One word. NoA good afternoon to all.
Monsieur M'tre informed
me today's gonna be a 5.3 kinda day.........gotta love that guy.
( Keeps on like this I'll have to consider quitting airbnb'ing in McGarrett Plains and look to buying somewhere of my own. )
A small ask.
Of late I've felt the best I have in a long while , aches, pains & limp not withstanding .
However I do sleep more..
...A lot more
Obv I'm back at work but only p/t & I'm doing gym twice a week, so using more energy
I've rationalised that if I'm not unwell (I don't feel ill )
That it's possibly part of my recovery ?
I like to visualise things.
For this the accident was a shipwreck .
I survived the ship going down, but for months maybe a year plus, I still felt the waves from it.
But now the waves aren't washing over me, but more ripples on the surface, so I'm not so disturbed by it.
So much so, that my body (likely my mind) is relaxed enough to now try recouping the energy it's expended over that time keeping me ticking over.
My mind feels 'calmer' in many ways, if that makes sense .
Am I widely off the mark ?
I actually have absolutely no idea how you eat LC and get enough energy. I find it extremely weird that I have loads more energy when I eat LC than when I ate loads more carbs over Christmas and during January. How the deuce do you eat LC and get enough energy?
Do you find it hard to maintain a sensible weight if you don't mind me asking? I don't need to know your weight just curious as you are very active and very low carb.I actually have absolutely no idea how you eat LC and get enough energy. I must confess that I am not a great meat eater and do have my whey protein isolate drink every day. I also feel more energetic if I have lots of veggies plus seeds and kefir and inulin.
Edit:Great fbg so little house on the McGarrett Prairie for JJ upcoming. As for the sleep, from what I've read it can go with the LC territory for a significant proportion. More exercise and energy expended perhaps means you can eat and deal with a few more carbs. Fitbit linked to Cronometer has clearly shown I sleep longer and better with more carbs on board (still <40.) Also, thanks for the cals related reply - especially not mentioning Fung or DD. Cals out wise I do my 10k steps but that is surely just a basic starter at my age?
Yes, I can definitely put on weight on LC. If I feel I am starting to look too skinny I just have to up the cream in my coffee and eat more cheese. Not hard to do as I love cheese and could happily eat cream on its own - especially clotted cream. I think that we are all different in how our bodies react to food.On other threads people often say they are full or even gaining weight. I'm baffled how that happens with LC food.
Yes, I do have to be quite careful not to get too skinny.Do you find it hard to maintain a sensible weight if you don't mind me asking. I don't need to know your weight just curious as you are very active and very low carb.
A question for those who are physically active. I don't think I am any longer. How the deuce do you eat LC and get enough energy? I accept that I try to avoid overloading my kidneys so, for example, cheese and eggs are carefully managed. I guess most of you find red meat more appealing than I. I'd also say my carbs are pretty high due to incorporating gut mircobiome friendly foods including some peanut butter (crunchy, organic, no palm oil obs). On other threads people often say they are full or even gaining weight. I'm baffled how that happens with LC food. I do consume little or no alcohol - which is pretty calorific - most of the time. Please don't mention Diet Dr or I may self combust.
Afternoon @ianpspurs hmmmSorry about the sleep but from what I've read it can go with the LC territory for a significant proportion. I sleep longer and better with more carbs on board. Thanks for taking the time to reply @alf_Josiah. Physically active is certainly a variable. For me it meant the >20k+ steps plus a significant amount of resistance exercise and static bike/gym x3 I was doing. Hence not feeling I'm active atm. As for diet, from what I've read and discussed with consultants what feeds T2 may feed tumours. They are content with my bloods, way of eating and response to the current regime. As far as I can tell most carby foods have little to no nutritional value in my situation. As they say, oranges aren't the only fruit/horses for courses. Your way has clearly worked for you thankfully.Afternoon @ianpspurs hmmm
Define physically active, it’s different for each of us. 10 000 paces is a memory for me.
Low carb and also low carb and high fat did not work me and also just low carb does not work for me.
Can you remember the unofficial who gets the lowest blood sugar competition or so it seemed and also the longest fasting fad that a few followed?
Bitter experience has taught me that I need carbs to function in the morning, for me carbs mean energy to carry out my task’s during the day. I also eat lunch, followed by an afternoon nap till approximately 14:00 hrs but normally stop my tasks about 16:30hrs then rest up.
I enjoy my life and feel privileged to be alive after many visits to the surgeons table taking some extremely powerful anti rejection drugs every day, I always look for the bright side of life, bring a smile to a face known or unknown even if it is at my expense, I just don’t care. I evaluated many years ago what is going to kill first, diabetes or the side effects of my medication.
Diabetes is not going to kill me first , therefore I concentrate on the medication, realising that I need carbs, which enables me to do things which also makes me happy and brightens up my day.
Now this my philosophy with my medical conditions.
Knowing a little of your medical battles from your postings I would throw the diabetes concerns to one side and spend your energies on finding out what gives more energy enabling you to enjoy you life, grandchildren and importantly your body to fight the medical battles
My weight remains approximately constant and I am classified as obese.
Good luck, remember the bulk of this posting is how I handle carbs
I think that you are spot on @jjraak . It makes company sense that you would be sleeping much better now and that this will definitely aid your recovery. So much so, that my body (likely my mind) is relaxed enough to now try recouping the energy it's expended over that time keeping me ticking over.

I am not physically active in the way that many of you on this thread can walk 10,000 plus steps a day. I cannot walk far in one go, only a few steps. However I can use a stepper and I can use a rowing machine.A question for those who are physically active. I don't think I am any longer. How the deuce do you eat LC and get enough energy? I am not sure of a satisfying solution to this. Physical activity is a movable feast - sometimes I get frisky and get in several miles - some days not so much. I am OK with that. I do the meat, dairy, lots of eggs, seeds nuts sort of thing and if I feel hungry a bit of cheese or a few mixed nuts and seeds seem to work. I suppose that you could incorporate more of what you like - avo and salmon but then it’s not a smashing treat after a couple of days. Would high protein yoghurt help - yours, clutching at straws.A question for those who are physically active. I don't think I am any longer. How the deuce do you eat LC and get enough energy? Sounds like your body and more importantly your mind are healing well. My own take - focus on the improvements and visualise a good future outcome.A good afternoon to all.

This is stunningly beautiful @dunelmGood morning everyone on a beautifully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. The chocolate eaters departed yesterday, taking their spoils with them. I am expecting a pretty quiet day today and probably something of a decent walk. Also, the funicular is working so it might include a trip both down and up the cliff. We could of course walk through the woods down to the beach as it’s a more gentle drop and we can take in the smells of trees and wild garlic. Art bit - colour added. Have a most pleasant Easter Sunday. I began mine by drinking a mug of tea and then half a cafetière of koffy.

Hi Ann,BG at 2.30 am was 6.4. Immediate response to putting my basal dose up again. For now it will have to stay at 58 units whatever the diabetes nurse says. Feeling much better today, even though I didn't get much sleep. Pretty tired though, and ready to dose off now, so I might just sit in the big chair and see what happens.
