Thanks @ianpspursMorning all on St Andrew's Day. A day when my thoughts turn to the beginning of 2 Corinthians 6:17 or stop this out of control coach from hurtling towards the centre of looneyville. My own immune system is hell bent on doing me in and here I am not putting milk, mylk or whatevs in my tea until 10 or 11 am when, as the Prof heading my care team says, there is not enough evidence that will do me any good. But prof, Tim Spector, Jason Fung, and the IFeratti?. Shrugs and grins. Huming beans ain’t logical, scientific beings. I had 2 coffees yesterday so that could explain things. We weren't meant to consume that stuff. Anyoldhow, cheese Advent calendar purchased again although I don’t like the Mexicana and the dogs wouldn’t cope well with the spice but love cheese. No 1 son will hopefully clear those up unless he is full from everything else he has “discovered.” We didn’t do a great job of teaching no means no there. I blame his nan. That’s all I got to say about that. Momma said life’s like a box of chocolates etc. @gennepher thanks for the video and creative. @Annb best wishes. @lindisfel I have used a mattock but used/use a twible mostly - my grandfather's word for a fen pickaxe. Enjoy your day, just don’t reflect too much on what sense it all makes.
Hope all went well @AnnbIt's approaching 8 am and I'm all ready to go for my endoscopy. Actually dreamed I had already arrived at the hospital - in a car we no longer have, with people who are no longer with us, other than Neil. Got to the ward to be told that there would be a long wait "because there is a Board meeting going on." Asked why we were called in at 9.30 if nobody would be seen until late afternoon, the nurse just shrugged. I felt a spurt of anger ... and woke up to find I was nowhere near ready to go yet, so hustled around a bit and here I am, bag almost packed and not allowed to eat until after the procedure but already hungry and FBG of 5.4. Have to watch that.
Great scratchy art bits @dunelmGood morning everyone from a lovely quiet (so far) morning here in the dark and dangerous north. According to the Pastifarian calender it’s Moustache Appreciation Day although the wode wearers over the wall have appropriated the festival for some bloke called Andy. Meanwhile, on the telly box there seems to be some international National Anthem singing contest going on or it could be a falling over contest for prospective stunt people. Whatever. Art bit, all the scratchy bits are now scratched in so some colour now needs adding for tomorrow. Have the best day that you can and try and compliment anyone sporting a moustache - I shall certainly be doing that when I wake Mrs Miggins with her morning tea. Meantime, better make koffy.

Sorry Ann, I thought you were having a colonoscopy. I wouldn't have something down my gullet without sedation. I had it done once without sedation and it was horrific.Wasn't quite what I imagined. Usually the hospital schedules diabetics at the top of the list to avoid BG issues, but not this time. Got there at 9.30 but hung around for a couple of hours before they came to form fill and get consent for the procedure, then another 3 before they got to my turn. They seemed to be working very slowly. Everyone there was having the same procedure and in that time they got through 8 patients. They kept saying "it only takes 5 minutes" but I couldn't figure out where the rest of the time was going in that case.
Did I really want sedation? Yes, I did. By the time they got to me, I was already horribly stiff and in serious pain so laying, unsedated on my left side (the worst side for me) wasn't something I wanted to contemplate. Of course, getting blood, or inserting a needle for anything is never easy with my veins. 2 nurses tried, and gave up and just left it at that. Shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't do it. That was about 1.30. An hour later, an older nurse (one who actually worked with my husband during one of his spells trying to leave seafaring) tried a few times and managed to get it in. Then I was whisked into the theatre, settled onto my painful left side and then given the sedative. Of course, it didn't kick in for about 15 minutes, by which time the procedure was done with lots of gagging on my part and lots of reassurances from the nurses that I was doing fine! The tubes they used were also bigger than the ones they used last time. Certainly the actual time spent looking at my stomach was very brief - less than the five minutes. Not sure what they had time to look at in the 2 or 3 minutes it took. Wheeled back to the ward and I went to sleep then - sedative kicking in.
I shall be less blase about it next time they want to see my stomach wall.
At least that's it over for another year - I hope! BG stayed a fairly stable 7 - 9 until I woke up to a cup of tea and some toast.n After that it shot upwards, currently 10.5 and still rising. I did take insulin before eating as well, but perhaps not enough. Not to worry. Tomorrow is another day.
Oddly, when Alistair did his marine biology degree, the first classes were done alongside medical students and all of them were dissecting bits of cadavers - basic anatomy, I suppose. They did say before the course motivation would be tested. A few went home the first week when the had them dissecting cadavers!

That is such a kind thought. Thank you. I can make curtains, lined are even easier than not. But have never had to deal with pinch pleats before. Also had to make an extra curtain by removing side panels and stitching together. Not sure if this explanation is easy to understand.If you were closer I would have made the curtains and adjustments for you (free of charge). I am in the process of making curtains to cover a walk in wardrobe - floor to ceiling curtains

Jade, cat, has now taken over the swing from Cat, Midnight, who sleeps in the kitchen.
Midnight came out in the early hours and saw Jade in the middle of the swing. Jade sat upright, and they stare at each other. Then Jade goes back to sleep. Midnight looks around, and then gets on the shelf at the side of the swing (you can see his eyes) and carries on staring for the next 10 minutes at Jade who is fast asleep...(there was more than 10 more minutes of video clips one after the other of just Midnight's eyes watching over Jade)...
Yesterday, I was coming back home when I noticed there was a charity shop next door to the shop I was getting something I needed from. It was a Barnardo children's charity shop. And I thought, maybe I might be able to get a large toy for the swing again to replace Big Ted. I went in and at the back of the charity shop was a big display of soft toys, but it was a tombola which you paid a pound a go and there was a promise of a soft toy with each ticket. I bought two tickets. I picked 2 out of the tin, opened them and gave them to the lady at the till. But she couldn't find a toy with a matching ticket number. Pick 2 more tickets she said. Five minutes later, she could not find the matching ticket to the toy. Pick 2 more tickets she said...no joy as to matching the ticket number to any toy. Finally, she tipped all the tickets on the counter and we are both going through them. Then I told her she needed to get some new raffle tickets and re do all the toys. She lifted her head, this is embarrassing she said. I'll tell you what, just pick a toy. Can I please have the biggest toy, I asked her? It was still only a third of the size of Big Ted, that badger destroyed, but I wanted it to keep Jade warm on the swing at night. Certainly she said and handed me the lion, now pick another. There was one more big toy, but I couldn't ask for that, I had to leave this tragic tombola with at least some hope. You pick, I told her. She picked a small but really nice teddy bear which said Harrods on it (as if!), which Midnight was cuddling last night in the kitchen...
And when I got home, I found Midnight had discovered the joys of playing in cardboard boxes... I think the kitten in him has awoken...I gave him his very own 'Harrods' Teddy Bear.
As an aside, does anyone remember Harrods and their zoo department in London from the 50's? I had a fascination for lions and tigers as a child. Once at a travelling circus, I gave my parents the slip, as I often did, and wandered round the trailers at the back. There was a big tiger in this tiny trailer with vertical bars. There was no other barrier between me and the tiger. I had my hands round the bars of his cage, and we looked each other in the eyes. Then, finally, reluctantly, I took my hands off the bars and left. I never told anyone what I had done...it is still vivid in my mind.
Creative is Autumn, painted in Procreate.
Now, time to feed the beasts that live here...and see what happened in the night on the trail cameras...
