I don't think the examples you give are woke but I take your point. Woke is a flexible term mainly used in a pejorative way by those who hate their hypocrisy, bigoted and downright illegal views and actions being exposed to the disinfectant of sunlight. It is the weapon of choice for a certain demographic who use it indiscriminately so people end up feeling it has no meaning. You know like, say, a Chancellor of the Exchequer threatening to sue a journalist for stating the facts. Just too woke - actually more like no platforming or even ghosting. The B word has been effectively ghosted. Not wanting your son killed by police in Memphis is definitely not woke. I will try to find the excellent piece on the history of its usage and PM you if you are interested. Not that I would dream of wanting to offend anyone, so wouldn't post such a message. I tend not to be offended by "sweary" words, or even anglo-saxon based words. What I am offended by is that political correctness which undermines the English language by assigning trendy meanings to perfectly good words. I guess I have not been "awakened" - I actually don't know what "woke" is, nor do I want to. In my book woke is the past tense of a verb, not a noun. I so hate the silliness that prevents me calling a bird by its accepted name, without titters from the ignoramuses, or being asterisked out by prudish software, or other suchlike examples.
Sounds like a good dayMorning .
A 6.3 on the meter this morning
Thank you kindly Mr meter, I'll take that .
A day of tinkering with the scooter & motorbike yesterday.
A little achy, but the gym has helped ease unused muscles back into a condition to be useful, so not as bad as expected .
While physically it was nice, I think the real benefit was mentally
While I had done more in one day then I'd done in over a year, I still am aware of the limitations this year has put on me..
But honestly, once tools etc put away, I finally felt for the first time
Since accident...I'm BACK .
No small statement
I'd felt the 'me' of old was MIA, presumed dead.
But the simple pleasure I got from doing something I enjoyed, can't be over stressed.
While it certainly wasn't the nicest of days weatherwise, that inner sun came out for me, and left a little glow deep within.
Have a good un, all
Today's the first day of the rest of your life
Thanks for that @Annb. I did note that there is a Templar cemetery next to the Commonwealth War Cemetery so that may be interesting.Hug as well as a winner. I find sleeping in a recliner very comfortable, but probably not as comfortable as a bed, if you can manage to stay in it.
The new artwork is looking very promising.
Hope you manage to get to Haifa. It's an interesting and in parts, quite beautiful city with the crusader buildings and modern Baha'i buildings and gardens. It's a very straightforward city but even so, I managed to get myself lost, making me late for an appointment. I had to explain that I can even, after 40+ years, lose myself in Stornoway, which has very few streets in the town centre. I believe the part I got lost in has been redeveloped now, so perhaps it wouldn't be so confusing these days. If you can get to Akka, the crusader fortifications are also interesting.
Sadly, I see there is trouble in Jerusalem again. I think it is always a hotspot and possibly will be in the foreseeable future. I have to say, I found the population to be chaotic and arrogant. Didn't enjoy them at all. Driving is absolutely crazy and only to be attempted by people who understand the chaos.
I would be very interested. I'm still confused about this word (and offended by its use as a noun). Some people seem to call themselves "woke" (my nephew and his wife among them, I believe) and others seem to use it as a pejorative term. I could be wrong about that of course, not understanding could cause that. In fact I haven't spoken to my nephew in many years and have never met his wife so the report I had from his father could well be wrong and confusing me. My own step-grandson is another. He is so PC, it's difficult to talk to him, but he still has some growing up to do, despite having been recently married. Maybe I was so intolerant as well, in my youth. I don't remember. I was brought up not to be argumentative or challenging, but if anything was to be said, a spade was always a spade, not a manual earth moving tool, or something completely different.I don't think the examples you give are woke but I take your point. PM sent so hopefully you will be able to decide if the term originally had any value. Cultural appropriation has much to answer for as does deliberately abusing the term whilst being perfectly aware of the historical significance and what it means to a certain community. Strangely, some of our most expensively educated citizens are the most guilty. Odd that but pure accident of course. I'm inclined to see the deliberate misuse as a very close relative of Jim Crowe and denial of universal suffrage but I'm hangry so that may be the reason. Like the sound of your father immensely and it explains why you are sound as a pound (when its not under the care of Mad Lizzy)I would be very interested. The only one allowed to be challenging in our family was my father. He was quite happy to challenge, having been a very competitive and successful sportsman in his time (Civil Service Boxing Champion in 1932 amongst other sports; that was a way to channel his aggression). He definitely was not politically correct in any way but an honest and honourable man in his own way.
We can't get enough integrated circuits to make electric cars. The country can't make its stuff it needs, we have ditched a proven economic union for an idealistic failure. Is it Brexit? If other manufacturers can get the materials, why would this one not be able to? I can't help wondering if they can get a better price for their product by selling to other countries (it was supposed to have been stopped, but I'm not so sure) and so, neglecting the British market. To be honest, though, I don't know where the tablets are made - maybe Europe, so why shouldn't they? Maybe that's another price increase the UK has to face in order to obtain the generic product.
Apparently new supplies will be available - at the end of March!
EDIT: My PPI is Esomeprazole and, so far, has always been available. Fingers crossed. I actually don't know why it was prescribed and when I asked a doctor he said he didn't know, but try not taking it and see what happens. So I did. Didn't take long to feel some pretty severe stomach pains. Still don't know the cause of that, but I just keep taking the tablets.
We used to buy Avomine as a travel sickness preventive. It never seemed to work for Neil or for me. Eventually, we realised that it was actually making us worse so we stopped taking it. Now we just go to sleep on the ferry and take lots of breaks when travelling by car.
In office but very much not in power. Also claiming to be victims of circumstances - most of which they caused in underhand if not illegal ways. If it wasn't so serious one could laugh it off. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave for now then take revenge at the ballot box.We can't get enough integrated circuits to make electric cars. Why are we not making integrated circuits? Can we afford a factory?...can we afford a battery factory which we need. Can we get enough engineers and scientists?
I think if I were young I would emigrate and I love my Country but not the clowns who are running it.

I'm a mixture of my father's, fairly strict, rule and my mother's much more compassionate attitude. She had compassion for everyone and would, occasionally, defy my father by defending wrong-doing in others who were less capable of making the right decisions in life, whether through a lack of ability, care or through inherrent "badness". She hated the sin, but had compassion for the sinner. I try to be the same, but perhaps am not so patient. Not that she couldn't tell someone off, if she thought it was necessary. Embarrassed the young me from time to time when she told it how it was.PM sent so hopefully you will be able to decide if the term originally had any value. That's absolutely appalling! Your poor niece. So glad she managed to stop him getting into her car. We have a cousin living in Plymouth but hadn't heard that it was a particularly dangerous place. Sad, sad, world.Fbg 7.3 this morning getting fed up with it. May hear from DN at some point about reintroducing some medication but not holding my breath.
My sort of niece in Plymouth posted on face book earlier that while driving to work this morning when she stopped at traffic lights a man tried to force his way into her car she managed to stop him gaining entry and drove off to get clear of him., very frightening experience for her.
@Annb whilst stationed at St Mawgan often heard in the crew room was the refrain "were all going away to Stornoway" happy cheerful sound as it was a favorite detachment for many us.
I'm sure your version played on the accordion sounds much better than the raucous row we used to make.Don't know the song "we're all going away to Stornoway" but there is the one "make your way to Stornoway". Tom used to play it on the accordion.
I am so pleased that I am not the only person who feels the same @Annb- I actually don't know what "woke" is, nor do I want to.
A good age for a dog. Enjoy the Jaaaaag ride. This is what I should have posted earlier. Now only 2'more classes to go today.
Off to work shortly. Archie was a bit wobbly at the start of the dog walk so so only took him half way around the park. He was happy and did loads of sniffing. He will soon be 16 years and 4 months so he is doing well.
As usual a busy day ahead. Lovely being chauffeured.
Today we are going in Mr Is Jaguar as he hasn't used it all week and apparently it needs a run.
Pretty harrowing experience and good that she controlled the situation well under the stress of it. We have auto locks on our car - you never know nowadays.Fbg 7.3 this morning getting fed up with it. May hear from DN at some point about reintroducing some medication but not holding my breath.

This is looking impressive @dunelmGood morning everyone on the crest of a 5.2 wave here in the dark and dangerous north. I opened a new container of strips a couple of days ago - they all seem to be calibrated at 5.2. I can go with that. Mrs Miggins has decided to decorate the dining room so it must now be spring. The steam powered paper stripper (she watches all the Barry Bucknell re-runs) has turned the dining room into a Sauna, which is nice. I have installed one of the deck chairs in there so that I can take advantage of this posh, yet fleeting addition to our living standards while I offer tips and comments. Did I tell you about the improvements that they have made to the hospital food menu? Art bit - coming along - turrets - not to be mistaken for tourettes. Hope that your weekend is going as well as it can. Best have koffy now and do some exercises.
