of anything to an outside organisation - and I'm hearing bad things this morning about power companies switching people over, via their smart meter, to "pay as you go", without even telling them beforehand. Too much control in an external organisation. We don’t have a smart meter - I don’t think that they are that smart. I take readings from gas and electric meters and send them in at month end . My bills have not really gone up much. Sorry you are not getting shifts, hope that changes for you.

FBG 8.1, by the way. It was 5.9 last night at 10 pm, when I went to bed, 8.1 at about 1.30 am when I got up again and 8.1 still when I finally got up at 7.30 am.
I often get higher figures after sleep, but they go down as the day. progresses. It would be interesting to see your figures before lunch and before dinner. Are you intermittent fasting?
Have you had a full lipid panel?Just like to say I’ve just gotten off the phone to my GP has I wanted my fasting blood results everything is normal readings except Lipids so I’m off to see the nurse in just over a weeks time earliest I could get.
Probably why GP has put me on Gliclizide recently????
What will a high lipid count cause???
Any advice on how to reduce it???K

We have an esteemed regular who may help you there once he has finished being an Elf N Safety guru, (Why couldn't I just link the word this?)So... I guess this is the new home of what we ate along with our test figures plus..... well more or less everything else!
Early mornin test 6.1... Higher than before bed.
Breakfast... Skipped it
Lunch .....skipped it
Dinner big blow out... glass of fizz, Chinese pork belly and crackling, stir fried broccoli stems. Affogato with an extra drop of Almond syrup and Kahlua. 2 small Liquors and a small scotch.
My Freestyle Libre 3 arrived today, so checking and comparing to the test strips. Exactly the same more or less give or take 0.2mmol. It is in mgdl, so I need to divide by 18 to get mmol.
Before dinner 4.3 then 2 hours after dinner and drinks 5.0...All in all i am pretty pleased with that. There was a bit of oyster sauce (which is sweet) in the broccoli stems. I also had ice cream and some sweet liquors, so pretty happy with that. It really is useful to see how the glucose is being processed with this realtime monitor.

Nope, I am staying here... That way i can give full explanations of what i have consumed and the levels that result. That needs a fair bit of type, and I suspect will generate questions which may be classed as off topic if they relate to figures.Try this thread for logging your https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today.75781/page-2640#post-2557898 the meals part but stay here for the fbg and General Chat - other military ranks are available. To be fair, the posts were not purged, they were moved, or at least i think that is what happened. Sadly i do not have time to spend ages working out a new site and all the different locations of things, so i just accepted that was what had happened.Really, all purged just like that ?
Am I to assume the "what did you eat" thread is now closed.because it wasn't popular?..that's sad
I mean, there is a reason most of us posted in one thread and not another, after all we all have a similar condition yet few simply post in "5,6 fbg"
you all must have liked it at least ...I feel your pain.
I do hope this isn't a portent of streamlining of the forum and only selected threads remaining
It was so nice to not only find some hope after DX, but to also find a niche I could call home.
I think I'd post less if it's fewer threads.
I personally found the support of just being in a group that not only allows you to verbalise around a topic you all find interesting, but also allows expression of more then just the physical side of our condition, to be very therapeutic.
I suppose someone new will start a what did you eat thread.
( it was a thread I took part in early on.)
it was & is a major part of newbies learning curve ...'what CAN I eat ....aaghh "
Sure it helped many others too
Good luck.
Aha..I see @ianpspurs has replied just before me, excellent.

As a newbie, all info is helpful to me. I am on a kick to lose a lot of weight at the start of all this, so only eating 1 meal per day. Christmas will probably change that, as will the start of the ski season, so good to know what others get away with when not trying so hard to lose weight. Also there are some lovely people on that thread who are very generous with their time, help and advice.EDITTED
Ok, had to re-edit once I read @ianpspurs post above.
Seems while posts had been removed, the reasoning had led to this
"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat
@Antje77 as promised! @Annb please tell how your family is doing; I've been thinking about you and yours. We have an absolutely gorgeous day here!www.diabetes.co.uk

I did look in the what have I eaten today thread.
Useful but I came out of it
The last thing I needed if trying to stick to a diet of fewer meals was an entire thread showing me what I was missing ..
So not for me..
Good luck finding a place that fits your needs too.
Sorry @Stephen BondTo be fair, the posts were not purged, they were moved, or at least i think that is what happened. Sadly i do not have time to spend ages working out a new site and all the different locations of things, so i just accepted that was what had happened.
I generally take a quick squint at "What's new", and then report daily test results and what i ate that caused those results.
Users who have years of experience and who post their daily consumption is extremely helpful to a Newbie like me, as it gives a good idea of what to eat and what not to. The first data of the morning I found helpful at first, but this goes all over the place everyday and can either go up or down. Hopefully with this new sensor, I should be able to see what foods cause it to go up or down overnight. By the way, the Libre 3 is not easy to look back over, but it is comfortable to wear. My fingers were getting too many holes in them.
I hope my somewhat more detailed posts will help other Newbies.
There are at least 3 fbg threads ranging from low or better yet no chat to some chat, which is where the newcomers have come from, to this one.Thank you for the link .
A far better explanation on that of what's happened here.
And seems to have been addressed with the parallel thread.
For a short while I had wondered if the entire forum was being streamlined to as few threads as possible.
Seems not to be the case, thank goodness.
Yes i guess a new thread might be more appropriate.. But then lots of people have to find that thread to make the move? Maybe better definitions and renaming of the threads.. Glucose readings and what you ate with short chat, and Daily Glucose readings. That said some posted very helpful recipes in the what you ate today thread and that was really useful.Sorry @Stephen Bond
Ian's links meant I had to re-edit my post quite extensively.
Sure it may.
Just wonder if many newbies will find it or trawl through posts to look ?
I know I found it hard when starting to find relevant posts.
Might its own thread be of more use
Seems a lot of data to post if not used ?
A great point @lindisfel .Have you had a full lipid panel?
One needs to see figures.
LDL, HDL and Trigs!
