@gennepher no wonder you were not feeling good. Absolutely horrible dreadful vet. The vet was the one who was the complete and utter failure.I have a few humidifiers @jjraak
The big one that nearly drowned my bedroom last summer that I used because of the dry air and heat.
But I also have a couple of small usb personal ones, cost me £15 to £25 that run off a battery power pack , which means you can place it anywhere in a room, or next to where you are sitting.
I did write a much longer post here, but when I pressed send, it deleted half my post
Here is the rest of what I wrote...
A humidifier is good in winter apparently.
I have one going in the front room, and one in my bedroom.
Midnight took bad a couple weeks ago.
Respiratory infection.
Vet said Midnight was probably quite an old cat about 15 years old and suggested euthanasia.
Not on your darn Nelly.
We came home with antibiotics.
Midnight was still very very poorly.
Then I thought of my little humidifiers.
You could see the relief in his breathing immediately.
It is now nearly a week later, and I have my old Midnight back.
He has recovered.
He has lost weight, he's about half a size he was. Because he hasn't eaten for nearly 2 weeks.
But he is eating now and is healthier than me I think.
I am so relieved, I was sobbing my heart out before, because I thought I failed in everything. Now you know where some of my sense of failure came from. He hadn't turned the corner then. But he has now.
Those little personal humidifiers were and are worth their weight in gold.
They are helping me breathe better as well. I had never thought of using them in the winter...
Thanks @Krystyna23040@gennepher no wonder you were not feeling good. Absolutely horrible dreadful vet. The vet was the one who was the complete and utter failure.
How wonderful that Midnight has now turned the corner. All due to you.
I had no idea Midnight was sick. Never mind so very ill. So glad to read he is turning the corner. I hope you will enjoy each other's company for years to come. xxx@gennepher no wonder you were not feeling good. Absolutely horrible dreadful vet. On the wild life nighttime camera...
The Fox mooching around...
No cats about...
We have snow here.
I haven't looked at this morning's trail camera sd cards yet, but no one came in the kitchen last night for the all night buffet - 6 bowls of food. Usually, it is all eaten up, and I might refill if it is a cold night.
But nothing was eaten. Opened door to check if anything had walked past. Only footprints looked like they belonged to the fox (fortunately he cannot fit through the cat flap).
As soon as it gets light, some cats will filter in through the cat flap, as long as I don't go out there, and have breakfast.
I will be in bed with my electric blanket and flask of black coffee...
Nearly nap time for me. Been awake ages.
Creative is in ZenBrush3 and finished off in Procreate.
I meant to do a snow scene, but I forgot as I was doing my painting!
I think the cats are too easy to find...
Midnight was sleeping on me last night.
That is a relief, because the past week or so, he has been on the couch. His choice. Obviously he had been too weak to go outside for the bathroom. He had never used a cat tray, and any efforts to get him to use the cat tray meant the whole thing and contents were sent flying. We compromised on puppy training pads. Now he is on the mend, and can walk under his own steam, he has decided to use the cat tray. He has discovered that I remove the smelly contents immediately. And now tells me to come and empty it, even if I am asleep in bed...
He has also discovered his love of food again...
Have the best day you can...

They definitely know how to manipulate us @jjraakCats are so smart.
You may remember we have Marley manipulating the front door cat flap so he can tap on our door for attention/food ?
Our neighbours orphaned cat has now learnt the same trick.
Heard that distinctive 'miaow' outside our door the other night .
Marley AND Herman
(cat has a short moustache mark...and Adolf just seemed rude )
both giving us kitten eyes & swishy tails ...lol
Cats...
I rest my case...
Indeed we are Genn.

The high winds yesterday have caused some damage. A single sheet of corrugated iron escaped from the leanto roof and flew away. In revenge for its long captivity it smashed a number of tiles on the roof as it flew past. Winds of about 40kph helped it to completely vanish into the countryside. We notice our neighbour has also had two sheets escape from a shed and they too are nowhere to be seen. While grateful there is no human cost to this escape a new sheet will cost about €20 per metre, an unwelcome extra expense. MrSlim has been searching for second hand tin sheets with little success for some weeks. They are needed to finish the Cider press building. I think after last night there will be more demand than ever for this useful and expensive material.
One canopy over the doors is also damaged and another was threatening to come loose, so MrSim was up a ladder securing that and some other tin sheets in somewhat hazardous conditions.
Wonderful to hear that Midnight is doing so well @gennepher. He is definitely a very intelligent cat.Fbg 6.1

Our Jimmy discovered the door knocking trick and thereafter summoned us to open the door and let him in. We thought we had trained him, even though his companion Coco never learned the trick. Eventually we realised that we were the ones being trained.Cats are so smart.

Glad to hear nobody was harmed by low flying corrugated iron but sorry that you will have to fork out to replace it. Materials are so expensive. Tell Mr Slim to be careful, especially in the bad weather, when clambering around to fix things.17.01

I often feel exactly the as - that it is our Labradors that are training us.Our Jimmy discovered the door knocking trick and thereafter summoned us to open the door and let him in. We thought we had trained him, even though his companion Coco never learned the trick. Eventually we realised that we were the ones being trained.
New game - find the cats. Still very Chinese painting - I used to think Chinese pictures exaggerated the shape of their mountains, but they don't - there are mountains that shape in China. Love this style of painting. You really are talented being able to produce so many different styles.Fbg 6.1
