Hope you had a wonderful time painting with your daughter. Thanks for sharing the kaleidoscope of Budleia butterflies. You managed to make the singularly ugly look gorgeous. Quite some feat.
 
DIL is a very colourful person - she loves colour and wears bright, cheerful clothing whenever appropriate (a bit calmed down for going to school). She was telling the school secretary that she has ordered new glasses with rainbow coloured frames.

"Oh dear, I don't think you should do that." she was told.
"Why not?"
"Well, people might think you are, you know, gay. You don't want them to think that." The secretary is a member of the Free Presbyterian Church and was very disapproving.
DIL never holds back.
"First, God made the rainbow to be a sign of His love to mankind."
"I never thought of that."
"Second, the gay pride movement just uses some of the colours, not the full rainbow, so a rainbow isn't the same."
"Third, I don't care what anyone thinks. My life is my business, and between my God, my family and me. Nothing to do with anyone else."
The secretary gave up.
DIL did acknowledge to me that it was a shame that the "rainbow" seems to have been hijacked but she does expect people to see the difference between a real rainbow and the lgbt version.

It's really no wonder that Em is such an independent thinker.

MrSlim likes iced tea with lemon . For convenience we buy it ready made in bottles. Last two years have had real difficulty finding lemon iced tea in shops, now its all peach or raspberry flavour and too sweet for either of us.
I did try making it at home but it goes cloudy and looks disgusting very quickly, even when kept in the fridge.
 
Yes I noticed all the peach and raspberry flavours in Super U a couple of months ago - not for me. Can you get it from Amazon.fr? This Recipe might work.

I used to buy the bottled versions but even the lemon one is far too sweet these days. I have to make my own and have never found it to be too cloudy. Don't know why. I didn't get around to it this year, though it would have been good in the hot weather. I find hot Chinese teas are great in hot weather, or iced coffee, of course.

Well there are quite a few that are bigots, and shouldn't be classed as such!
 
I came across an interesting take on diversity the other day which I blundered into in my ignorance.

A couple from the church, he was town Mayor the other year and is, I believe, secretary to church now, was up dating us on things that had been happening, we not having been to the building since the pandemic started.

Apparently there is another family in church from Nigeria. That's nice I said, they will enjoy the company of the family that had been in the church for some years.

No, he said, one family comes from east Nigeria and the other one comes from west Nigeria and they are from different tribes and do not gel together.
He explained it was the colonial powers that divided up the country without thought to the various tribal ethnic groups.

I don't know how they see black Caribbean populations? The Africans do much better at school.

Good morning pop pickers from another episode of International Bin Day here in the dark and dangerous north. Spotted Mrs Miggins’ twin sister on the Peoples Procession down to St Giles‘ Cathedral on the goggle box yesterday. Those in charge of claymores and feather bonnets wanted one of the pair to represent the clan so in the great tradition of highland folk, an Ardblair Stone Challenge took place and Mrs Miggins’ sister was dubbed the chosen one. Todays task is sharpening garden tools which includes the blades on the lawn mower. What fun. Art bit, more details added. Have a wonderful day if you can, I shall finish my koffy.

Belated birthday wishes for @gennepher .Hope you enjoyed the day with your daughter.
Up early and out into garden before it gets hot, forecast max 29°c. Kiki has been exploring MrSlims latest project. She loves climbing and one unfortunate Bluetit met her up there. Although I retrieved it alive it was badly wounded and died. It's blood was literally on my hands and I feel awful about it.
MrSlim is not just reroofing he is making a cupula, finals, and fancy barge boards. Am expecting him to do an intricate pattern with the tiles. So some weeks work yet. This will be the poshest potting shed ever. MrSlim is already calling it the pavilion - despite our French teacher and friend informing him that pavilion has unfortunate racy connatations.

The well is just visible in the background on the left.
 
Very fancy potting shed, but why not? Mr Slim is doing a great job there.
